Anyone got a Terrapin?

Just seen terrapins in a shop, roughly the size of the palm of my hand. Three questions:

 

1) What do they eat?

2) How often do they need to be fed?

3) How big will they grow? I've seen specimens in the wild the size of a small cat, are they a different variety?

I was thinking of getting a couple the other day, but I don't really have enough room outside. Some types only grow up to six inches apparently.

Depends if you want to keep them in a tank or in a pond outside (beware of cats and foxes though). I have 2 tortoises but would like terrapins. Best place to get them from (if you are local) is Emsworth Aquatics, they can give you loads of advice on looking after them also.

We used to get some kind of insect larvae from the pet shop for them when we had them a long time ago. They get big. They smell. They bite. That is all.

Didn't get one in the end, but I did get a Californian King Snake. Apparently this one escaped when it was a youngster and lived ferrell in the pet shop for a year, eating goldfish in the aquatic section, before it was caught.
