Mozza's Quiff Posted 17 July, 2009 Posted 17 July, 2009 Would'nt want him back he's too reckless-a poormans darren purse.
Doctoroncall Posted 17 July, 2009 Posted 17 July, 2009 Leeds are one of the better teams in this sh*te league and Prutton has not managed to play on a regular basis for any of their recent managers. He had a chance to shine with Forest when they were in this league but got himself sent off with a reckless challenge in the play-off semi and Forest went on to lose that game. Calderwood soon got rid of him. I was pleased when he first came to us but soon realied he was not up to it. Too few good moments playing for us. He played 40 odd games the year Leeds got to the play-offs, it was last season that he hardly played, probably due to Grayson coming in. If he's a Pulis replacement then OK I can see that as an improvement taking into account his reckless challenges and woeful positional sense, but I'm sure there are other players available and I'm not talking EPL/CCC players as they are out of reach. What about the Knightlys, Gowers, Pratelys, Mackell-Smiths, Boyds, Mattocks, Togwells etc, etc.
Doctoroncall Posted 17 July, 2009 Posted 17 July, 2009 Cheers for that. Which begs the question - why is he still at Leeds and not playing in a higher division? Oh and how old is he now? 28 this September
Nellie Posted 17 July, 2009 Posted 17 July, 2009 Prutts still holds the record number of England Under-21 caps. Er, no he doesn't. In fact it's not even close. James Milner has been playing for the under 21s for about five years. (A quick check reveals he is seventh on the list) HTH He's still much better than Wotton/Pulis though.
docker-p Posted 17 July, 2009 Posted 17 July, 2009 Not sure what he's been up to the last couple of years, but i would have him back. You can be sure he would be 100% committed and we have certainly lacked players like that recently.
Matthew Le Tissier Posted 17 July, 2009 Author Posted 17 July, 2009 Er, no he doesn't. In fact it's not even close. James Milner has been playing for the under 21s for about five years. (A quick check reveals he is seventh on the list) HTH He's still much better than Wotton/Pulis though. he was when the article was written......cheers
Fitzhugh Fella Posted 17 July, 2009 Posted 17 July, 2009 A very backward step - couldn't even get near Leeds' first team last seaon. I hear he is a nice genuine fella but his day has come and gone.
NickG Posted 17 July, 2009 Posted 17 July, 2009 we certainly do..this season is going to be long... so what if he is not fitting in at leeds..very much doubt we will buying straight from the CCC to fill all the gaps.. we NEED league 1 experience to fill some of the gaps...he has that.. hasnt also been in a playoff situation with leeds also..so know what it takes to push on in a long season...that experience could be valuable.. disagree, would be happy with a squad without single player who played in league 1. Good players, playing in their right position, organised, motivated and confident. If they were all from abroad, or CCC or premiership - probably would do better than lower level players
The boy done well Posted 17 July, 2009 Posted 17 July, 2009 A very backward step - couldn't even get near Leeds' first team last seaon. I hear he is a nice genuine fella but his day has come and gone. Totally agree
Psycrow Posted 17 July, 2009 Posted 17 July, 2009 Never fogiven him for missing an empty goal from 6 yards out away at WBA the season we got relegated from the Prem. Had he put that away it could have been a different story. lol That's the bit you don't forgive him for in the season we got relegated? Wow Anyway. I think he's be a good signing... As DD says, it doesn't matter that he's played for us before.. and as for resigning our castoffs? If you can actually call him that, i'm sure reducing wages was part of the reason of getting rid of him at the time, but we are in a lower league than when we parted company with him remember. I seem to remember people complaining about him getting his 10 match ban "If he hadn't have been so stupid and been available for us, we might have stayed up" But now he's not good enough for League 1?
John B Posted 17 July, 2009 Posted 17 July, 2009 A very backward step - couldn't even get near Leeds' first team last seaon. I hear he is a nice genuine fella but his day has come and gone. Yes a bit of sense being posted Prutton has had his day however I would have back Matt Mills Cranie Blackstock Howard maybe others too
philelec Posted 17 July, 2009 Posted 17 July, 2009 Ok jenny his mrs is staying with her old dear for a week while David's in Ireland with leeds. So that changes that! I will have a word with the club employee! So if he is in Ireland with Leeds, how can he be in Southamton for a week? If he can be in two places at once - we need him!
