DT Posted 23 July, 2009 Posted 23 July, 2009 Just found this on the PFA website - 20 pages of Free Transfers and some good players we may see in the not too distant future have a look for yourselves - Keith Gillespie??? http://www.givemefootball.com/pfa-transfer-list Michael Bridges (only got up to B before getting bored)
Rogerfryisalegend Posted 23 July, 2009 Posted 23 July, 2009 (edited) Some good players on that list, but trying to be realistic on who would join us, one's that jumped out at me are David Connolly, Jonathan Fortune Pardew has managed both. Edited 23 July, 2009 by Rogerfryisalegend
Midfield_General Posted 23 July, 2009 Posted 23 July, 2009 Michael Bridges, page 6: Click on his detailed history and apparently in 2004/5, he played one game for Bolton Reserves, and managed to score -1 goals. Sign him up!
fish fingers Posted 23 July, 2009 Posted 23 July, 2009 I have made enquiries for Michael Ball and Godwin Antwi for my Sunday 6-a-side team. They would both be good additions
Ed Rooney Posted 23 July, 2009 Posted 23 July, 2009 Jonathan Fortune Sol Campbell Dean Bowditch Amaury Bischoff Michael Ball Henri Camara Richard Duffy Julian Gray Jaidi Lita Any of above would be nice
Wildgoose Posted 23 July, 2009 Posted 23 July, 2009 Thanks. Excellent and very interesting site. Shall we make some enquiries? ;-)
Wildgoose Posted 23 July, 2009 Posted 23 July, 2009 Some good players on that list, but trying to be realistic on who would join us, one's that jumped out at me are David Connolly, Jonathan Fortune Pardew has managed both. Both of those could be good for us I reckon
The9 Posted 23 July, 2009 Posted 23 July, 2009 "I think I've found someone" Well, we are in a pickle.
sussexsaint Posted 23 July, 2009 Posted 23 July, 2009 Just hope he gets moving very very quickly with this
Junior Mullet Posted 23 July, 2009 Posted 23 July, 2009 Yup, some good ones on there. Just hope we have enough and good enough scouts to get the info we need on them, although I reckon AP is pretty well connected and should be able to get info on most people he is interested in. Just like Football Manager - even has the search facility to narrow your results down!
Crab Lungs Posted 23 July, 2009 Posted 23 July, 2009 Ahmet Brkovic David Connolly (on trial at QPR though) Ugo Ehiogu Jon Fortune Stephen Foster Ryan France Keith Gillespie... Ony looked through a few pages..
Cheesegrater999 Posted 23 July, 2009 Posted 23 July, 2009 Some experienced players in that list that I feel would add to the team. Bring in a couple with experience like Ivan Campo and David Connolly.
Dan Johnson Posted 23 July, 2009 Posted 23 July, 2009 Not that we could get half of them but... Marlon Broomes henri Camara David Connolly Carl Cort Keith Gillespie Danny Granville Dietmar Hamann Matthew Holland Rahdi Jaidi Lauren Glen Little Michael Mifsud danny Mills Noe Pamarot John Oster Antoine Sibierski Sam Sodje Paul Terry (johns Brother) Jerome Thomas Andy Van Der Meyde Nicky weaver Everyones favourite - Jermain Wright!
The9 Posted 23 July, 2009 Posted 23 July, 2009 I'd just like to say Keith Gillespie hasn't been any good since about 2001 and nor has Michael Bridges. I saw Michael Ricketts was having some trial somewhere at our level too, there's another one I wouldn't touch with a 50ft pole.
Joensuu Posted 23 July, 2009 Posted 23 July, 2009 Surely young players rejected by top clubs are worth a trial? Antonio Bryan, Godwin Antwi etc.. They must have shown some raw talent at some stage, and could find their feet in league one.
