Saint in Paradise Posted 19 July, 2009 Share Posted 19 July, 2009 We all know that men take pain better than the ladies but do you agree with this Doctor ? Dr Denis Walsh, a male associate professor in midwifery at Nottingham University, said women should endure the pain of labour without anaesthetic drugs. He said it was a "rite of passage" which helped regulate childbirth and made it easier for mothers to bond with their babies. Walsh said pain during childbirth was a "purposeful, useful thing" which "prepared mothers for the demands of motherhood". hamster Posted 19 July, 2009 Share Posted 19 July, 2009 /\ You're on your own here mate. Good luck for when the girls log on later, after they have finished the housework and put the roast in.
bridge too far Posted 19 July, 2009 Share Posted 19 July, 2009 On balance, I'd agree with him. I had three children without any sort of intervention and, looking back on it, it wasn't so bad. And they were all over 7lb. Having said that, my youngest daughter was induced recently and that can be very painful, so she had an epidural. Just as well since her son weighed in at over 9lb. But my daughter-in-law (who's 5' 4" and a size 10) gave birth to a 10.5lb monster without any pain relief  But I reckon it's up to the individual. However I also reckon that, if men gave birth, each family would only ever have one child Oh and BTW Mr TF is doing the roast whilst I watch the cricket. sotonjoe Posted 19 July, 2009 Share Posted 19 July, 2009 How on earth he can be in a position to make a claim like that without ever having experienced the pain I don't know.

Poshie72 Posted 19 July, 2009 Share Posted 19 July, 2009 I agree with BTF. I have 3 children 2 of with with no pain relief and I dont remember that there was any difference. I think alot depends on your pain threshold. And I also agree that if men gave birth then there would only be one child per family
Baj Posted 19 July, 2009 Share Posted 19 July, 2009 To be honest, I'd rather feel the pain of childbirth for my wife, rather than hear her ****ing moan about it for the next 50 years.
