70's Mike Posted 13 July, 2009 Share Posted 13 July, 2009 We are super Southampton the Pride of the South....... We should aim for promotion to Championship within 2 seasons. we should AIM for it this season, we may not achieve it BUT you must go out to win every game

St Landrew Posted 13 July, 2009 Share Posted 13 July, 2009 To true...... We must be realistic, and not expect to "Buy our way out" of Div 1. It takes a lot of time and hard work to get to the Premiership....we will get there BUT we MUST remain united, supportive and must not expect miracles overnight. COYR ! Absolutely..! I'll take the miracles to the Prem' over two seasons.
Papa Shango Posted 13 July, 2009 Share Posted 13 July, 2009 If we aren't promoted within the next two seasons there is something wrong. It's far more unrealistic to think we are going to do badly. We are by far the richest club in this league now. We have the facilities and fanbase that most League 1 clubs would kill to have. We also have quite a few players who are more than capable of being star performers at this level, and more will surely follow. I've heard people on here saying we might struggle to stay up next season. What planet are these people on? Unless we appoint Tony Adams or someone equally bad, there is no chance we will even come close to being relegated. I've spoken to Leeds and Leicester fans and they all say League 1 is a really poor league, even compared to the Championship. We'll be fine. We'll be fine. i think you'll find the people saying we'll go down again (or will struggle) are those who didn't' believe we'd ever get taken over. I think we'll be fine too - we need a few new players, but honestly, not this whole-sale squad replace that some are saying. Luton went further down because they didn't have any money and had to sell their entire squad (almost) - we'll just be adding to it from now on. exciting times! I find it hilarious that people predicting relegation and "ten years in the third tier" are calling themselves the realists. It's la-la land. None of these people would have predicted the same kind of thing for Leicester, Forest, Leeds (not up yet but two play off finishes), Sheff Weds, QPR and Man City. "They'll bounce back". Why can't we? It's just own-club super pessimism and it's rather silly.
