saintgert76 Posted 28 July, 2009 Share Posted 28 July, 2009 I disagree. If next season we are relegated by losing every game 6-5, but fight to the last and play attractive football, then we'd have a higher attendance than if we have a a scrappy half-hearted season of draws and 1 nils, that means we just miss out on the league 1 play off... Of course I could be completely wrong. You are
BotleySaint Posted 28 July, 2009 Share Posted 28 July, 2009 IF we lost 6-5 every game the fans would be more pi**ed off and less likely to go I think. Esp. if some of these we were 5-0 up and threw away 6 goals in the last 15 minutes...
RedAndWhite91 Posted 28 July, 2009 Share Posted 28 July, 2009 The Northam is normally sold out or atleast 90% full tbf. I reckon we'll get a gate of about 22-25k for Millwall, I'd imagine they'll bring down a large support, 2k atleast i think. I don't know about 2,000. According to the site below, their average home attendance last season was about 8,940... This isn't that great considering the New Den holds around 20,000. It's odd because they had a good season. Wikipedia says - "The (membership) scheme introduced by Paphitis still applies, but for away games only. Many Millwall fans blame Paphitis' scheme for diminishing Millwall's support at away games." I still reckon they will have a good support coming down, but 2,000 does sound a lot to me?? Mind you, being first game of the season, on the back of the good season the had last year, it's certainly possible, and I hope they do. Incidentally, the highest average crowd last season was 23,813, done by Leeds. We could beat that average. Mind you it is on TV so you could be right.
NickG Posted 28 July, 2009 Share Posted 28 July, 2009 Our support is ****e. Our supporters proved that they didn't like watching Championship football when the team were doing badly, so I can't see them embrasing third division football with open arms. At the moment we're in a honeymoon period and there's a certain feelgood factor around, you just wait until ten games have passed and we're still in the botton four, you just watch gates diminish to around the twelve thousand mark. Dear Mr Skate Look at the figures. We were relatively well supported following relegation. Even last season, with all negativity, boardroom stuff - and most of season without a home win - our crowds compared favourably with many others - including premiership sides. We have sold more season tickets this year than teams with mythical good support such as Newcastle or skates would have done.
Tractor_Saint Posted 28 July, 2009 Share Posted 28 July, 2009 9700 according to OS Agree that this is a fantastic figure. I'm a first time ST holder now (along with the family) but wonder whether previous ST prices gave away a children's under 8 ticket free? I'd imagine this will bolster ST numbers but not necessarily the revenue on the tickets. However, that being said, it still means bums on seats and a good atmosphere at the ground. Wonder how many people bought a ST and a free U8 to have the leg room next to them rather than a child.......... St_Tel49 Posted 28 July, 2009 Share Posted 28 July, 2009 Way. I am for interested in the second derivative; ie the acceleration of season ticket sales. If the rate of sales is increasing, that would be a story. I know the 2nd derivative of season ticket sales could only rise for say 10 days as by then, the SMS would be sold out. Bloody mathematicians - have to reduce everything to calculus ;-)
