Getting on for almost 20 years and my irrational "hatred" of Everton is probably based on no more than Adrian Heath and that semi (although Being brought up to boo John Bailey may have had a subconscious effect as well!!).

As for this thread, I wouldn't read too much into it, it's mainly one dinlo who probably doesn't even know who Adrian Heath is if his posts are anything to go by.

John Bailey, a real cult hate figure, even changed clubs but still hated

never really hated Heath just what he did, but although i believe LM to have been great for the club, i do blame him for that defeat , he should have never played Steve Williams as our record showed after the Semi

As I asked before, are you after some record for being the most prolific poster in the shortest time?

When I get back from the match later, I'll be interested to see whether you've been on here picking an argument with yourself.

are you sure you are not Scooby or Sundance

Who on earth are scooby or sundance? what stupid names! I've been posting since dec 2006 mike, just thought i'd get stuck in to a couple of discussions over the last couple of days, after getting tired of reading the same old moralising by the majority / minority (delete as appropriate).

this poster is very mole/stanley'esq

I think it significant, and more than a little funny, that as soon as somebody posts opinions contrary to those put across by the TSW clique, you try and make out that the poster must be a plant of some sort, or a second log on of some other user!

That is pure 'fingers in ears' territory. Some people just have different opinions, that's life!

What I think is significant is how people from across a wide spectrum (e.g. DellDays and I aren't the best of buddies;)) find you slightly bemusing.

It's not the difference of opinions that appears to be the problem, more the delivery:D

Whatever Um. What is problematic about the delivery? Is it the lack of swearing or insults? Should I sprinkle a few in for effect from now on?

The problem is that there are a handful of posters who put across "opinions" that they know will cause a "reaction", and it is done in such an authoritative way that it makes you believe that these posters are never going to be in a position where they could, or will, ever say "I`m sorry. I was wrong there". Sadly, or maybe not, I believe that you fall into this catagory. SOME people call them Trolls.

I don't create my opinions in the hope they will cause a reaction and I'll happily retract any opnions if somebody persuades me otherwise.

For someone not trying to get a reaction, you do seem to end up in a few arguments. Personally, I find your anti LM stance a bit galling. I am lucky that I was watching Saints when for the 12 years that LM was in charge and he gave times that we can only dream of nowadays. I am not going to list good time because they are well documented, but as far as I am concerned unless LM murders somebody, he will always be welcome at the club and have his say. He deserves a certain amount of respect for what he has done for this club, not snide sniping remarks.

I don't have an anti-LM stance. I'm anti-being told I'm disrespecting him if I don't feel the need to listen to him on the radio. People try and twist that as usual. I'm just happy to stand up for myself, which gets the tag argumentative and that's fine by me! I'm certainly not going to bow down to the trendy view for sake of it.

If you have no interest, then that`s fine, but why post negative things on a thread that was started for the sole purpose of letting people who MAY be interested in what LM has to say if it was not to get a reaction? If you are not interested ignore the thread. It is hardly a controversial thread is it?

I have no interest in hearing what an ex manger has to say about our new manager.

I think that's fair enough and not overly inflammatory.

This should be changed to the I'm bitter and twisted thread.

and

Seems some are bitter and twisted, why I don't know.

I can't see how that can be considered trolling.

Lawrie is a top man like Leon.....Like some posters/fans the life of the mighty Saints..

Luvvies go home...

So anyone who doesn't agree with your point of view is automatically a Lowe Luvvie (and not entitled to an opinion, and therefore (by the inference you make) not a true fan unlike "some posters/fans" who are the "life" of the mighty saints? Rational and Mature.

Maybe some just don't like a drink driving (sorry, Barbican swilling) 'figurehead' who's failed/quit every professional team (England under Graham Taylor, Nord Ireland) since he walked out on us the first time for his 'Spiritul home' (a phrase often used by self aggrandising bull****ters apparently) of Sunderland (not the second when he fell out with that devilish Rupert character from the past, the one so evil that Lawrie Couldn't bear to keep the dirty dirty shares he had gained from the reverse takeover, and swapped it instead for lots of filthy filthy money).

And before anyone asks why I 'just believe what I heard', I've had the good fortune to meet both Ted Bates and Lawrie, most notably at the 'last do at the Dell', where Ted Bates was arguably more muble, with a quiet dignity about hime' whereas lawrie seemed intent on inserting himself into as many photo ops as possible.

Personally, I couldn't give a **** if Mc-money-to-me has a painting of himself hanging in the boardroom, or there's a picture of a train there. I'm much more concerned with seeing the Ted Bates Trophy back in the cabinet by the end of the day, signalling a bright new era for saints.

It goes back to what someone (UM?) said about delivery. I realise that the printed word can appear to have a different meaning to the spoken one, but to me that first quote came across as smug, arrogant and antogonistic. It may have been factually correct but goes back to "if you are not interested, why post on this thread?"

As you say, your interpretation is entirely subjective.

Discussions are for the exchange of opinions, if we all posted "yes" it would all be rather fruitless.

Oh ...and you might want to read Guan's post before you call me antagonistic. ;-)

Some might find him interesting but I wouldn't have used that word myself. Tedious, contrary or narcissistic might more easily fit the bill.

Frankly, if that's the way he holds conversations then I'd be surprised if people don't find somewhere else to be whenever he's around. A good opinionated exchange of views can be a great way to spend an hour or two but most probably know when to move onto something else.

You're easily pleased if you think scanning the front page of a message board is "such lengths". :D

Maybe it's the lack of "such length" in your pants that makes you crave the attention on here;)

It's down to 8 now with this post.

:smt054After that last post, you can have all 9 threads:smt054

It's still a little odd to be interested Um ... what conclusions can you draw from the number of threads somebody posted the last thread in? That nobody else has posted yet!?!?!? Fascinating stuff.

I don't have a penis, as I'm female you silly boy.

Keep me updated though ...

edit - just got it up to 16 ... does that help you make some fascinating conclusions?

Quarantined with swine flu and I've managed 30ish posts today

You on the other hand have managed 120ish.

Now who puts a lot of time in to it???:D

I can post you a link with the stats if you want;)

Can I say that I managed to get a recording of the Talksport interview with LM. Just get in touch with me Sotonjoe if you want to listen to it .....

How about the following players who have publicly backed Lawrie at events (or in private) I have been to over the years:

Osgood

Channon (who shared a platform with him recently)

Rodrigues

Fisher

Bennett

Ball

Williams

Wallace

Peach

Steele

I really could go on and on and on (let me know if you need any more names)

Those qualities which made him effective as a manager made him totally unbearable when DOF. When Alan Ball was asked about working with him as DOF he said he was an absolute nightmare, with the only thing noticeable that he would never of picked a certain player on the team sheet. John McGrath was so happy with him he wanted to give him a special kiss. And the guy behind me who asked Terry Paine if Lawrie had a forward in his book at the signing should have been far more careful.

So now we've gone from every player who has worked with him not having anything good to say about him, to Bally commenting on him about his stint as a DOF, and Paine, whose strained relationship with Lawrie has been public knowledge for almost 40 years, being held up as a justification of your carte blanche claim.

Well done.

Only slightly moving the goalposts there then LOL.
