Probably not.

Baj, Mke, you missed really good game last week (even without the agreed HT interval). There were some very good goals the best of which has to be Barce's header from a corner.

anyone else up for a 4:30 practise first?

Our legs dont last the 90minutes without us needed to stop for little breaks mid-game baj... and extra 30mins willleave us laying on the floor gasping for air!

Ok, it must be the two and only DSM or Ponty then?

My footballing days are over Jilly Willy. Not that they were ever there really. I spent my time coaching youth football and refereeing, that and getting bones broken playing egg ball with the Army.

Who was this 'special guest' then?

fwiw, I thought it was a bit laboured today, and was glad to get between the sticks for the last 20 minutes (clean sheet too - yay), especially pleased that we weren't palying that silly 'hand ball outside the area' rule (that's for kids).

Also pleased to be on the wiining side again too.

haha i swear u handballed it about 3 times... 1 of which was blatent, about 2 yards out as i was in line with it! Well done though mate you played very well today.

The special guest was Saad, the pakistanian guy you had playing on your team. He is an old friend from school that none of us have really seen for years... and simon never had the best relationship with him (all seemed good today though)

Gota agree about the game being laboured... i couldnt really get into it for the first 10 or so minutes. And then when i did i had a bit of a nightmare, my worst game for a few weeks i think. Only thing i did right was pinch the ball off of the head of Barca on 2 or 3 occasions :p Perhaps it was because there was so many of us on half a pitch that it didnt seem as good.. space was very restricted

I reckon it was a case of people sussing each other's tactics out more and more recently, and as the Big Barce pointed out, both teams tend to be concentrating more on defence and realise how sapping it can be to run around like Newcastle every week. Note how few injuries, aches and sprains we are getting. I for one have stopped trying ro keep up with you kids and have a little lol every time someone screams at us to "GET BACK" (you know who you are). Don't want to over analise it, but even though there are definitely less goals going in, there are more people having a go, even I had about 4 or 5 cracks.

Saad really worked his arse off I thoiught, up front with Mini Me they were a good pairing.

Sorry for any shouting at the back, i'm so used to barking orders to the Saturday side i play for, still very well done everyone on my side for defending really well and putting in so much effort. :D

I agree with that, too crowded for a half-pitch game. Also, we had three or four defensive-minded players on the same team for a change, so you didn't have the space whenever one defender got bored and wandered off up front.

its a shame they were all on 1 team then ;)

Barce, it's a good job someone does take control, otherwise it would have been just me and thee doing all the hard work. ;) Don't apologise mate.

Rolling subtitutes? ;)

was thinking this yesterday, or capping the numbers on here but that is more difficult as people dont know if they are 100% in until the last minute sometimes. I suppose we could look at having say 3 teams playing each other in 15 minute games or something?

Posted

It would seem better to encourage numbers.

Why not only cap it at 22 players, and if it gets above, say, 14, we play on the grass? The season, she is a-coming, anyway..

Posted

the problem with 1st come first served is that you get too many people dropping out / coming in at the last minute. I think Rob is right, if it gets about 7 a side, move to the green stuff but have a width limit as before it has been very very wide

Posted

Once the pitches are up (soon if not already) this won't be an issue, you'd think. Once you get to 8 a side, you can pretty much go full pitch anyway.

just that people will need boots what with the w8nk weather n all.

Surely most of us have some?

you'd have thought!

guess we will just see what happens over the coming weeks. The other thing worth mentioning is that with the season starting soon we will lose players that play saturday / sunday league football, meaning that the astro wont be an issue

Posted

Yeah - I might actually be playing 11-a-side this season as well. It depends on a few things. I might still turn up Sundays anyway, will have to see how my fitness / condition holds up.
