CB Fry Posted 17 July, 2009 Share Posted 17 July, 2009 It was as they say just a thought' date=' but like so much seems to get blown out of all proportion... and what was all that boll ox about the Army? see what I mean...[/quote'] But to be fair you started a thread about starting a chant and I get the feeling that come tomorrow afternoon you have no intention of starting a chant about John Hartson at tomorrow's match. Correct me if I'm wrong. So if you don't plan to actually do what you are asking others to do, then you're blowing things out of proportion because the idea of chanting about JH was on absolutely no-one's radar until you started a thread on it. And your grandstanding against those saying "but why?" is a bit hollow if you have no intention of doing the bloody chant anyway. John Hartson has all of our sympathies, and we all have opinions of his ability as a player, pundit and person. The end.

Frank's cousin Posted 17 July, 2009 Author Share Posted 17 July, 2009 why? you want to been seen as having some "class" by chanting out his name in support. Why not send him an expensive get well card to show some class! Look its no different from being proud when our club does its charitable bit - supporting MS with Danny etc, its not a 'need' or 'issue' (as you insult) but a very simple thing that demonstrates that footie fans .... oh feck it whats the point As for UPs 'Dianaesque' comment.... This in not some public outpouring of grief for someone we dont know, just a 30 second reminder from a bunch of scroats that football fans can call you a **** one minute yet can transcend above that on the things that really matter and show some fecking support - hardly a major issue is it? um pahars Posted 17 July, 2009 Share Posted 17 July, 2009 Trouble was, Frank, that you asked people to show their class. They did. Do you seriously think there is any semblence of class in chanting John Hartson's name tomorrow??? None of the posts against the idea have been heartless, crass or lacking in class, and if anything the idea of chanting his name in order to show others how great we are is itself rather lacking in class. sotonjoe Posted 17 July, 2009 Share Posted 17 July, 2009 If we could dig up something of a military past for Hartson, could we give him a chant or two then? ;-)

But Danny Wallace had an association with the Club for 10+ years, whilst we don't know John Hartson anymore than we knew Alan Stubbs, Neil Harris, Geoff Thomas, Bryan Gunn, Gary McAllister, Colin Hendry etc etc etc.

sotonjoe Posted 17 July, 2009 Share Posted 17 July, 2009 "We continue to be overwhelmed by the many thousands of messages of support and goodwill that continue to come in from football supporters, ordinary people, clubs, and sporting figures from around the world. "We continue to take great strength and comfort from these messages." Sounds like they're asking for a song to me ;-)

Whatever UP, I just wonder had someone else suggested this whether you would be so...whats the word... ? maybe I'm just being paranoid... If you want to turn a simple suggestion into something else, go ahead, but if you are suggesting the REASON for it was to look good as oppose that being a by-product of it then thats rather misguided - the fact I said it would show a bit of class was not the reason for suggesting it, which I suspect you know... sotonjoe Posted 18 July, 2009 Share Posted 18 July, 2009 So how long did the chanting go on for? The army one; the Hartson one; the happy birthday alan pardew one or the charming one about kicking pompey supporters' heads in?
