CB Fry Posted 16 July, 2009 Posted 16 July, 2009 For anyone scratching their head, you need to go to the BBC Sport homepage (not the football homepage or any Saints specific page). Tis on the ticker there. Sky Sports News no mention.
Dicko Posted 16 July, 2009 Posted 16 July, 2009 Ok, so who's going to own up? Who had bets at 20/1 this morning?

Badger Posted 16 July, 2009 Posted 16 July, 2009 Just so that we are all prepared for the inevitable after a good start to the season, where is Pardew's spiritual home ? Presume its Palace.
miserableoldgit Posted 16 July, 2009 Posted 16 July, 2009 Just thought I would start a new thread to discuss this now it is in a more official capacity. Every thread I have looked at tonight has you saying that it`s Pardew! Genuine?? Why has it taken so long???
sotonjoe Posted 16 July, 2009 Posted 16 July, 2009 mixed feelings, but still maintain he's about as big a name with about as much of a 'proven' record as we can hope for in our current position.
saint_stevo Posted 16 July, 2009 Posted 16 July, 2009 mixed feelings, but still maintain he's about as big a name with about as much of a 'proven' record as we can hope for in our current position. exactly, a L1 club who will still be bottom by the end of August.....with a mish mash squad but with an owner who has a few quid.

saint_stevo Posted 16 July, 2009 Posted 16 July, 2009 i can't find odds anywhere now book was closing at 9pm each day anyway
chrisobee Posted 16 July, 2009 Posted 16 July, 2009 several bookmakers? only skybet were offering any odds! They clearly don't read this site either ! :smt102
saint_stevo Posted 16 July, 2009 Posted 16 July, 2009 He wouldn't be in my top 10 choices. go on then, list em I'm guessing you have TSWML syndrome
Kingsland Red Posted 16 July, 2009 Posted 16 July, 2009 Good manager at Reading, lost his way a bit at West Ham and Charlton. Not a bad appointment I reckon.
hypochondriac Posted 16 July, 2009 Author Posted 16 July, 2009 Not bad but a bit of a meh appointment for me. I was hoping for something really exciting. Never mind.
saint_stevo Posted 16 July, 2009 Posted 16 July, 2009 Good manager at Reading, lost his way a bit at West Ham and Charlton. Not a bad appointment I reckon. took them up........
saint_stevo Posted 16 July, 2009 Posted 16 July, 2009 not bad but a bit of a meh appointment for me. I was hoping for something really exciting. Never mind. League1 -10 hth

saint_stevo Posted 16 July, 2009 Posted 16 July, 2009 Can't find the beting on PaddyPower and that's the only account I currently have. Anyone help find it would be appreciated. Cheers Never seen any odds anywhere other than skybet. do keep up
hypochondriac Posted 16 July, 2009 Author Posted 16 July, 2009 League1 -10 hth As I said I was hoping for something really exciting. Never mind.
Arizona Posted 16 July, 2009 Posted 16 July, 2009 Hardly inspiring, but then neither was Pearson. Overall a good appointment if true. Rather him than many Tony Adams, Peter Reid, Alan Shearer or anyone from Holland. Welcome Alan.
chrisobee Posted 16 July, 2009 Posted 16 July, 2009 Well if we were in a position to pick any manager we wanted then clearly he would not be in the top 10. However, since I believe Fabio Capello is committed to England, SAF to Man U etc, Pardew would be fine by me. Decent manager and no one's fool. I'd be lying if I didn't say WGS would be my 1st choice but behind him there are not many realistic options, Pardew is one of those avaliable and he'd get my support.
Saint_Si Posted 16 July, 2009 Posted 16 July, 2009 Not a bad appointment, but not exactly inspirational either. I guess the jury is still out on him. I'm reasonably happy, but this is somewhere in between WGS and Donkey Adams! Its last chance saloon for him. I'm hoping beyond hope that he'll be a hero...
chrisobee Posted 16 July, 2009 Posted 16 July, 2009 Never seen any odds anywhere other than skybet. do keep up I cannot believe you said that
Saint_Ash Posted 16 July, 2009 Posted 16 July, 2009 From having nearly no team at all to having a billionaire in charge and proven manager (charlton aside, was curbs baby anyway) in Pardew, I'm very happy! We're league 1 on -10 points! Pardew is a brilliant signing for manager, people who think otherwise forget where we were heading before the swiss rolled into town!
saint_stevo Posted 16 July, 2009 Posted 16 July, 2009 I cannot believe you said that Irony my friend Woods needs to perk up a bit tomorrow.........could be winging my way down the itchen bridge come Sunday evening otherwise
sotonjoe Posted 16 July, 2009 Posted 16 July, 2009 book was closing at 9pm each day anyway there yer go then!
LGTL Posted 16 July, 2009 Posted 16 July, 2009 I've always liked him, can't put my finger on why though. I enjoyed his altercation with Wenger a few years back, and I do genuinely believe he will be a passionate manager that will care. How he will do remains to be seen though.

RonManager Posted 16 July, 2009 Posted 16 July, 2009 Strange how there is nowt on SSN, seeing as they put so much store in being first to the news over the Beeb. If it is AP then I'm happy with that.
PaulSaint Posted 16 July, 2009 Posted 16 July, 2009 Pretty pleased TBH, wanted Keegan but that was never gonna happen.
stevegrant Posted 16 July, 2009 Posted 16 July, 2009 As a club starting League One with a ten-point deficit, if we can attract a manager with significant Premier League, Championship AND League One experience, I'll be absolutely delighted.
The Fat Controller Posted 16 July, 2009 Posted 16 July, 2009 is this the best we can get????............... can see us struggle if true but hope not
Evil Monkey Posted 16 July, 2009 Posted 16 July, 2009 Just please we've got someone and it isnt Tony Adama or Peter Reid. Looking forward to signing some players now.
