I have to say that's one of the reasons I like Thailand, in that you haven't got a clue what is going to happen. Normal to surreal in 5 yards/seconds.

We'll be taking Koh Phang-Nan in this time around for a bit, so thanks for the warning with regards one eyed longtail coxens!!!

And going back to the naked Katoey, before she/he chased us on her/his moped she jumped out from behind a bush shouting Fck me, Fck me. 4 men combined ages of 120+ then sprinting to our hotel and losing our flip flops, only to be resuced by the Night Guard was funny as fck.

LMFAO! I know a few people, myself included who have had similarly scary incidents of being chased by Katoey's.

If your planning on going to Samui again let me know, as Alex and Dom are still living there, so i can pass on their phone numbers, if you don't have them anymore?

Um when you off to Thailand? I know a few good places on KPG - you should go to the Masons its based on the Stoneham Arms - really surreal to see a mock tudor pub in the middle of the palm trees - run by a Saints fan aswell.

sotonjoe sounds as though knows first hand considering one minute he's a bloke, and the next a bird.

Kings Castle II me up;)

LOL, was sotonjoe the one chasing you down the street, as you did mention another poster from here was present ;)

Not had a drink in there tho - was just finishing being built last time I was there! Its owned by the same people that own the Vantana in Tong Sala (sic).

Can't remember the name of the place, but there is another bar that had a Saints owner in Bophut fishermans village in Koh Samui.

Leaving Thursday!!!

I saw that pub mentioned on a travel forum, but didnt know it was run by a Saints lad. May have to pop in.

We're staying up on Salad Beach (Cookies) for quite a bit, but always up for tips.

Will hopefully catch up with Alright Dave's mate who I first stayed with in 2002. He certainly keeps the Saints flag flying in Samui (particularly when there's a Portsmuff bar down in Chaweng!!!)

Not sure whether to do the Full Moon Party as reckong I'm too old for all that jazz nowadays.

You and Alex should go down the Elephant and Castle on the 8th, as they are big Millwall fans :)

LOL.

Not if we win and want to get out alive. Those two brothers are rather tasty!!!!!

Went there with Alex and watched the Saints v Man Yoo game where Beattie did his ankle in really badly. Did Deldago score first, but we still went on to lose. They were honorary Saints fans that day, I doubt they will be on the 8th!!!

Anyway, my excuse will be that I doubt it will be live anywhere!!!!!

You can love them long time sotonkatoeyjoe ;)

Or we could get you down Thaniya and get more money from the Japanese. I hope you're not too tall.

Leave the FMP - not what it was, too many looking not enough partying! I prefer it on NYE - not so many people and a full on night!

If your staying at Haad Salad then you'll know the Reggae bar owned by Mr Lek - top man!!

Bottle beach is worth an overnight stay.

If you do get in the Masons keep your eye out for a real good friend of mine - older bloke with an old Saints badge (3 roses) tattooed on his forearm. He's actually retired out there (jammy git!).

Oh and as for the Ele & Castle on Samui - those chaps are a bit "large" - good blokes tho and top food. But like you say prob best to stay away on the 8th as we are going to beat 'em!

Christ I need to get back out there and soon!

Not been to Salad beach before, so looking forward to it as it looks quite chilled out, but enough going on not to get too bored.

Spent a couple of nights at Bottle beach a few years back in a really basic bungalow, think I've moved on from that now.

The Elephant and castle is a trip to South East London for sure. As bad as it sounds, we had Sunday Roast before watching the Saints Man Yoo game back in 2002!!!!!

Will have to work out when the Tests are on and get down to the Masons to at least say hello.

Thanks for the info.

I would even wave the bar fines for sotonjoe.;)

I'd tell the pervy Germans that she's good for all things, including doing their washing and housework.:D

On a serious note Um ... you like rain do you?

Nothing better than a tropical storm, whilst swimming in the sea or kicking back on the veranda.

The only time it's not good news is when it trips out the satellite feed as it did in Gullivers, Bangkok when we were watching Saints v Blackburn in 2004.

Saw Saints go one up, then it tripped out, when it came back up we were 2-1 down and then tripped out again. Then came back just as we were awarded a penalty, which Beattie tucked away to win 3-2!!

A good evening that night and bumped into a big group of Saints fans from Chandlers Ford.

