Scummer Posted 21 July, 2009 Posted 21 July, 2009 Dan Harding, don't know anything about him other than what's in that article.
thesaint sfc Posted 21 July, 2009 Posted 21 July, 2009 Dan Harding, don't know anything about him other than what's in that article. He's a LB which has got to be good news!
John B Posted 21 July, 2009 Posted 21 July, 2009 (edited) that is a brilliant signing... Totally agree I hope he is as good as Skacel Edited 21 July, 2009 by John B
S-Clarke Posted 21 July, 2009 Posted 21 July, 2009 Dan Harding, don't know anything about him other than what's in that article. I saw him play for reading last year, he was brillaint that day...
SO16_Saint Posted 21 July, 2009 Posted 21 July, 2009 Any relation to Matthew, the ex (deceased) Chelsea owner?

Saintjersey Posted 21 July, 2009 Posted 21 July, 2009 Brilliant news, hopefully it means we can offload Molyneux.
Scummer Posted 21 July, 2009 Posted 21 July, 2009 He's a LB which has got to be good news! Wasn't Lee Todd a left back?
saints_is_the_south Posted 21 July, 2009 Posted 21 July, 2009 Some info on him here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dan_Harding http://www.itfc.co.uk/page/ProfilesDetail/0,,10272~21811,00.html
chrisobee Posted 21 July, 2009 Posted 21 July, 2009 Any relation to Matthew, the ex (deceased) Chelsea owner? Don't think so.
chrisobee Posted 21 July, 2009 Posted 21 July, 2009 Wasn't Lee Todd a left back? He wasn't even a footballer TBH
dubai_phil Posted 21 July, 2009 Posted 21 July, 2009 Wow, after last season, he's Sooooo OLD. We sign a 25 year old with over 100 appearances! Time to move the Scally on then
Saint Fan CaM Posted 21 July, 2009 Posted 21 July, 2009 Nothing on OS yet, but just announced on Radio Solent news.
SFC Forever Posted 21 July, 2009 Posted 21 July, 2009 Glad we are picking up a player but where does that leave Fish?
Thedelldays Posted 21 July, 2009 Posted 21 July, 2009 Glad we are picking up a player but where does that leave Fish? to fight for his place..?
Scummer Posted 21 July, 2009 Posted 21 July, 2009 Glad we are picking up a player but where does that leave Fish? Left midfield? Either way, we are severely lacking at left back, so it was a key position to strengthen. Is Molyneux on a contract?
S-Clarke Posted 21 July, 2009 Posted 21 July, 2009 Glad we are picking up a player but where does that leave Fish? left wing/backup to left back? he was pretty good as a winger on saturday. i think (hope) this signals the end of molyneux
Thedelldays Posted 21 July, 2009 Posted 21 July, 2009 this must be another one of those stories that the echo lifts from this site..!
saint1977 Posted 21 July, 2009 Posted 21 July, 2009 Good signing IMO although slightly concerned Mills may be blocked. Molyneux is on his way almost certainly. Need another RB even if Murty signs a deal and 2 wide players with pace, a CM with height and power and a striker with pace.
Saintjersey Posted 21 July, 2009 Posted 21 July, 2009 Nothing on OS yet, but just announced on Radio Solent news. Well on the Echo article nothing is meant to be announced until this afternoon.
trousers Posted 21 July, 2009 Posted 21 July, 2009 Would have been better to include the name of the player in the thread title. IMHO of course
trousers Posted 21 July, 2009 Posted 21 July, 2009 Would have been better to include the name of the player in the thread title. IMHO of course CHEERS! Happy Trousers indeed
trousers Posted 21 July, 2009 Posted 21 July, 2009 CHEERS! Happy Trousers indeed Actually, on reflection, only partially happy as you've only changed the opening post title and not the thread title itself. 5 out of 10 for effort though.

