lee_saint Posted 23 July, 2009 Share Posted 23 July, 2009 He was very average Botley, the Carlisle fans started to turn on him a little towards the end....I think mainly because he didn't score as many as he did before....apart from the Leeds game he really didn't do much special, hence why Carlisle chose not to sign him. fletch Posted 23 July, 2009 Share Posted 23 July, 2009 From those players I would be interested in: - Phillipe Appiah (CB - 19) - Michael Ball (LB - 29) - although we have only just signed one - Eugene Bopp (CM- 25) - Dean Bowditch (CF - 23) - Michael Bridges (CF - 30) - Antonio Byran (CF - 19 - just released from Man U so muct have had something about him) - Simon Dawkins (CF - 19 - just released from Tottenham) - Fabio Ferreira (RM - 19 - just released from Chelsea) - Rui Fonte (CF - 19 - just released from arsenal) - Julian Gray (LM) And thats only going through half the list - can see why AP thinks there are some gems there! Dietmar Hamann Manchester City Football Club Centre Midfield Age: 35 DOB: 27/08/73 Height: 6ft 3" Weight: 13st 0lbs Nationality: German Free Transfer My thoughts.....we need pace...we have enough slow doddering one paced players and need width, pace and power not players whose legs have gone. Would Hamann even be interested in playing in Div 3....doubt it very much.

The Kraken Posted 23 July, 2009 Share Posted 23 July, 2009 I suggested Ivan Campo as player/asst manager yesterday or the day before and some people poo pooed me. With the Swiss connection I am sure he will be interested and is just the sort of fella we need to drag us back into the CCC and allow us to build for the Prem. What strikes me from the lists people are posting are how unrealisitic some of the players suggested are. Do people not realise that we are a L1 team with -10 points? Some of the suggested signings border on the ridiculous and people need to take a long hard look at themselves. Twice ive seen this now, whats the connection between Campo and the Swiss? I'd love to know what the conection is, given that: a) Ivan Campo is Spanish b) Ivan Campo has never played in Switzerland before Maybe he likes Swiss Rolls? Or his favourite TV character is Swiss Toni? Other than that, I'm lost...

Yes, a real load of gems there. Maybe you could describe to us something about these young players released by Prem teams? If the reason you think we should sign players is because they were once at Man Utd then you have no idea what you are talking about. You are looking at available players, looking at the clubs who they were on the books for and making a judgement....nothing to do with their footballing ability, because you know nothing about it. Twice ive seen this now, whats the connection between Campo and the Swiss? This was mentioned yesterday. Campo has some association, through family and friends to the Swiss. I am sure I read that he is fluent in Swiss/German and enjoys Skiing and hiking there. He also plays the alphorn. I think that his relationship with Pardew and the Swiss connection would make him a great asst manager and he would still command the pitch. Only 35 years of age and comepletely free. Thoughts? Dietmar Hamann Manchester City Football Club Centre Midfield Age: 35 DOB: 27/08/73 Height: 6ft 3" Weight: 13st 0lbs Nationality: German Free Transfer Thoughts? Hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!! He's not exactly going to reveal his hand just yet is he? He will make sure we get any frees/loans etc before revealing his hand by making bids for players/offering contracts to high earners. QUOTE] Yes you are correct I have made some sweeping assumptions, and yes some of these are based on the fact that they have been at a top four club. My rationale was, rightly or wrongly that considering these top four clubs have argubly the best scouting network in the world these players, especially the foreign ones must have shown some promise to go to a top four club. Im not saying sign them up and the goals are guaranteed but there would be no harm trialling them, especially during pre season and seeing what they can do. If there crap then so be it. Naturally these are just my views and I feel Im entitled (on a football forum) to express them with or without justification thanks....

Joensuu Posted 23 July, 2009 Share Posted 23 July, 2009 (edited) Wasn't Molyneux at a top club before here? If you consider Everton a 'top club'. But, surely ozzmeister's point was to offer a trial, not sign people up blindly! Perhaps with the right staff conducting a rigorous trial, we might just have avoided signing Molyneux... Naturally these are just my views and I feel Im entitled (on a football forum) to express them with or without justification thanks.... Well your rationale was b*llocks. You never mentioned trials in the first instance and this makes your suggestion slightly better. My main point is that of all the pages of released players you have have randomly selected some and said "I'm interested in these" for no real reason at all. Seems like an odd thing to do. Your final paragraph says something these being your views and you being entitled to them. Well I'm afraid that isn't the case. You haven't actually expressed a view.....you have just ramdomly plucked some names off a list, names which mean nothing to you as you don't know them or what they are like....and I don't believe this constitutes holding an opinion. I think that you have proved that you can read some of a list and then take names from a list, without the abiluty to justify why you have done so. Also, if you don't feel the need to justify your posts why did you reply to mine? Anyway.....I am prepared to let this matter go now. Just make sure you apologise properly. Let's restore some sanity to the proceedings and get back on discussing a rumour that I hjave heard a fair bit of......Campo for player/asst manager. I am all for this. His is a character, professional and quailty footballer. Alan, if you're reading this (not sure you will be after ozzmeister's idiotic post) then sign the fella up and let us start the healing process.
