Oh noes. The mule has bolted..!

Perhaps he'll be an attraction in Blackpool being led up and down the beach giving kids rides.

To be fair Euell was certainy good last year, battled, actually created a few chances and was one of only a few leaders on the pitch, however that just could be because the rest were crap!

While im not overly dissapointed he's gone especially considering he was on around 8 thousand a week, its increasingly alarming how its 3 weeks to go and we're letting players leave left right and centre without any replacements, bar murty. The squad in previous friendlies looked paper thin, it needs to be boosted

We will have to agree to disagree on that one! Maybe he just looked slightly better than some because everyone else was so bad. For me he was one of our worst players last year, some of his football "skills" were laughable.

I am going to get slated for this....

I thought Euell was quite decent last year. In a handful of games he was easiest our best player.

Agreed.

Powell, Wright, Hammill... Euell

I know, it's like they're hell-bent on relegation or something.

This news is fantastic if true. Our squad is very short on quality. We may have lost a (very old) pair of legs, but not much else IMO.

A striker who delivered 5 goals in 2 seasons? I'll pass thanks.

Euell always seemed very average to me. Granted I didn't see every game he played but I saw quite a few. He may have done well compared to the rest of the team on occasions but that wasn't really saying much. I can live with his departure but good luck to him.

Euell may not have scored, but believe me McGoldrick started scoring when he had Euell cutting a path for him in attack. I would have thought his positive contribution to the team in terms of leadership (bearing in mind he was left out in the cold by Jan P) when finally selected was pretty obvious - he was fighting a losing battle to get the team motivated and led by example. No not a scoring machine perhaps, but certainly not the poor player portrayed by some here. I just hope AP is allowed to spend some money getting other mobile experience into the side or the kids are going to get 'run-over' mark my words.

Didn't AP say he wanted to keep him and John though? And Palace have apparently offered Stern a deal.............

well not quite ...!

The Daily Star printed a story that AP wanted to keep Stern and Euell - but that was even before he was appointed manager...maybe they should get a new crystal ball ?

Mule was a massive disappointment here on the whole and terrible value for money at £10k a week it must be said . I recall early games when he quite literally couldn't complete a simple 10 yard pass to a teammate - a shocking standard for a player recently featuring in the Premier league . To be fair he did improve over time and could be quite effective (in midfield) on his day , but for my money JE lacks the finishing/pace to be classed as a proper striker .

Not his fault but I found the ludicrous £200k a season 'loyalty bonus' his agent had negoiated particularly irksome and undeserved IMO . In spite of it all I was kind of developing a soft spot for him and I wish him well at his next (last ?) club .

Euell was already a failure before he came to Saints, ex striker trying to extend his career in midfield and already dropped by Middlesborough when Burley signed him. AP doing the right thing already by clearing out the dead wood, and expect more to go.

Of course it is alarming that Pardew still hasn't signed anyone, he's been in the job for 24 hours now so just what is he doing....... As for the left, right and centre, wasn't that whilst in Administration and done to keep the club in existence until the take-over......

He may have been ineffective in the CCC but I suspect he wuld have done a decent job in this league. It has been said many times on here that the physical aspect of the league should not be underestimated. I suspect his wages were more influencial in allowing him to leave - AP could probabaly get two or three decent league one players for that money.

One other thought. How long will AP need to assess the squad properly before he knows exactly what he needs. So far he has seen one game and had one training session. I suspect we may not see any new faces until next week.

I actually liked the guy- always gave 100%- anyone go to Ipswich away last season- he was brilliant in that game! I would rather have him in centre midfield than pansy L James!

Not by me either ! I think he's a decent footballer but struggled to play in a team as awful as we were TBH

I admit I quite like him - he was a trier and a battler, and probably he seemed worse with the knowledge that he was costing over ten grand a week, but two goals in twenty-odd games up front and an inability to complete so many simples tasks on the pitch meant he just wasn't good enough. A central part in two of the worst seasons in our history meant he was part of the problem, not the solution. God bless Blackpool and their donkey sanctuary

no the Daily Star did.

Mind you Euell had the choice or League 1 or CCC football so maybe we wanted him but he chose to move.

I saw nearly all the home games last year and apart from one or two when he had a good game, in my opinion he was poor bearing in mind the money we were paying him. His shooting was atrocious and I think we are well out if true.

Not dissatisfied with this. I'd like to see Rasiak or John stay, but aside from that it's good to see the older deadwood depart for sunnier climes.

Please don't tell me Holloway has signed sheet of glass Powell as well? He can have Ollie Lancashire and Pulis as well and then his SFC sh!t collection will be complete.

I'd keep Stern John though and it looks like Pardew wants to.

Some of the venom sent in his direction is unfair. I always felt he was working hard and was most effective when used as an old fashioned centre forward. Why the football world, including Euell himself, think that he is a midfielder is beyond me.

Posted

Does make me laugh how fickle people are! Loads of you were going on about him being our best player about 2 months ago! Now everyone's delighted that he's gone. Glad to get rid of his high wages, but he was/is one of our better players IMO. We've got so much sh*t.

Always? Yes Ipswich game he played well, but for the other 60 odd games he played for us he was pants! Good to see the back of him tbh

Great news, Euell had this uncanny ability to allow the ball to run under his foot more times in 90 minutes than i had ever seen before, it really was a trademark skill of his.