Are you worried about the rain making your make-up run?;)

oh StuRomseySaint you do make me giggle - why oh why are you pretending to be at the gym for so long? everyone knows you go to the gym, eye up the talent lift a couple of weights, grunt and leave.

now report back on your findings already....

I spend at least 40 hours a week at a gym thanks, the fact I work at one is neither here nor there, the fact I am a member at another gym, when I could have one for free at my workplace says absolutely nothing about the gym I work at.

Anyway.... moving on....

Nothing to report today. I did notice a possible new signing in the pool, I would have taken a picture, but I got told off for doing that the other week.

So you don't sell memeberships at David Lloyd but you do sell memberships at another gym?

Not in my interest, but wouldn't want you to save long and hard for your annual holidays only to find you've booked to go in the rainy season. Each to their own though; hope you do enjoy it when the sun comes out.

Don't worry Michael Fish, I've travelled extensively throughout South East Asia over the last 10+ years so know full well the seasons.

You'll find that whilst the Andaman Coast does get wetter through June - October, the Gulf Of Thailand has much better weather, particularly the Samui archipelago. Koh Samet is also OK and it's not until you get down to Koh Chang that you start to have problems again with the weather.

That said, I have still had great weather on the Andaman side (Phuket, Ao Nang, Phi Phi and Lanta etc) right throughout August, just accept the regular 5:00pm storm and the odd day that might be washed out.

Have been around Hua Hin, Samui, Koh Tao, Koh Phanghan many times throughout August and it's never been a problem so don't worry about me.

Now of course Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos, parts of South West Thailand and North West Thailand can get loads of rain in August, but you often find that this is one of the prettiest times to travel, particular if you're travlleing along the Tonle Sap, want to see the forests at their most lush and also partake in the festivals around this time.

The Mekong in full flow and paddy fields as far as the eye can see are wonderful sights.

Sometimes I have found the period around Songkran to be too hot and my time in the dust bowl that was Issan was actually too hot. Samet was the same over Easter and we often had to spend most of the day in the shade.

What are you basing your experiences of the weather in Thailand on???

A few websites about weather in Thailand when researching summer holidays (average rainfall tables and such like); some areas clearly wetter than others but there's no getting away from the fact that it's one of the wettest times.

I decided not to risk it and save it for a christmas holiday instead as I would have been pretty disappointed if I experienced too much rain.

As I said, enjoy though.

Oh I see. I was thinking you hand first hand experience as opposed to just surfing the net.

Would have been a interesting conversation had it turned out that you knew what you were talking about;)

If you had experienced the weather in South East Asia, then you would have found out that most of the rain comes in very short bursts (with most of it overnight).

A very, very heavy downpour for 30 mins to an hour, very often as the day draws to an end which can make for a great way to end a day as you sit having a beer on the veranda watching the rain come down.

Spectacular storms to watch, which very quickly blow over, cool the evening down, make everything lush and due to the high temperatures, there is pretty quickly no sign of the earlier storm.

And even if it happens in the middle of the day, then you have to experience walking in 30 degrees along the beach or even swimming as the rain falls. A rather surreal experience.

Rather than rely on statistics from websites, I much prefer to rely on my many experiences if that's OK with you, and my experiences of South East Asia in August have been brilliant.

As I said Um, genuine comments and I hope you enjoy your holiday. If you want to troll and try to start an argument about the weather of all things then you'll have to wait until a proper mug comes along.

And my comments were genuine as well, hell, I've even gone out of my way to provide you with an insight into the weather over there and how you shouldn't be put off by some statistics or websites.

Please don't judge me by your own rather low standards.

Breaking News From David LLoyd

I am currently reporting live from David Lloyd where I can confirm that todays sightings are once again the British Sailing Team, not only that, but Paul Telfer.

He was spotted entering the Sauna at about 11:35am, I am unable to confirm if this was after a workout or if he was simply visiting for a Sauna.

I would have gone and asked him a few questions but

a) It's very gay speaking to football players when they are out it public and probably quite annoying.

b) It is super dupa gay following a football player into a sauna to have a chat.

That's all for now, well almost all, our old goalkeeper coach ( Coles ) has just walked past. Impressive stuff.

I'm not certain here, but are you exclaiming "Impressive stuff" at Coles' physique? If you are then I wouldn't have thought you'd have a problem following Telfs into the sauna.

What was more impressive was the bright orange tie he was wearing. It looked as though he was wearing it for a bet.
