Alan Pardew to be manager (BBC)

Pardew had many doubters at West Ham to begin with but in the end he won many of them over. There were still a hardcore who refused to take to him despite the fact that West Ham played some fantastic football with him in charge. He got them promoted via the play offs and to the FA Cup final where they drew 3-3 with Liverpool, only to lose on pens.

I watched Pardew's Reading team for a couple of years. He made some astute signings in that time and laid the foundations for Coppell take Reading forward.

He's a good and safe choice for us. I am certain he'll stop the slide and consolidate. It would be a big ask to gain promotion with the -10 points but next year I reckon we will do it.

I am pleased

i very much with the 'meh' camp, feel a bit deflated by the appointment but that has already discussed. however i do feel its a small risk in that i feel, as everyone is saying we are a L1 club now he will have quite a short honeymoon period. he needs to hit the ground running in the league, anything less than a spectacular start will turn most of the people in the 'meh' camp into people in the 'firmly against' camp.

of course he will get my full support but i think it would have been good for all the hype about the 'big names' to have continued and even employed, we as fans need it after the last few years.

i think the big rise in the feel good factor at the club will now level out and that the Ajax match wont be as much of a party that it would have been before this news came out, maybe should have been saved until after the weekend, of course just my opinion

Realistically who did you expect ? We are in League One so we are not likely to get Fabio Capello or Jose Mourinho !!

A Good solid appointment who was not considered on the "polls" on here, shows how much we know.

i pushed for Alan Knill but Pardew is a good appointment, especially because he will have contacts both at our current level but also with higher clubs where loanees will come from

Well at last things are being sorted out at our club. New owners (with a Euro or two to spend); new manager with very good knowledge of the league and no doubt good contacts.

Pardew always struck me as a manager who would give his all and adopt a seige mentality - something that we need starting on -10 points.

Given our current position - a pretty good appointment IMO.

Now looking forward to getting in some players and the start of the season.
