lee_saint Posted 15 July, 2009 Posted 15 July, 2009 Thought he lived down Hook?? It's Warsash fella, he bought Akabusi's old gaff......Awooga.
RedAndWhite91 Posted 15 July, 2009 Posted 15 July, 2009 I thought Strachen's house was one of those big ones near Moodys dock yard? And I always thought it was in Hamble!
Guest Dark Sotonic Mills Posted 15 July, 2009 Posted 15 July, 2009 Thornton or Crofton Way, I can't remember. My Gran lives over the road from him... Surely you know where your Gran lives?
lee_saint Posted 15 July, 2009 Posted 15 July, 2009 Surely you know where your Gran lives? Haven't been to see the poor lass in a while, just had to have a look, it's Crofton Way! Haha, the road splits....he's still living there anyway.
Doctoroncall Posted 15 July, 2009 Posted 15 July, 2009 I'm sorry Pilchards but I'm really struggling to decipher this. Are you saying that the rumours indicate Strachan, or wise , or that you've heard both rumours? Subsequent posters on this thread seem to be interpreting either way depending on how they want to read it! My view for what it's worth, is: Strachan ...wonderful! Wise ...bloody hell. You must be joking - old school, poor man's Redknapp, and not very bright. The 2 together .. can't see Strachan agreeing to that personally. K. I struggled too! I don't mind Strachan but not my preferred choice (esp after hearing about things at Celtic) but Wise is a very odd choice considering it was Poyet who was the brains behind the duo.
eelpie Posted 15 July, 2009 Posted 15 July, 2009 Dennis Wise would be a tough guy manager who would knock the sleepy dust out of the eyes of our wimps who relegated us. That would be a start. DOF for Strachan would be a good job for him. It would not be a backward step and he would being charisma to the club and the long term planning which we need, which would suit both us and him.
Jackie@home Posted 15 July, 2009 Posted 15 July, 2009 I don't want Wise anywhere near our club - he's a disaster. He relegated Leeds and helped Newcastle on their way with some truly appalling signings - players who were nowhere near good enough for the Premiership. He certainly can't pick a player. He's also incredibly dislikable as a person at a time when we are wanting the club, staff and supporters to unite. I also can't imagine WGS either working with a DOF or being one himself.
dellboypete Posted 15 July, 2009 Posted 15 July, 2009 Wishful thinking. Sounds similar to the dream I had last night after the one about me and Lucy Pinder. Nice if it happens, but for the time being it's just a dream. Problem is Eric, it's 40+ degrees. 80% humidity - so every dream is a wet dream
Romsaint Posted 15 July, 2009 Posted 15 July, 2009 Follow this link Wise is 33/1 http://www.skybet.com/skybet?action=GoEvType&id=10002896
Tokyo-Saint Posted 15 July, 2009 Posted 15 July, 2009 Would be more than happy with wgs but don't really believe rumours on here. Still waiting on us being taken over by Red Bull, which we were all so sure about. I think the sad fact is none of us really knows anything. The Swiss were around for ages and the closest anyone got to a name was a woman with nice legs in a white suit.
St Luke Saint Posted 15 July, 2009 Posted 15 July, 2009 Been to William hills and coral and no bugger will take my bet as we are out the premiership, I wished I paid more attention to the bookies the bloke did for Wisey, as I don't have his number either. :-( Try Skybet - here are their latest odds: Adams T 7/5 Tisdale, P 5/2 Strachan, G 5/1 Coppell S 6/1 Ferguson D 6/1 Shearer, A 8/1 Dowie, I 16/1 Boothroyd, A 16/1 Pardew, A. 25/1 Le Tissier, M 25/1 Keegan, K 33/1 Wise, D 33/1 Gross, C. 33/1 Adams, M 40/1 Souness, G 66/1 Hoddle, G 66/1 Bond, K 66/1 Redknapp, H 80/1 Wright, M 100/1
ART Posted 15 July, 2009 Posted 15 July, 2009 Firstly I posted 3 weeks ago that newspapers north of the border had posted that Strachan was returning from his holidays in Malaga on the Friday of that week. He's been sighted around since then. He's also said he wants to end his career working with youngsters and our Academy would present a truly great job for him especially with all the necessary funds available. I'd be delighted for Dennis Wise to take over as manager as he's just the type of no nonsense manager who hates the media and gives 110% we really need. I'd prefer having Gus Poyet in with him as the two together were unstopable at Leeds. And Newcastle fans have been posting that Wise should not have been kicked out and actually did a pretty good job. It was all prejudice like at Leeds because he was a ****ney.
Glasgow_Saint Posted 15 July, 2009 Posted 15 July, 2009 Tony Adams would be a dreadful choice, fans wouldnt support him and his appointment would quickly burst this optomistic bubble we are all riding.
Webby Posted 15 July, 2009 Posted 15 July, 2009 Happy Birthday Thorpie! 40 eh? How'd ya feel? FWIW, I wouldn't be surprised if Strachan took the job. By all accounts he loved it down here when he was here before. He still has a house down here too. He often chooses to not choose the obvious path if you see what I mean. Despite managing Celtic, I don't see him as a big club manager yet. Yes, he can manage in the prem league, but I can't see one of the big four knocking on his door. Celtic fit in to Championship level for me. I think what Gordon likes is a challenge, and that's what he'll get here. He'll have the financial backing without the pressure of the very top level. I'll be chuffed if he signs. We'll have a manager with charisma again! And fit players.

