I looked at Pulis' stats on the official site yesterday.

He's 25 years old.

He's played 25 games in his career!! Half of which from subs bench.

Thats poor. Thats worse then Steve Baker isnt it?

I remember Steve Baker and Pulis is actually worse. Will look great alongside Lancashire, Marshall, Todd, David Lee, Ali Dia and many others in the fans' worst ever XI.

Playing three keepers in goal should shore up a leaky defence!

Is there a rule that says you are only allowed 1 keeper? lol

Obviously you would be short upfront or midfield.....

But hell, i really do call that a football revolution if that was the case.

That would be so funny to watch.

The club should sort Ollie Lancashire out with some education or training because he isn't going to make it as footballer at any level. One of the worst ever players we've ever had and currently partnering Scott Marshall in my worst ever XI. Pleased to hear John did well, sounds like Saga had the Mumbles and Gower Peninsular on his mind. Paterson is doing himself some good but look on the bright side Nick, at least Pardew and ML know exactly what is required, there has been no papering over the cracks from this rum lot of players!
Lancashire is a quandrary to me.There is something there but he has gone backwards in the last year.He has to become more mobile and try and get better spring in his jump.Im sure AP will sort things.

I always had Steve Baker down as our worst ever player but to give him his due he did his best and never shirked a tackle.

I still haven't worked out (or have I) why we signed Pulis but have a strong feeling there is more to it than meets the eye. I can't also work out why we signed Tommy Forecast on 6 and a half year contract.

By selling him to a non-league club?

the ghost of Lowe will take a while to be exorcised.

If I supply the steak Duncan, will you do us the favor of sticking it in!

Think we need to hold a ceremony of burning a red faced decorated pig head in the center circle at St Mary's to be sure we have rid ourselves of the Gloucestershire pig farmer forever.

Who for the new board Duncan? Jim Hone? or maybe Ken Dulieu? Wasn't it Jim Hone that gave Andrew Oldhow the job originally?

You'd have to cook it for quite some time before it would be hard enough to do any damage.

Lancashire looked promising enough a few seasons back in the reserves. Who knows what damage was done to his confidence and his game by that red card against QPR on the telly - I think opinions were split as to whether it really was a dismissable tackle, but didn't Saints go on to lose 4-1? Maybe he's a candidate for Hoddle's rehab, or maybe, just maybe, AP will be able to give him the guidance he's so obviously been lacking.

At least Pardew will know now that Lancashire isn't up to the job and gives the team less confidence. It is a shame, but I think the harder Olly tries, the more nervous he looks...

Seriously though AP has to get in 2 new centre backs before 1st August.

Then he can play Perry as a sort of sweeper at away games where a point would be handy

We shipped a shedload of goals last season and our current centre backs played their full part in that.

Atrocious both of them, got to get it right before we can move on;

The club has obtained about 2.6 million in transfers out and another 3 million or so in ST sales, surely there must be a bit of cash available immediately to sort out this primordial matter.I'll be clear about this, IMHO if we don't get 2 new central defenders in right now we'll be in deep brown, unless Thomas

can fill one spot on a regular basis.

Lancashire is just not up to the job, get over it.

I've seen hundreds of kids who looked good against other kids, when it came to moving up a gear there was nothing left in the tank. Talent is natural but any old knob can be made to look good in the junior sections with excessive coaching and practice, effort and talent are two completely different things .

Morgan has probably more talent than most of you have ever seen but he is dismissed by most as overated.......he isn't,Saint's environnment is nocive to him that's all. I hope AP sorts it out .

Yes it was Art, AO I can live with Hone and Dulieu I couldn't.

I think AP has started where most managers start from by looking at and improving the defence - one aquasition at LB. Still need A N Other CB tho'.

I agree with Window that we need two not one. Perry tries hard but that is not enough.

So against Salisbury with every player having played in the first team, we played four at the back and two defensive holding midfielders in front of them and went 3-0 down.

I suppose the apologists will say it doesn't matter but it does. A defensive team against a non league side, you couldn't make it up.

Probably a method of getting rid of the players who we know aren't up to it - I can't believe a Wotton/Pulis combination would grace Conference South, never mind League One (and we were thankfully spared it in the CCC), and whoever picked that team probably knows it. Wotton has some useful qualities, certainly leadership, and he's probably the right kind of mentality in the changing room, but we've all seen what he does with a ball at his feet.

As for Pulis, he's a walking testament to the power of nepotism. He needs fitness to close people down and get remotely near the ball, and some kind of presence, as I haven't seen him affect the game at all in the four or so times I've seen him.

Perry is handy enough on his day but he's going on 37 and that's far too old for a bloke who's 3 inches shorter than the average centre back ,you can't rely on

positioning and experience against blokes who could give Usain Bolt 10 yards and still beat him,nor bloke with a vertical bond of nigh on a meter from a standing start..

OK see the point about Perry so yes will conceed to 2 CB's.

I would chuck Ollie L to the lions just yet tho'. AP is a good coach.

Does anyone expect a club that has been in administration all summer, and has been bought out well into pre-season AND has changed it's manager and currently seems to have only 1 coach to be at an advanced stage of team building?!

Did people actually think that the summer we've had would be condusive to a positive start to the season?

Heresy !!!! We've got an owner who has loads of money in his bank account, that automatically means all the players we've got will become good and win games.

Etc.

Saints were appaling last night, especially so in the first half. A big lumbering forward like Robbie Matthews caused mayhem in our defence and we'll come across plenty like him in League 1. Perry and Lancashire together will not work. We gave away possession far too easily - Salisbury were much more composed on the ball. Their fifth goal came from our throw in where we lost possession in about 3 seconds. I know that we have the likes of Lallana, Gillett, Schneiderlin, Holmes, etc. to come in but some of the players last night will be playing and they just don't seem good enough. I didn't think Stern John was very impressive and Saga was just as bad. Second half when Mills went into midfield and Patterson came on, at least we looked like scoring and eventually did! Not optimistic about our chances after this showing.

with comments like this and amny others..i really do weonder if fans are able to just coment on the players/match rather than the directors box..

aldershot 3 - 1 spurs

that is it...pass the shotguns round

It is alright being complacent, but we start with -10 and so to go into the new season in no form is not what i want. AP is above criticism here, but those players need a good talking to.

All of a sudden it seems it is ok to lose to lower opposition, if you had turned up and been embarrassed like the few who did you may have a different slant to you opinion. Any posts by fans who went are 100% worried by the match.

AP will get into them and saturday i hope it will be a totally different display

I agree, we need to start finding form - this wasn't just a Saints XI, it had players who should be competitng to make th efirst team and should be showing they can do - how many more games do we need to realise that Saga is not going to cut it for us any more.

Just curious as to what has happened to Nick Holmes at Salisbury...He was mentioned in relation to Saints coaching team recently.

The game has to be put into perspective as Salisbury only had three contracted players in Tubbs, Mathews and Sinclair.

The Manager, Widdrington hads 11 players playing for no wages. Hopefully Saints have picked up since then.

Barry Blankley has left his role as assistant to our Tommy as he does not respect him for some reason. Salisbury are still deep in trouble and in need of a new investor..

So all in all they did remarkably well to even turn out a side against Saints.

Lord Marland will surely put some dosh in like at Saints...

The problem arose when Tom Widdrington was made up to Team Manager over Blankley......If Nick Holmes is there , he probably has a General Manager role .....ANYWAY GOOD LUCK TO SALISBURY ..Hope they get through their problems.
