bungle Posted 21 July, 2009 Share Posted 21 July, 2009 Need a win in the CC - not sure what the weather is like for the rest of the week. Tremlett back in the team after being rested at Sussex. Warwicks 19-0 after 6 overs, and they have been off for rain since.
bungle Posted 21 July, 2009 Author Share Posted 21 July, 2009 30-0 after 13.4 overs. Managed another short stint in the afternoon - but play not yet abandoned for the day. An interesting point to note that they have altered the times slightly for this match, due to Hants playing on Saturday in Cup Final. More overs in first 3 days, followed by a shorter 4th day that will finish at 5pm (or 4pm if obvious draw).

NI76 Posted 22 July, 2009 Share Posted 22 July, 2009 Was there for most of the afternoon. Tremlett's lack of effort in the field was an absolute disgrace. Shouldn't say this but I hope he gets injured tomorrow or Friday so Billy plays at Lord's. Spoke briefly to Pothas in atrium afterwards and he said he will definitely be fit for Sat. Thought he bowled a very good spell after tea and should have had Trott caught, but Dawkins was stood too wide at 1st slip. Lumb presumably has injured a hand otherwise he would have been there. I left at 5pm when they went off for bad light and have just seen the final score. This is a mirror image of the Notts game last month. Put a nipper in at no.9 and he will get a career best and put on shed loads. Had a chat with Billy and he is resigned to not playing Saturday and is thinking of going into umpiring. As I was his club captain when he started, I suddenly felt very old.
Lets B Avenue Posted 23 July, 2009 Share Posted 23 July, 2009 484-7 dec. Trott 184no Woakes 131no (ye gods!) Another 2 catches dropped by Burrows and Tahir, making 8 at least. Saving grace is that we wont have to bowl again this match and can treat the next 11/2 days as a glorified net.
bungle Posted 23 July, 2009 Author Share Posted 23 July, 2009 Hants 191-0 at tea in reply, Carberry with another century scored quickly. Seems to me it's probably a flat pitch that had some dampness in yesterday morning?

keithd Posted 24 July, 2009 Share Posted 24 July, 2009 what a waste of time and energy! thankfully we're not fielding today, 9 players can at least rest up, think there's a slightly more important game tomorrow....
bungle Posted 24 July, 2009 Author Share Posted 24 July, 2009 They'll also be able to finish at 4pm today, which will be handy.
Lets B Avenue Posted 24 July, 2009 Share Posted 24 July, 2009 Carbs has got his 200. Lumb out for 20 just as SSN announced he was the only uncapped pick in the 30 man squad for the Champions Trophy in September. Just reward for his 1-day form this season. bungle Posted 24 July, 2009 Author Share Posted 24 July, 2009 Dimi "retired hurt" after 4 balls. I hope this is a fake "being hurt", so he didn't get injured, but then why bother to come out and at all?
Lets B Avenue Posted 24 July, 2009 Share Posted 24 July, 2009 He ducked into a short ball and got hit on the side of the helmet. A bit groggy, so went off. Fingers crossed.
chrisobee Posted 24 July, 2009 Share Posted 24 July, 2009 505/9, in fact all out . Should hope Dimi will be Ok though he did not return. However, no point at all taking any further risks. Ervine made 82.
chrisobee Posted 24 July, 2009 Share Posted 24 July, 2009 (edited) No surprise to see Tahir and Dawson opening the bowling ! The next half an hour will truly be an exercise in futility, I'm sure even the fans who are there would be happy to see the game end now. Leicestersaint Posted 24 July, 2009 Share Posted 24 July, 2009 I followed the game while away - I am glad to hear DM is OK. I don't know why Dawson was bowled so little in their first innings. England are going to miss KP big time - but still we have Bell!.