SaintRichmond Posted 15 July, 2009 Posted 15 July, 2009 Shearer is availible - Joe Kinnear is the Newcastle manager again. So what ..... I personally do not want Shearer as Manager ...... he has only had WEEKS as regards experience ....... and his heart is, and always will be, with NUFC Whoever we get ha GOT to have loads of Managerial experience IMHO ..... the season ahead is going to very very difficult

I don't get it, if I was sat at the top of the tree and recieved his C.V it would be straight in the bin. The bloke relegated a Wycombe team who were favourites to be promoted that season, his tactics at Portsmouth we laughable, watch the defending from corners under him, awful....I'm struggling to find a good reason why he would be linked......unless some of the skate press have been making rumours...

dubai_phil Posted 15 July, 2009 Posted 15 July, 2009 Cheers fella, I feel 37!!!! I want WGS as a birthday pressie Ouch that's freaky, you never showed signs of batting for the other side before. Why don't you just want Lucy Pinder like the rest of us? :smt044
eurosaint Posted 15 July, 2009 Posted 15 July, 2009 If Wise were to sit on Strachan's shoulders, we could have a fairly tall manager after all !!!
scotty Posted 15 July, 2009 Posted 15 July, 2009 off work today will go and sit in the car in Thornton Ave' date=' Warsash to see if WGS has any guests[/quote'] stalker alert....stalker alert...

lee_saint Posted 15 July, 2009 Posted 15 July, 2009 stalker alert....stalker alert... It's alright Scotty, he'll be sat on the wrong road.....all he'll be seeing is Paul Walsh, and I don't think that skate would want to be new manager....
Sevvy Posted 15 July, 2009 Posted 15 July, 2009 Happy birthday Thorpie, You want WGS for your birthday i wanted Kylie for my 50th bloomimg kids didnt even get me that. Have a good day mate. Steve
sambosa75 Posted 15 July, 2009 Posted 15 July, 2009 I am genuinely astounded people would be happy with Dennis Wise as manager. I would honestly rather have Steve Wigley back than Dennis Wise. He is a nasty little piece of work with no loyalty whatsoever. I would be very disappointed if he came here and cant believe people think him working in tandem with WGS would be a good move. What on earth could Wise add to the club if we already had Strachan?

sussexsaint Posted 15 July, 2009 Posted 15 July, 2009 Why do people keep putting money on TA ? it isn't going to happen - the bet is for Permenant manager at the beginning of the season - even if he is appointed I am sure the fans will lynch him and throw him off Hythe Pier long before the season actually starts

