RedAndWhite91 Posted 17 July, 2009 Posted 17 July, 2009 Lee Holmes: 'Great news, great for the club, it's a good time... Exciting times... It was dragging on and new board came in, something had to be done, 3 weeks gives Pardew a good time to look at players and bring people in.' Adam Lallana: 'He has a good record so everyone wants that to happen here and hopefully he can do it.' Positivity shown by the players interviewed. Must say I agree with Holmes, definitely exciting times.

offix Posted 17 July, 2009 Posted 17 July, 2009 Useless exercise to ask players for reactions. What are they going to say: "i hate him, he sucks"? Let their actions on the field speak for them. Their words mean nothing without proof on the pitch.

It'll be interesting to see the performances/effort from the likes of Lallana and Rasiak tomorrow, given that they've been among the most maligned so far this pre-season. It's amazing how players can raise their game when they're genuinely playing for their places...
Frank's cousin Posted 17 July, 2009 Posted 17 July, 2009 thing is you cant blame the players, they just get a mike stuck in their faces and have to give the positive line whatever - its the journos asking these daft questions... Steve the thing about playing for places though only works for players who actually want to play v happy to sit on backsides and take the money... I hope Rasiak is committed because if he is, he will get a hatful (or should).. Lallana just needs to get fit.

The Farmer Posted 17 July, 2009 Posted 17 July, 2009 stevegrant said: It's amazing how players can raise their game when they're genuinely playing for their places... One of my pet gripes of the modern game. High weekly salaries over long contracts means you don't get any more Mickey Evans types in your team, busting their balls every single week. Its to easy to see your motivation suffer when you are on £5k a week for the next 3 years.
Window Cleaner Posted 17 July, 2009 Posted 17 July, 2009 Quote Lallana just needs to get fit. And to learn to kick the ball properly. He'll be sold, Pardew will have no time for a wimp such as he.

If we can sniff a good fee it might make sense. The guy seems to have problems with "kicking". "Kicking" is quite important for football IMO.
