DD...........Like NC, you could pick a fight in an empty room. I didn't read TL's comments as that he had a personal issue with WGS. I read it that WGS had personal issues.......

Why are you making such a stink over this....we accept that you don't like TL.....let it go man.......it could affect your position on board whilst stood near the red button!!!!!!!!!!!

have let it go

what i dont like is when people say I have a "problem" with someone and that I want to be different for no reason..(despite when being different at that time was right)

I was no way NOT EVEN CLOSE the worstto question TL...Fitzhugh was far far worse...yet, do you question him..?

did not think so

And everything TL says will happen happens, right?

Not at all, but I would imagine he or MLT has spoken to WGS recently. I would hope that Gordon has been persuaded by the new owners but as yet I can't see it and I think we are setting ourselves up for big disappointment.

I dont think Strachan is the manager to take us from the Bottom of League 1 to the Premiership.

If however he had replaced Redknapp when we were in the Championship that is different

Not we........some!!!.

Least we forget...'some' should remember where we find ourselves....we are Div 1.............as I've said, anyone will get my support, but I'd like NP to come back.

I think he is exactly what we need in terms of getting the players fit and adding some desire. Even duncan is starting to believe it is him and he doesnt want wgs so I'm hoping...

You and many others appear to be obsessed with the fact that the team are not fit but where is the proof you maybe right but I dont know .

Murty said the team was fit and skilful and when they came in a week early everybody was as fit as they should be.

Of course the team should be fit but I would rather have a team of skilfull players any day

to be honest..i dont think you need high levels of skill to get out of league 1..

high motivation and high tempo with decent players and a manager who knows what he is doing is plenty enough

there are some proper god awful teams in league 1 who play some of the worst football we will see

I agree but surely someone like Saga assuming he was trying would be pretty good in Div 1

With the Premiership full of foreign players the better English ones are now in the lower leagues I would have thought and the standard of football maybe improving

of course...generally teams who go up have the top goal scorers..

IF sagga could be bothered he would be awesome in league 1..

I think, we are 4-5 players short of having a real go at the playoffs..i really doand of course, a manager that can life everyone too..WGS :D

We had a team full of skillful players last year but they were nowhere near as fit as they should have been and were run ragged by the opposition. The reason we kept (and continue) conceding late late goals is because the players switch off and that is down to a lack of physical and mental fitness. Hardly surprising last season when JP thought he could build up the players stamina by just kicking the ball around the training ground.

Yes I agree with you but also a bit of luck would help I would have thought.

Whether WGS or not, and personally I hope but don't think so, a new manager needs to have motivational skills as well as technical ones and knowledge of how to get out of League 1. That is not just shouting and screaming at them.

We have now played four friendlies against lower and non-league opposition. We have sent out people for a run-out, to have a look at fringe players, to improve fitness etc. etc. The result is a rather appalling three draws and one loss, following which the team is told that it doesn't matter. What coaches seems to be oblivious of is that they are fostering a loosing habit.

Conditioning belongs on the training ground. Fringe players can appear in reserve team friendlies. But our first team friendlies are there to be won and to foster the winning habit.

This is a terrible shortcoming that has been going on for many years and if we want to advance it must stop. I fear that we haven't prepared the minds as well as we could have.

If you thought our players were as fit as they should have been then you clearly didn't watch us play forest at home

That really was a disgrace. I've seen some half-hearted performances in the past but I lost all respect for that squad bar Kelvin and one or two others after the game. To see players pulling out of 75/25 tackles that even Eyal Berkovic could have won infuriated me and relegation and administration were certainties - that lot couldn't have fought their way out of a paper bag. It was almost as if some of that squad were not bothered whether they got tonked. Under Wotte the effort did seem to increase a bit - hence the 3 wins in a row - but the fitness wasn't there.

Perhaps wee Gordie knows of what he speaks, since several reports on this board have claimed sightings of Tisdale at a Lyndhurst hotel.

But rumours of the wee one still persist, so maybe WGS is being lined up in a DoF role to mentor Tisdale?

This would make no lie of the alleged above comments and would enable Strachan a bit more free time with his family, if he so wishes. In that regard he's better off having a role with us, if he's living locally, than becoming involved with a club in some other part of the country...

I do know of someone who has contacted the family in regards to a forthcoming planned event, something I doubt he would still take on if considering to be manager. That was still given the thumbs up so I am not so sure about these very strong links. But again I am not sure you can put that down as definitive.

If not WGS, the Wise has a lot going for him when you look at the experience, record and get past the emotions.

I really hope we do get WGS back because his fitness based wide play will be a breath of fresh air after the narrow junk we had to put up with last year.

If not Strachan then who ????

If you take out the definete No thank you suggestions like Tony Adams.

What we need is an experienced manager who knows how to get a team promoted out of Div 1 and the CCC.

That leaves ?

Coppell

Ince ?

Dowie

Reid

Any others . None that I can think of.

Heard it at my daughters Sports day.....so a very reliable source - Nicky Holmes as Coach with WGS as DOF.

I think I quite like the sound of that combination. If NH is going to make the jump to the league then that arrangement could work rather well.

Would be a terrible idea. As soon as we hit a run of bad results people would be demanding Strachan take charge. Dof's normally end up taking over the manager job, especially if they are the bigger name.

Last year it was p;ss poor tactics, a massive lack of: pace, byeline crosses, poor dead ball execution, penalty taker and a consistent pair of goalscorers.

Even if they had been superfit the way they played would have done for them.

Lets hope the new man brings in some pace and plays 4-4-2 down the touchlines.

heard a "rumour" mentioning paul jewell!

anyone else heard this one?

There was some talk of this a few days ago, would be happy with this but would not be my first choice. like Pardew in that respect

To be honest i'd be happy with Aidy Boothroyd, Paul Jewell, Alan Pardew, Paul Tisdale, Nigel Pearson, Steve Coppell, Gordon Strachan, Alan Curbishley.

They are all managers above us in terms of league position so we should feel lucky if we get any of them. I'd be well chuffed!

a management team that size would never work

Can we treat this poll like bidding for the olympics only bidding for our next manager, ie the person with the fewest votes is removed and another vote is carried out with the remaining 5 then the process continues until we are left with one person who will then become our new manager.

Bit confused, why are we thinking its Pardew just cos he got punted on skybet? Don't believe it myself, he's out of work and could have been appointed much sooner!

Possibly due to negotiating re the compo when sacked last year?

But then again I would expect his salary expectation would not have been at the same level that a Div 3 club (-10) would be offering.
