Can I recommend that any small firms out there, consider sponsoring a player? £700 gets you his signed shirt, two tickets to the end of season Players Award Dinner, logo on the big screen, etc. etc.... It was a grand last season and I think, even in a recession, it's worth considering.

Email Danielle at dlewis@saintsfc.co.uk and she'll sort something out, I'm sure.

Interestingly, this morning I received a letter informing us that we can sponsor Marek Saganowski again this season and the club have heard nothing about him going anywhere.

If we can keep him and Rasiak up front for the season, I think we'll do alright...

Interesting. But what happens if you sponsor a player and he then leaves? Do you get your cash back (I'm guessing not!) or do you get to have another one in his place or none of the above?

You get first choice on another player not yet sponsored, or a new player.

My back up choice is young Pulis...

Why would Pulis bring callers beckoning? He has just finished a year out injured and by all accounts was not at the races in his appearance last week. I, personally hope that he can do well for us this season.

Could we "the saints web forum" sponsor a player between us say someone like Lloyd James or Davis.

Good Idea....then have a prize draw for the dinner tickets and the signed shirt...

Did she sound genuine or just a sales person saying what she thinks you want to hear trying to get you to renew?

Interesting if it's the former... Rasiak and Saga would be a formidable L1 front line. :p

A pretty apathetic front line as well

Is there any player that more than 10% of TSW actually rate?

That's enough. 10% of over 8,000 registered users donate a quid via paypal, list the available players and then run a poll...

Just a sales person?!?!? Danielle Lewis is the club's Sponsorship Executive, FFS...

As maybe however, from your post it was implied that you had been speaking to her with regard to sponsering a player. She was trying to sell something to you and so was acting as a sales person...

Any chance of an answer to the original question?

Excellent idea lets get this going, need not be a £1 give what you want min of £1, run the poll until the 1st August, presuming that will be sufficient time and take it from there.

If Rasiak can be a r sed (and it sounds as though he was in the ast friendly) he could top score this league.

Well he certainly didn't look as though he was at Bournemouth, but that's the only friendly I've managed to get to so far.

If we give him a new deal, I think Stern John will be a better bet for top scorer.

The question was "Did she sound genuine?"

The answer was given by the fact that I posted what she said. I must admit, I do have the reputation for being taken in by bullsh !t, so I can understand your concerns...

I presume Pulis' sponsorship doesn't come wiith any strings attached, like , say, extra money for appearacnces???

Good idea, and then we can send 19c and Mole along together for the end of season shindig.:smt021

Apparently not. The main reason he is my back up, is I expect to do very well on EBay, with his signed shirt, thank you very much...

I didn't go but read some reports of the last game saying that he looked as though he was back to his old self. Awesome if true.

Obviously he could have just been trying to impress a watching scout...

We'll see against Ajax I guess.

Given the games and motivation I think Rasiak, Saga and John all have the ability to do very very well in L1

Great, they could do the cabaret - three rounds of hand to handbag combat with a goose stepping theme.

As in it will be worth something, as it will be the only shirt ever allocated to him!!!!!

With all the multiple identities he could have a table of his own (and still manage to antagonise his alter ego's)!!!!!!

That's pretty good value, my previous firm did Matchball Sponsorship v Bristol C a couple of years back, cost us about £1500 then which we thought was good value, considering you got a table of 10 in the Channon, ad in the programme and big screen ads..

This is a great idea. See what can be raised between now and August. Run a poll in tandem. We could possibly sponsor more than one player. Signed shirts and end of season dinner tickets could be auctioned for Saints in the Community.

Good idea, but think the quid is optimistic.

Perhaps a system a bit like the forum match where we sign up and then send the money when we know how many we have. Pal Pal from here would cost me more than a quid anyway so if it doubled in price would still be a bargain

And think how many hours of fun we will have fighting over who to sponsor - lol!

I dont think it matters too much

by the time the mnoney is raised then the player we want mught have been taken alraedy...maybe..raise the money, get the available players and have a poll that would last, say, 5 days..?

I would be interested - should a sepatae thread be started for this - if someone bid £10 would they get 10 prize draws?

About which of the two are you referring? ;)

Agree but would rather see John\Rasiak up front.

It probably won't happen but if we could keep all 3 then the forward line is looking v.good.

Just need a battling CH and 1\2 combative midfielders and I think we've got a decent looking team.

Better open up the Itchen Concourse as well and put tables down there ;)(I'm going to get killed for this LOL)

Given that the amount required is variable depending on the player(s) chosen, how about:

1. Contributions are variable, ranging from £1 to a maximum of, say, £50. For every £1 contributed, you get one entry into the draw for the seats at the end of season dinner and the signed shirt.

2. A deadline is set for contributions, after which we then ascertain which players are a) available, and b) affordable within the money received. A poll can then be run for a few days to choose the player(s) sponsored.

Thoughts?

I will be up for that..

NB

I would not be interested in going to the end of season dinner for two reasons

a. not my thing

b. cannot guarantee i could be around.

I guess i could put myself forward to the draw and donate the winnings to someone else..but the crux of it..I am in