Wiltshire Saint Posted 23 July, 2009 Posted 23 July, 2009 Some experienced players in that list that I feel would add to the team. Bring in a couple with experience like Ivan Campo and David Connolly. I suggested Ivan Campo as player/asst manager yesterday or the day before and some people poo pooed me. With the Swiss connection I am sure he will be interested and is just the sort of fella we need to drag us back into the CCC and allow us to build for the Prem. What strikes me from the lists people are posting are how unrealisitic some of the players suggested are. Do people not realise that we are a L1 team with -10 points? Some of the suggested signings border on the ridiculous and people need to take a long hard look at themselves.
skintsaint Posted 23 July, 2009 Posted 23 July, 2009 Ugo Ehiogu, Jonathan Fortune, Jaidi, Hoefkens, Pamarot all worth a shout for CB. Volz, Zheng Zi, Ryan France, John Oster, Julian Gray, Mifsud, Vassell might come with some persuasion.
saintsforlife7 Posted 23 July, 2009 Posted 23 July, 2009 Haven't seen anybody mention on here, David Noble from Bristol City, wasn't he the fella that scored that scorching goal in the playoffs v Palace for them? I'd certainly have him if not a first choice but certainly backup
skintsaint Posted 23 July, 2009 Posted 23 July, 2009 With the Swiss connection I am sure he will be interested Twice ive seen this now, whats the connection between Campo and the Swiss?
s0108787 Posted 23 July, 2009 Posted 23 July, 2009 Surely young players rejected by top clubs are worth a trial? Antonio Bryan, Godwin Antwi etc.. They must have shown some raw talent at some stage, and could find their feet in league one. Antonio Bryan was quality for my mate in the Blue Square South / Premier on FM2008!
Saint Paul C Posted 23 July, 2009 Posted 23 July, 2009 (edited) Carl Hoefkens? Tony Stokes? Edited 23 July, 2009 by Saint Paul C
Rogerfryisalegend Posted 23 July, 2009 Posted 23 July, 2009 Not that i know anything about him, but Chinese captain Zheng Zhi played a lot of games under Pardew, he's available on a free as well.
Le Timmier Posted 23 July, 2009 Posted 23 July, 2009 I'd just like to say Keith Gillespie hasn't been any good since about 2001 and nor has Michael Bridges. I saw Michael Ricketts was having some trial somewhere at our level too, there's another one I wouldn't touch with a 50ft pole. Brighton
Ludwig Posted 23 July, 2009 Posted 23 July, 2009 Al Bangura released by Watford, he's gone off the boil a bit, but did a good job for them in the PL a couple seasons back and has definite potential.
Ludwig Posted 23 July, 2009 Posted 23 July, 2009 Maceo Rigters having a trial at Southend, he'd be worth a punt too.
trousers Posted 23 July, 2009 Posted 23 July, 2009 Not that i know anything about him, but Chinese captain Zheng Zhi played a lot of games under Pardew, he's available on a free as well. How high's a Chinaman?
Smirking_Saint Posted 23 July, 2009 Posted 23 July, 2009 Al Bangura released by Watford' date=' he's gone off the boil a bit, but did a good job for them in the PL a couple seasons back and has definite potential.[/quote'] I was looking at that this morning too, he could defo DAJFU, only 21 too
oxfordshire_saint Posted 23 July, 2009 Posted 23 July, 2009 Ugo Ehiogu, Jonathan Fortune, Jaidi, Hoefkens, Pamarot all worth a shout for CB. Volz, Zheng Zi, Ryan France, John Oster, Julian Gray, Mifsud, Vassell might come with some persuasion. Vassell joined a Turkish side yesterday, would have never came to us anyway! Pretty sure John Oster is up on a rape charge or something.
shurlock Posted 23 July, 2009 Posted 23 July, 2009 (edited) [quote name= have a look for yourselves - Keith Gillespie??? http://www.givemefootball.com/pfa-transfer-list Of course, pards took him on loan at Charlton. Didn't hang on to him very long, though. Edited 23 July, 2009 by shurlock
shurlock Posted 23 July, 2009 Posted 23 July, 2009 Not that i know anything about him, but Chinese captain Zheng Zhi played a lot of games under Pardew, he's available on a free as well. Excellent player but refused to sign a new contract due to the drop in division. In fact, gave the impression that the championship was below him.
