Sorry If there are other threads similar, but is everyone else as excited as I am about this season as I am?

I don't even care about the -10, or League 1.

FINALLY, we have got what looks to be a top drawer management structure in place, and a manager that can genuinely take us back to the Premiership and potentially do a job for us there! The more I think about us getting Pardew, the more convinced I am that this is an inspired appointment!!

There does generally seem to be a buzz on about the club, which Pardew is doing well to publicise, as that will surely pass on to the players...hopefully meaning we can take some momentum into the opening run of fixtures!!

I cannot remember being soooo excited for the season to start in years, probably since the start of the 2003/04 season, let's just hope this season doesnt flop as much as that!!!

COYR!!!

Me too which is bonkers when you consider what position we are in - we are starating in the relegation zone of div 3 but I am happier than I have been for years and years :)

Could not agree more, having my first season ticket adds to the excitement, and I am positively buzzing for August 8th!! For the first time in years things actually look positive, and like you said, the -10 points or the League One does not bother me one bit, I cannot wait, I share your excitement, and I'm sure many others do too. COYR indeed!!

Was quite excited back in 03/04 and 06/07. This however is different, very different.

I'm just waiting for something to go wrong!

NOOO!!! Be positive!!

I think for one I have confidence in the set up - there is no more Lowe factor and , as yet , the new regime has not put a foot wrong and is making sensible decisions at every turn

plus the word Billionaire keeps bubbling on my lips :)

Having been through so much with Saints- my optimistic streak has been battered down but I've got to agree, this season is exciting. We have a structure, we have a good manager, we have the makings of a good team, we have a rich but seemingly sensible owner and I've renewed my season ticket so COYR....

Excited too - tempered by the nagging doubt in the back of mind that this time last season I was genuinely confident of our prospects too, d'oh!!

Totally different situation now though; I really think the worst is behind us and we're starting the long climb back to the PL [-o

We may get to the PL but it depends on how much money the new regime wants to spend.

Really excited about the new season and I'm looking forward to going through all the emotions that watching Saints play put me through.

I think the only thing that will dampen my spirits is that my seat is alittle bit too near the pitch and not so much under cover for when it rains... but as long as we win that damp day.. who cares! :-D

You are right to be excited an you are right not to start a thread about it. I may start a thread how I am indifferent to the signing of an Ipswich town reject.

First year off being 18 and able to drive but could'nt get a season ticket due to coaching commitments. Allready brought tickets for Millwall & Brentford.

Since the takeover, I have'nt even remembered we start on -10. I genunely think we could win this league STILL.

hard to decide if thats my head or my heart telling me that.

Roll on the 8th

Heart I would have thought.

At the moment the team is not that good but hopefully that will improve a long way to go before we win the league I would have thought

Looking forward to the Brentford match on the 22/8..

Same here! Can't get to the Millwall game unfortunately so Brentford is the first game I will see. There are going to be 8 of us to swell the St Mary's faithful!! COYR!

I too am itching to get to the games but I just want a few more newnames and a chance for them to get match fit then I will be screaming those 10 points away away with the rest of you

It will be gutting to have won 4 on the trot and only have 2 points :) but I would settle for that

I was excited while sat in the Kingsland on Saturday. Then the game started, and I was more attracted by watching the directors box through the binoculars. That doesn't mean to say that I won't be excited come Aug 8, after AP has got a team together and fit for purpose. Come on!

Like the rest of you I am happy that we are in a better situation now in terms of ownership, structure, finances etc, etc...

Just one word of warning however :

If we lose to Millwall (yes, it is perfectly possible!) a new sense of perspective will need to to be adopted, ie. this ain't gonna be a cakewalk and may take a while with many ups and downs along the way !

Personally I am confident that we are on the up but realistically we have a long way to go before believing that we have an 'all conquering', title chasing squad !!

Having followed the Saints for more years than I care to remember, I advise caution against overly high expectations and undue optimism !!!

Just for you mate, i'll try. ;)

I've become so cynical since I reached my mid twenties. :D

Good Lad!! I can feel that creeping in...hit the big 2-0 this year!!

WE should all be positive this is an exciting time for the club!!

Booooooooooooo!!! No more negativity!!!

I never mentioned winning the league or even promotion/playoffs. Just Generally excited for what looks like it could be a truely positive period of history for the club. Ofcourse there will be ups and downs, but in comparison to the last 5 years...things are certainly looking miles better!

This is the most excited i have EVER been about saints. We have a billionaire owner who is in it for the long haul, yes we are in Div 3 on minus 10 but im sure now that one day we will be back in the prem! minus Mr Lowe how good is that.

You have the optimism of yoof on your side young man, rather than the realism of age and (disappointing) past experiences (Saints related experience you understand). We are gonna be in some dark places this season - especially at the start, do don't get carried away just yet.

I said "personally I think that we are on the up", surely that is not negative ?? Nobody wants success for the Saints more than me !

On this thread there is a general display of wild optimism which could easily result in an 'over the top' adverse reaction if things go wrong early in the season, that's the only cautionary point that I'm making but please don't let me spoil the party !
