bungle Posted 20 July, 2009 Posted 20 July, 2009 Just noticed that about 50% of the adverts on Sky seem to be for golfing holidays (mainly in Portugal) at the moment. Do many people actually go on golfing holidays? And do they play 36 holes of golf a day, or is it just a p*ss up?!
Smirking_Saint Posted 20 July, 2009 Posted 20 July, 2009 I'd love to go on a golfing holiday with the lads. And yes, pretty much 36 holes then getting ****ed up.
saint_stevo Posted 20 July, 2009 Posted 20 July, 2009 Went to Okehampton on a golfing weekend once, not quite Portugal but it was bloody brilliant. Golf in the day, buggy for the second 18, few beers with the lads in the bar after then back to shower and off into town for the evening. Quality.
Dog Posted 20 July, 2009 Posted 20 July, 2009 Has anyone been to the golf corses which have naked birds caddying?
St Will Posted 20 July, 2009 Posted 20 July, 2009 Has anyone been to the golf corses which have naked birds caddying? Rio Secco in Las Vegas have caddies called T-Mates, they're all smoking hot women all wearing very little....glorified strippers to be honest!! I've been there a few times, as the Butch Harmon golf school is there. http://www.riosecco.net/sites/courses/layout9.asp?id=604&page=32616
Mao Cap Posted 20 July, 2009 Posted 20 July, 2009 My bro's going on one to Prague tomorrow. Didn't even know the Czechs had golf courses. I believe it's roughly 50% hungover golf, 50% getting drunk.
bungle Posted 21 July, 2009 Author Posted 21 July, 2009 When you get to said destination, is it customary to remember that you can't actually play golf at all, and you just got conned in to going for the 'craic'?
Redbul Posted 21 July, 2009 Posted 21 July, 2009 http://www.waltersgolf.com/par-mates-caddy-program.asp Cheers Dog, I've got Sally caddying for me at Hockley next week....
Webby Posted 21 July, 2009 Posted 21 July, 2009 I'm up for a game in the southampton region if anyone's looking for one.
red and white saint Posted 21 July, 2009 Posted 21 July, 2009 Ive been a few and only ever play 18 holes and it is one big **** up as soon as you finish golf
Give it to Ron Posted 21 July, 2009 Posted 21 July, 2009 Had several long weekends playing in Ireland...some fantastic courses and very reasonable. I was playing one in Lurgan during a lull in the troubles years ago, just about to play a shot when a helicopter appeared over the trees with a couple of soldiers with armalite rifles looking down - does wonders for your concentration. A fantastic place to play golf, great people, great courses and the black stuff is brilliant in its own country - different taste in the North to South.
Smirking_Saint Posted 21 July, 2009 Posted 21 July, 2009 I'm up for a game in the southampton region if anyone's looking for one. I'll give you a game, though i am not called sally, have smaller breasts and will only take my bottoms off if i don't beat the womens tee. Plus you have to be prepared to search for my ball
skintsaint Posted 21 July, 2009 Posted 21 July, 2009 cant wait to retire from playing footie on Sundays to getting into golf if them caddies are anything to go by
eurosaint Posted 21 July, 2009 Posted 21 July, 2009 I've had female caddies on many occasions but sadly not the type you get with 'Par Mates' ! The ones I had were in China and Indonesia and though they sort of knew their stuff it was a bit embarrassing having a tiny woman carrying a big golf bag in 40degree heat while I nonchalantly strolled around holding a little pink umbrella to keep the sun off ! Happy days...
hamster Posted 21 July, 2009 Posted 21 July, 2009 I plated this evening at Otterbourne, and I am still damp.
Smirking_Saint Posted 21 July, 2009 Posted 21 July, 2009 I plated this evening at Otterbourne, and I am still damp. Played at the Muni course. And yes, equally damp, but nothing to do with the caddies
hamster Posted 21 July, 2009 Posted 21 July, 2009 Played at the Muni course. And yes, equally damp, but nothing to do with the caddies I must stress that I am absolutley carp at golf, but do enjoy it. I am just getting used to Otterbourne after playing at Fleming Park last year. Still think they should have kept it open and saved a few bucks by the council running it themselves as opposed to contracting it out. Who goes there now? Just bloomin dog walkers and doggers I bet. What waste.
saint_stevo Posted 21 July, 2009 Posted 21 July, 2009 cant play because i am a cripple. I would beat you all though
Deano6 Posted 21 July, 2009 Posted 21 July, 2009 I must stress that I am absolutley carp at golf, but do enjoy it. I am just getting used to Otterbourne after playing at Fleming Park last year. What waste. I played at Otterbourne and, intending to go round twice to make the full 18, walked off on the 9th after landing in heavy rough and chipping it straigh into a 2 inch drain, forcing a further drop. I didn't hit a single fairway that day. Last week played at Ampfield, opposite Keats, on the Par 3 and was bang on form again.
Smirking_Saint Posted 22 July, 2009 Posted 22 July, 2009 Rosebowl is a nice 9 hole course, didn't really like flemming park, it was very tight. The Muni course is actually a very good council run course tbh, very well maintained, you just have to put up with the odd chav on the course and the odd divot that had not been filled in (as i found out) Not very good either but slowly improving, it's putting that lets me down massively.
Hatch Posted 22 July, 2009 Posted 22 July, 2009 I plated this evening at Otterbourne, and I am still damp. ????????????? There is a golf course in Otterbourne ?