ART Posted 15 July, 2009 Posted 15 July, 2009 Happy Birthday Thorpie and many more of them. How come you and Master Bates forgot my birthday last Saturday, the 11th? I'm expecting you make both make amends. Anyone see that Neil McCann is looking to take his first job in football management having gained all his UEFA badges down during numerous long lay offs?
skintsaint Posted 15 July, 2009 Posted 15 July, 2009 Anyone see that Neil McCann is looking to take his first job in football management having gained all his UEFA badges down during numerous long lay offs? no2 to WGS?
scott_saints Posted 15 July, 2009 Posted 15 July, 2009 no2 to WGS? WGS would still select him for the starting line up!
greg_hill Posted 15 July, 2009 Posted 15 July, 2009 According to well-informed Pat over on the UI; Strachan will be announced as manager, either tomorrow or Thursday. He will have a 5 year deal with hefty bonuses for each and every promotion. Targets have already been agreed and money made available with a huge budget. ???????????? *Edit: don't shoot the messenger! Sounds too good to be true but then I thought that about the Swiss!
saintstr1 Posted 15 July, 2009 Posted 15 July, 2009 I have just received some information all be it third hand from a friend in Aberdeen who has contacts with players at Aberdeen FC. I am told that WGS is to be our new manager on a 5 year contract IF he gets the funding for players he wants from Markus. Apperently WGS wants a largish budget now to build a team capable of getting to the play offs this season and then already able to be a force in the CCC without more major spending once in the CCC. I am not a ITK and have never posted a ITK rumour before , just passing on information received in a phone call which was originally nothing to do with football so please dont shoot the messanger.
iansums Posted 15 July, 2009 Posted 15 July, 2009 I'm sure I saw Andy Oldknow in a restaurant in Salisbury last night, perhaps I should have asked him.

greg_hill Posted 15 July, 2009 Posted 15 July, 2009 Why would Aberdeen players know what Saints are planning? Does seem bizarre doesn't it? The only connection I can think of is that they are all Scottish!

Our Claus Posted 15 July, 2009 Posted 15 July, 2009 Why would Aberdeen players know what Saints are planning? Does seem bizarre doesn't it? The only connection I can think of is that they are all Scottish! From Mark McGhee maybe? He's fairly good friends with Strachan isn't he?

saintstr1 Posted 15 July, 2009 Posted 15 July, 2009 Why would Aberdeen players know what Saints are planning? Probably because the Aberdeen manager is Mark McGhee , WGS Friend.......... Just a guess
Polaroid Saint Posted 15 July, 2009 Posted 15 July, 2009 Liking all these rumours about WGS, I can be swayed by them and happy untill Adams is announced and then I could be disapointed and sad again. For what its worth; Dennis Wise is anything but thick - you might not like his ****ney barra boy personality or his history of rucks and 'pranks' but he is actually a very sharp chap now he has grown up. Wise and Le Saux dream time, maybe!?!? ;-)

Did he not go into the Leeds dressing room once and call them a load of w***** and said he could not care less whether they stayed up or not cos he would be there next year and they would not be. Why anyone would want that sort of mentality I really do not know.
Victor Posted 15 July, 2009 Posted 15 July, 2009 He's also said he wants to end his career working with youngsters and our Academy would present a truly great job for him especially with all the necessary funds available. I suggest he has a word with another of our previous managers to see if he thinks this is a good idea. If the big money is on Wise, this is betting as manager, not DofF. Actually, I can't see either working with the other as DofF, they are both too much their own man. Happy to see either as manager, however. Last observation - if McGee is gossiping with his players he may not be WGS's friend much longer. Can't imagine Gordon's been talking to him anyway if he is coming to SMS - would be too busy (unless he's after one of his players, of course).
dubai_phil Posted 15 July, 2009 Posted 15 July, 2009 I'd take her (in every sense of the word) ahead of Adams any day of the week if I'm honnest. FFS that now makes it you and Thorpie who are the only ones on here that HAVEN'T??
Third Division South Days Posted 15 July, 2009 Posted 15 July, 2009 McGee has extensive experience at this level of football as well as being a good friend.
saintjay77 Posted 15 July, 2009 Posted 15 July, 2009 Agreed. Did he not go into the Leeds dressing room once and call them a load of w***** and said he could not care less whether they stayed up or not cos he would be there next year and they would not be. Why anyone would want that sort of mentality I really do not know. So he said that to a bunch of under performing players that didnt deserve to wear the shirt they were given and then the following year he went on to do quite well with players that knew they had to perform? Sounds like he has something that our team has been missing in recent seasons. I still prefer WGS as he will get them fit, not take shiite from players or press, knows how to build a winning team and doesnt like conceding slopy goals. Has gained a fair bit of experience of lower grade football since he left us last time so should do well in league 1 right back up to the prem and even has Champions league experience should we wish to dream that high. If we can get him long term I think he would be amazing for our future.
