Channon's Sideburns Posted 14 July, 2009 Posted 14 July, 2009 Chris Nicholl and Nick Holmes? Both have strong links, and understand the club - CN managed well in the lower leagues after Saints (plus the NI job)...Nick Holmes has the knowledge of the non-league scene to be able to spot some bargains... CN was also now under-rated by us I feel (myself included) - his record actually was very good when compared to those that followed... CN as Manager with NH as Assistant? Would do for me...

Now take your rose tinted glasses off.
Matthew Le God Posted 14 July, 2009 Posted 14 July, 2009 Nicholl has been out of professional football since 2000(assistant manager with N.Ireland) and hasn't managed a club since 1997(Walsall). As great as he was for us in the late 80's he is likely to be abit out of touch with the modern game. Mr Liebherr is unlikely to take this route and will go for someone more in tune with the modern game.
Channon's Sideburns Posted 14 July, 2009 Author Posted 14 July, 2009 Nicholl has been out of professional football since 2000(assistant manager with N.Ireland) and hasn't managed a club since 1997(Walsall). I did say it was out of 'leftfield'.... Tony Adams managed in the Prem last season, but that doesn't make him acceptable tho...just playing Devil's Advocate for a minute...
Matthew Le God Posted 14 July, 2009 Posted 14 July, 2009 Well as Nicholl is 62 years old and has not been in football for 10 years and shown no interest in doing so I imagine he has taken retirement.
Dicko Posted 14 July, 2009 Posted 14 July, 2009 Does Nicholl still live down here? His daughter does - I worked with someone who knew her
Glasgow_Saint Posted 14 July, 2009 Posted 14 July, 2009 A Ron Atkinson and Terry Venables dream team would be better
Thedelldays Posted 14 July, 2009 Posted 14 July, 2009 yes..i see we have a billionaire owner who wants to get back to the prem in somehwta if a sensibel fashion but still wants back in the prem lets hire nick holmes.. oh dear
Gordon Mockles Posted 14 July, 2009 Posted 14 July, 2009 Does Nicholl still live down here? His daughter does - I worked with someone who knew her I used to work with her. Cathy. Nice girl but a bit dirty, big hooters!
Verbal Posted 14 July, 2009 Posted 14 July, 2009 A Ron Atkinson and Terry Venables dream team would be better Agreed. They're like a couple of Siamese twins joined at the comb-over. They could even share the same sunbed.
kpturner Posted 14 July, 2009 Posted 14 July, 2009 Where are Leftfield these days anyway? Still making bloody good music I hope - but I am pretty sure they wouldn't make a very good football management team. Far too risky for us. I hope the new owners ignore this suggestion.
Dicko Posted 14 July, 2009 Posted 14 July, 2009 I used to work with her. Cathy. Nice girl but a bit dirty, big hooters! Are you suggesting Cathy Nicholl is a Mr Mockles conquest?
Toadhall Saint Posted 14 July, 2009 Posted 14 July, 2009 Think they've split up KPT - there first album is up there in my all time top five.
kpturner Posted 14 July, 2009 Posted 14 July, 2009 Think they've split up KPT - their first album is up there in my all time top five.(Corrected that for you ;-) )....but split up?? What a bummer - so maybe they have taken up the football management game. The OP could be on to something do you think?

Thanks for the typo (are you a proof reader). as for the OP - could be, at least the half time entertainment would give the PA system at SMS a good run out!
kpturner Posted 14 July, 2009 Posted 14 July, 2009 are you a proof reader? No - a pedantic ***t :-) I think the team should run out to Afrika Shox at maximum volume.....COYR!!!
kpturner Posted 14 July, 2009 Posted 14 July, 2009 Ian Dury - Plaistow Patricia Was he in Leftfield then?
derry Posted 14 July, 2009 Posted 14 July, 2009 Nicholl has been out of professional football since 2000(assistant manager with N.Ireland) and hasn't managed a club since 1997(Walsall). As great as he was for us in the late 80's he is likely to be abit out of touch with the modern game. Mr Liebherr is unlikely to take this route and will go for someone more in tune with the modern game. He has been working as an analyser at league matches for Opta statistics.
Matthew Le God Posted 14 July, 2009 Posted 14 July, 2009 He has been working as an analyser at league matches for Opta statistics. Not involved in management on a day to day basis then for the last 12 years. At 62 years old its asking alot for him to come back into the game after being out for so long.
SFC Forever Posted 14 July, 2009 Posted 14 July, 2009 First thing is how much the new owner wants to spend on the club right away. Will he be prepared to buy someone from a contract or will he pick someone from the unemployed section. Steve Coppell could be more interested now that his coach has left Reading as well. Curbishley and Pardew are getting mentioned a bit now and I would prefer Pards. Paul Stimpson is one I think could do a good job as is Scunny's manager. Tisdale we have all seen spoken about and I would expect to receive a warm welcome if chosen but it seems most unlikely. I don't know why but I have a hunch we could end up with a name that is well known and well respected.
70's Mike Posted 14 July, 2009 Posted 14 July, 2009 Steve Coppell and Alan Knill left field Ron Atkinson and Hope Powell