Psycrow Posted 17 July, 2009 Posted 17 July, 2009 so...we going to be buying from the CCC/Prem then... LOL Some people don't understand the theory of slowly building a successful team
4737_carlin Posted 17 July, 2009 Posted 17 July, 2009 The blokes a total tosser and spent most of his Saints days being ****ed in bedford place.
Stattmeister Posted 17 July, 2009 Posted 17 July, 2009 I hear from a club employee who can't be named mr prutton is in Southampton for a week having talks about a possible return? Any thoughts! I for one would stick him straight in the middle and give hi the armband! Would be a great addition! Sorry -this being the same friend that told you about Pardew's hair being dyed grey?! That was a scoop and a half. I liked him when he was here, but that was then, this is now. As stated earlier, cheap wages (I doubt) and free, then MAYBE as a squad player. I just think there are better midfield options out there (not withstanding what we already have - Gillett, Wooton, Morgan, James?). we need more creativity, and certainly focus up top at the minute, especially if John/Euell/Rasiak/Saga go (of which I suspect we may keep 1 of them...), rather than holding mids.
StuRomseySaint Posted 17 July, 2009 Posted 17 July, 2009 The blokes a total tosser and spent most of his Saints days being ****ed in bedford place. I've spent most of my Saints days getting ****ed in town, what's wrong with that?
ladysaint Posted 17 July, 2009 Posted 17 July, 2009 Yes please if he could bring Kevin Davies back as well I would be well happy.
smithy Posted 17 July, 2009 Posted 17 July, 2009 Yes please if he could bring Kevin Davies back as well I would be well happy. All the girls liked Prutton
saintstr1 Posted 17 July, 2009 Posted 17 July, 2009 I would have thought Pardews first priority would be to sort out the players here that are out of contract or looking to move on , Rasiak , John , Euell , Saga. If we could afford to keep 2 or 3 of these and sign up Murty I think we could have the backbone of a good team for Division 1. I agree we still need some new players but we have some good ones under our noses if they had the right Manager to sort them out, which I think Pardew will do.
ART Posted 17 July, 2009 Posted 17 July, 2009 Forward to the Past comes to mind. I thought we were going to move forward not resurrect the past. His sending off and attack on the ref is one of the saddest moments in all the time of following Saints. How about Blackstock to thank him for his **** ups in the play offs or some of the other ghosts from the past. He's been a total failure seeing how we paid 2 million for him and were told he had a great future ahead of him. That was 6 years ago. If anyone, it's Matt Oakley we could do with bringing back.
Minsk Posted 17 July, 2009 Posted 17 July, 2009 The question that should be asked about ANY prospective new player, regardless of whether he has previously played for us or not or where he coming from, is this: is he better than we already have? IMO, Prutton is a better CM than Wotton, Pulis, Morgan and Gobern. which would put him in contention with Gillett and James for a starting spot. So yes, I would take him. However, I would rather have Pele back to fill a CM slot (but def not CB) and I expect there are many others who could be brought in. Also, I think our defence and a striker should be the first priorities.
Windmill Arm 2 Posted 17 July, 2009 Posted 17 July, 2009 I hear from a club employee who can't be named mr prutton is in Southampton for a week having talks about a possible return? Any thoughts! I for one would stick him straight in the middle and give hi the armband! Would be a great addition! I'd rather have Rory Dollop back. Pruttons temprement was a liability
camdijk Posted 17 July, 2009 Posted 17 July, 2009 So if he is in Ireland with Leeds, how can he be in Southamton for a week? If he can be in two places at once - we need him! If you read the post correctly you would realise that his WIFE is in Southampton whilst DP is with Leeds in Ireland. HTH ;-)
golfdelsur Posted 17 July, 2009 Posted 17 July, 2009 Wouldnt say no to Prutton coming back. As for captain, my money is on Murty! Cant be coincedence that he's here training and Pardew turns up.
Hopkins Posted 17 July, 2009 Posted 17 July, 2009 No thanks. As i'm sure has been pointed out in this thread to the idiots who would love him back...He couldn't get in the Leeds team last season. People need to realise players change. He's changed from the promising Under 21 captain and Prem League player to someone who's been found out as only having a bit of energy and very little technical ability at all.
St_Tel49 Posted 18 July, 2009 Posted 18 July, 2009 That's the bit you don't forgive him for in the season we got relegated? Wow Anyway. I think he's be a good signing... I seem to remember people complaining about him getting his 10 match ban "If he hadn't have been so stupid and been available for us, we might have stayed up" But now he's not good enough for League 1? Yes - just prior to that he had begun to show the potential that everyone said he had and then suddenly it all went wrong. Anyway I think that this thread started on a false premise and he is not seriously under consideration.
