I spotted one of his machines - a digger - working for the Environment agency behind the sea defences at Selsey the other day. Is there no end to his beneficial efforts for the South coast of England? Has anyone else spotted any Liebherr machines anywhere else?

Bud

They are abound in our field of work (fridges and freezers)but we don't get to see many cause they are too reliable!!

Surely, they aren't his machines as he has nothing to do with the running of the Liebherr group any more. He runs his own companies now and I think they all come under the "Mali" banner.

In the sidings at Woking train station, 2 of them.

(Although technically they belong to his Brothers and Sister.)

I would think they belonged to whoever bought them.

Saw one digging up a main road (A40 i think) in central london the other day, nearly crashed when I saw the huge LIEBHERR sign on the back of this enormous drilling machine! clearly the guy is a dominant force in construction hence his billions!

There are two of the big drilling machines on the M3 in the roadworks at Junction 3 Camberley (London bound carriageway). Been there for several months but for obvious reasons have only just noticed the name on the back!

Way back in the late 80s I worked as a draughtsman for a pre-cast concrete firm. One of our jobs (very lucrative, because it involved no design work) was filling metal boxes brought in by Liebherr, to use as counter-weights for tower cranes.

This has to be one of the most pointless threads ever. Who cares where cranes, diggers etc are!

You wouldn't like Diggerland but I believe you are missing out on the joy of diggers and cranes!

True, but light relief compared to the threads of the past few months worrying about the club folding.

I can think of better ways of getting light relief. This is supposed to be a Saints forum. I am sure there are other forums to discuss cranes etc :smt022

My girlfriend pointed out the Liebherr diggers outside Mannheim station this morning ripping up the tram tracks. I'm so proud she pays attention to my mutterings about saints.

Is this a competition to see who can post the most boring, pointless piece of information imaginable?

I admit it - I was bored this morning and it is pointless. And yes, I know they are not really his machines. But it made me happy seeing it.

True he resigned from the Leibherr board to focus on Mali, but he is still in effect part owner of the Liebherr group so you could sy they are still partly his machines - dont you just love a good crane thread?

F*&k Eddie Stobbart, lets start a Liebherr spotters club.

I work in the mining industry in Western Australia. Liebherr are a massive player in the large Iron ore open pit operations .With their range of Giant Haul Packs ( $4.0 million + each ) Shovels ( No... not the ones you hold in your hand ! loaders , mobile cranes etc etc

I wonder how they will all fit on the the 1st team shirts when Flybe get the flick !

Ah, yes the eponomous M3 junction 3 Drainage works.

I have two excavators, a couple of cranes I have used and I am hoping on doing the Mini Digger or two on the central reserve in my bit of the M3.

For the un-educated:- 'MALI', - acronym for MArkus LIebherr.