once_bitterne Posted 21 July, 2009 Posted 21 July, 2009 He sounds like a player who had potential as a youth but has slightly run out of steam and lost his way but is looking for a club to give him a secind chance. Has Pards found Poorvliet book of transfer dealings in his desk?
Torres Posted 21 July, 2009 Posted 21 July, 2009 Harding was a very good prospect when at Brighton (hence the large tribunal fee) but seems to have lost his way since the Leeds moved. Let's hope he can fulfil his potential here.
Miltonaggro Posted 21 July, 2009 Posted 21 July, 2009 Excellent signing, proper footballer and a big lad for a full-back! Think Harding might be the first of a whole new back line of Trojans...
corsacar saint Posted 21 July, 2009 Posted 21 July, 2009 Good signing, and much needed for that position. The performance of Lee Molyneux on saturday, was one of the worst I have ever seen from a Saints left back in 46 years, watching Saints. [ I know Molyneux might have fitness issues, but he was still awfully bad].
Scummer Posted 21 July, 2009 Posted 21 July, 2009 What was the story with him going to Reading last season? Seems strange that a player would suddenly go on loan to a top championship team and play half a dozen games at the end of the season, including the playoffs. Did they have an injury crisis or something?
bungle Posted 21 July, 2009 Posted 21 July, 2009 Text message from Brighton fan: "Dan Harding? hahahahahaha" Hopefully he's improved since he played for them, then!!
Petersfield Saint Posted 21 July, 2009 Posted 21 July, 2009 I LIKE HIM ALREADY JUST FROM THIS... Yep, he'll do!!
Nexstar Posted 21 July, 2009 Posted 21 July, 2009 Looks like a great signing, Pardew has singled out the main position we are very weak at currently. Lets hope for some more to come in the next few days
sotonjoe Posted 21 July, 2009 Posted 21 July, 2009 To all those chipping in with "great signing", what on earth do you actually know of him?!?!?!? Looks like it could be a 'canny' signing ... but I'd like to know what you all seem to know about him that I don't which would make him 'great'.
Ludwig Posted 21 July, 2009 Posted 21 July, 2009 Him and Fish competing for the LB spot sounds pretty good.
spank_182 Posted 21 July, 2009 Posted 21 July, 2009 We'd have him at left back and Fish Mills on left wing as we currently have no other options there (apart from maybe Gobern)?
whizzpop Posted 21 July, 2009 Posted 21 July, 2009 To all those chipping in with "great signing", what on earth do you actually know of him?!?!?!? Looks like it could be a 'canny' signing ... but I'd like to know what you all seem to know about him that I don't which would make him 'great'. Played for Eng U21s whilst at Leeds. Was excellent the year Leeds were in Championship play offs - 05-06 season??
Thedelldays Posted 21 July, 2009 Posted 21 July, 2009 Played for Eng U21s whilst at Leeds. Was excellent the year Leeds were in Championship play offs - 05-06 season?? same said of david prutton yet he was "put down" on here the other day... decent signing imo this harding fella
saint1977 Posted 21 July, 2009 Posted 21 July, 2009 same said of david prutton yet he was "put down" on here the other day... decent signing imo this harding fella Harding is a good signing and if Prutts is wanted by Pardew and fancies a return, we'll have that as well.
Arizona Posted 21 July, 2009 Posted 21 July, 2009 Glad we are picking up a player but where does that leave Fish? I see after last season, having some quality cover is a complete mystery to some people. It leaves him and Fish having to fight for the left back spot. Hopefully we will bring in another left winger too. Don't forget we have lost 9 first team regulars from a pretty thin squad last season. I'd say we need at least 12 quality players in to be competitive. With Skacel, Surman and World Class Ryan Smith gone, Holmes exposed as a cripple and Molyneux exposed as complete gash, we need a lot more decent cover down the left IMO.

I'd go with that although perhaps 8-9 signings rather than 12 as if deployed sensibly and at their own pace (unlike last season's lemming introduction), SOME of the young players may make an impact. Harding is the sort of player we need to bring in - he was switched to do a job on Theo by Blackwell in that infamous 4-3 home defeat by Leeds at 3-1 and it changed the game (plus the awful ref). Another CB (maybe 2), a RB, 2 CMs with height/strength (Prutton?), 2 wingers with pace on both flanks and at least one striker with blistering pace.