St_Tel49 Posted 18 July, 2009 Posted 18 July, 2009 No thanks. As i'm sure has been pointed out in this thread to the idiots who would love him back...He couldn't get in the Leeds team last season. CougarSaint Posted 18 July, 2009 Posted 18 July, 2009 Live in Yorkshire (we are southerners always grates a bit, but I know it's a wind up), support Saints, Prutton's not good enough for Leeds and the fact is we have to be better than Leeds, and a few others, to get out of this division. So where does that leave Prutton, who can't get into Leeds first team? Give me Gillett and Lallana any day (based purely on watching matches in the ferret breeding cap flat wearing north of course).
Arizona Posted 18 July, 2009 Posted 18 July, 2009 No thanks. As i'm sure has been pointed out in this thread to the idiots who would NOT love him back... we've been playing Anthony f**king Pulis on a regular basis thus far in pre season. Forget Leeds, without Lowe being retarded and his Dad picking him at Stoke, I doubt he'd get into Eastleight reserves. It's about improving our squad. I don't care how far Prutts has fallen from taking Liverpool apart in '05, I'd still pick him ahead of any midfielder put Gillett.
spain saint Posted 18 July, 2009 Posted 18 July, 2009 culd we also get beattie back so we can resurect the dream team on the radio!! "Prutts and Beats" "Beats and Prutts"
bugenhagen Posted 18 July, 2009 Posted 18 July, 2009 (edited) Yes please if he could bring Kevin Davies back as well I would be well happy. Ice in hell and all that, but a sweet dream... Love it! Would give Prutton a second chance based on Arizonas arguments. (I allways seem to agree with you on players, allthough I don't post that much, but I read a heck of a lot ). Edited 18 July, 2009 by bugenhagen
carljack Posted 18 July, 2009 Posted 18 July, 2009 Just my opinion, but I think Gillett is better now than Prutton ever was. Maybe a slightly different type of player, but Gillett is a fantastic battling midfielder with a cracking attitude. Prutton Gillet central with Lallana inbetween them and Stern John would do for me!
The Godfather Posted 18 July, 2009 Posted 18 July, 2009 Prutton Gillet central with Lallana inbetween them and Stern John would do for me! No pace in the side though.
trousers Posted 18 July, 2009 Posted 18 July, 2009 Did someone mention prutton...? http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?p=381171&highlight=Prutton#post381171
musesaint Posted 18 July, 2009 Posted 18 July, 2009 Not unless he's had total attitude and self control transplants ..... oh yea and a full skill graft
John B Posted 18 July, 2009 Posted 18 July, 2009 Prutton Gillet central with Lallana inbetween them and Stern John would do for me! Have you seen Prutton and John play lately they are possibly not as good as as they were in the past. Neither of them were regulars last season
david in sweden Posted 18 July, 2009 Posted 18 July, 2009 I hear from a club employee who can't be named mr prutton is in Southampton for a week having talks about a possible return? Any thoughts! I for one would stick him straight in the middle and give hi the armband! Would be a great addition! Had the capacity to be a good player..sometimes. MAYBE ...if he can play in matches where there doesn't have to be a referee on the pitch, too ! Bring on the men in the white coats ! I saw him in the notorious game at SMS where he attacked both ref. and linesman... (Mike Tyson would have been shaking in his boots.!) ...that cost HIM a 10 week suspension.. and (partially) Saints relegation.
Singapore Saint Posted 22 July, 2009 Posted 22 July, 2009 I hear from a club employee who can't be named mr prutton is in Southampton for a week having talks about a possible return? Any thoughts! I for one would stick him straight in the middle and give hi the armband! Would be a great addition! I rated Stuart Ripley the worst player I have ever seen play for Saints until Self-destruct Prutton came along. http://www.singasaints.com/red_and_white_army.html
JustMike Posted 22 July, 2009 Posted 22 July, 2009 i think he would be good, add a bit of passion and steel to the middle, something we have been lacking for years
Singapore Saint Posted 22 July, 2009 Posted 22 July, 2009 The standard of our catering has dropped since Lowe left and the standard of our clapping has fallen since Prutton left.
Singapore Saint Posted 22 July, 2009 Posted 22 July, 2009 i think he would be good, add a bit of passion and steel to the middle, something we have been lacking for years Maybe he'll give you a bit of steel for 30 minutes, but you've got to be prepared to play the other 60 with 10 men.