SaintRichmond Posted 23 July, 2009 Posted 23 July, 2009 I'd just like to say Keith Gillespie hasn't been any good since about 2001 and nor has Michael Bridges. I saw Michael Ricketts was having some trial somewhere at our level too, there's another one I wouldn't touch with a 50ft pole. Agreed ....... Bad disease/ailment I believe .......
Joensuu Posted 23 July, 2009 Posted 23 July, 2009 How high's a Chinaman? Dunno? Somewhere between these two Chinese men I'd wager: http://blog.photos2view.com/files/tallest-shortest-man.jpg
ozzmeister Posted 23 July, 2009 Posted 23 July, 2009 From those players I would be interested in: - Phillipe Appiah (CB - 19) - Michael Ball (LB - 29) - although we have only just signed one - Eugene Bopp (CM- 25) - Dean Bowditch (CF - 23) - Michael Bridges (CF - 30) - Antonio Byran (CF - 19 - just released from Man U so muct have had something about him) - Simon Dawkins (CF - 19 - just released from Tottenham) - Fabio Ferreira (RM - 19 - just released from Chelsea) - Rui Fonte (CF - 19 - just released from arsenal) - Julian Gray (LM) And thats only going through half the list - can see why AP thinks there are some gems there!
batterseasaint Posted 23 July, 2009 Posted 23 July, 2009 Agreed ....... Bad disease/ailment I believe ....... I'd just like to say Keith Gillespie hasn't been any good since about 2001 and nor has Michael Bridges. I saw Michael Ricketts was having some trial somewhere at our level too, there's another one I wouldn't touch with a 50ft pole. Didn't Ricketts have a trial with us the season before last? Think we preferred Vincent Pericard over him :-)
Brussels Saint Posted 23 July, 2009 Posted 23 July, 2009 Noe Pamarot would be a good call at RB, has some class. I'm pretty sure we almost signed him a couple of years ago, but he choose to go to Spurs. Guessing that and the Portsmouth connection would make him somewhat suspect. Also would he come here..........probably not..........talked myself out of it.......terrible idea.......what was I thinking!
saint_bert Posted 23 July, 2009 Posted 23 July, 2009 What we have to remember is were not the only club who needs players! Players such as Didi Hamann, why would he come here?? As a previous poster said why not look at the younger players released by higher league clubs. Add in sone experience we could have the makings of a good, solid league 1 side IMHO
BotleySaint Posted 23 July, 2009 Posted 23 July, 2009 I'd just like to say Keith Gillespie hasn't been any good since about 2001 and nor has Michael Bridges. Agreed about Gillespie. But disagree about Bridges. He has been excellent for Carlisle during his time there, creating goals, scoring out of nothing, but he does have a questionable injury record.
shurlock Posted 23 July, 2009 Posted 23 July, 2009 From those players I would be interested in: - Eugene Bopp (CM- 25) Released by Crewe, on trial with the skates, part of their fantasy football takeover
lee_saint Posted 23 July, 2009 Posted 23 July, 2009 Julian Gray is on trial up at Sheff United. Bridges was w*nk last season for Carlisle, he's level is League Two.
lee_saint Posted 23 July, 2009 Posted 23 July, 2009 Agreed about Gillespie. But disagree about Bridges. He has been excellent for Carlisle during his time there, creating goals, scoring out of nothing, but he does have a questionable injury record. They didn't rate him much last season, spent most of the time on the bench and apart from the odd game where he scored, didn't do much else....he's got no pace anymore, plus, he's on trial at Norwich.