Otterbourne isn't a bad course, but Ampfield is great for improving your short game. Last time I went to Ireland I played here.... http://www.kinsalegolf.com/ Not to be confused with http://oldhead.com/ , I'm not that rich!!!!
Saint Keith Posted 22 July, 2009 Posted 22 July, 2009 i played my first competition sunday after my operation, gross 84. was very happy with that. net 70, lost on countback
Dog Posted 22 July, 2009 Posted 22 July, 2009 Playing here in a couple of weeks: http://www.balihaigolfclub.com/ £180 a round.
Nineteen Canteen Posted 22 July, 2009 Posted 22 July, 2009 cant think of anything worse... Spending two weeks trawling around the more seedier parts of Thailand in amongst a load of sweaty and leery Germans. No decent bloke should admit to that type of holiday and then regale us all of their 'funny' stories about goosing a young lady and finding something almost less than expected. Oh how we ran afterwards......! Single male or group male holidays in Thailand are deeply odd and disturbing but golfing holidays probably worse especially when you consider the miles of beautiful coastal pathways to enjoy and goose a hiker.
Nineteen Canteen Posted 22 July, 2009 Posted 22 July, 2009 I'm up for a game in the southampton region if anyone's looking for one. According to Hamster try Fleming Park still a good chance to play around but go careful quite a few dog legs.

Worrying about knocking her teeth out because she doesn't know where to stand would put me off my game... Nice t:ts mind...

hamster Posted 22 July, 2009 Posted 22 July, 2009 ????????????? There is a golf course in Otterbourne ? http://www.golftoday.co.uk/clubhouse/coursedir/hampshire/ottebourne.html btw, with rubbish bins at most tees, why do people have to chuch rubbish around the course up there? There are dozens and dozens of discarded bottles and cans all over the place.
Redbul Posted 22 July, 2009 Posted 22 July, 2009 According to Hamster try Fleming Park still a good chance to play around but go careful quite a few dog legs. Have a job, it's been closed down. And I dunno about dog legs, it was dog eggs I used to worry about up there.
saint_stevo Posted 22 July, 2009 Posted 22 July, 2009 Otterbourne is a joke of a course! £6 for 9 is about £5.50 too much
hamster Posted 22 July, 2009 Posted 22 July, 2009 When are we going to have a forum tournament? Get on it boys. 9 holes only to make it do-able for all interested parties and a ckoff trophy for winner and best dressed caddy. I will caddy for beer.

I can kinda play at the moment, but not 100%..... I'd be game
Smirking_Saint Posted 23 July, 2009 Posted 23 July, 2009 I'd be in........................... the bushes, the water hazards and the bunkers. But id turn up
Lets B Avenue Posted 23 July, 2009 Posted 23 July, 2009 If we book it as a Society, it would probably have to be midweek (Friday). I would recomend Wellow.
Give it to Ron Posted 23 July, 2009 Posted 23 July, 2009 If we book it as a Society, it would probably have to be midweek (Friday). I would recomend Wellow. I was a member there for a couple of years...I wouldn't as there are far better courses around. Rock hard greens just cut out of the fairways - the C course is abysmal. My recommendations would be Dudsbury, Barton, Crane Valley, East Horton, Botley or if your really up for a challenge Hamptworth. Dibden is decent but 5 hour rounds are the norm. If you play at Wellow watch that Derry...he is pretty good round there.
Lets B Avenue Posted 23 July, 2009 Posted 23 July, 2009 I played there in april and it was in good nick. Agree about C course, so stick to A & B. I suggested it as it is fairly cheap, central and has a half decent bar.
saint_stevo Posted 23 July, 2009 Posted 23 July, 2009 I only play Stoneham, Rowlands, Royal and South Winch, Alresford, Hayling or Waterlooville in Hants. I need some sort of challenge. Wellow is gash, Botley Park and Meon are crazy busy and boring tracks. Hamptworth is ok, but long so playing with hackers round there is painful

Glasgow_Saint Posted 27 July, 2009 Posted 27 July, 2009 What about Paultons? good course! it's a hoot
hamster Posted 27 July, 2009 Posted 27 July, 2009 Are we doing this then? Who's good at organising these kind of things? Note: I am only up for caddying and opening beer cans. Usual rates (1 beer per hour).
