Junction 9 Posted 16 July, 2009 Share Posted 16 July, 2009 I have friends in Napier, not sure if it reached there. When I visited them a few years ago we had a quake in the middle of the night, strange experience.
St Landrew Posted 21 July, 2009 Share Posted 21 July, 2009 Just read about this. Also looked at your http://msn.nzherald.co.nz/nz/news/article.cfm?c_id=1&objectid=10584830&ref=rss link. It made me laugh to read that Tash from Invercargill said it was the most exciting thing to happen in the city in quite a while. Having lived near and needing to visit Invercargill for many a time during job prospecting days in NZ, I can quite believe that.

St Landrew Posted 22 July, 2009 Share Posted 22 July, 2009 Hey, S-i-P, I understand that the quake brought the South Island 12 inches closer to Australia. So there was no upside in that event then.

St Landrew Posted 22 July, 2009 Share Posted 22 July, 2009 Lots or links to articles on below webpage thing http://nz.news.yahoo.com/search/?p=earthquake Actually we are thinking of sending money to our UK Bank account as the exchange rate is in our favour at the moment. To get 10 Pounds it only costs us 26 NZ Dollars We made something like £1500 by doing that. First we changed our money into $NZ then 15 months or so later changed the whole lot back to £GB. The result was our first high powered PC [for those days] and internet connection by 1994-5. As I remember we got 39 dollars for our 10 pounds, then coming back it only took 21 dollars to get 10 pounds. Result. Good old Tory govt boom and busting the economy again. Just for our benefit too.
