saint1977 Posted 13 July, 2009 Share Posted 13 July, 2009 Can we add Paul Jewell??? I think this is a good shout. In the Prem with Wigan not long ago but took them up from this level and has also got Bradford promoted. Would not be surprised if he was on the shortlist. Coppell would certainly feature and would be excellent but not sure if he'd want it and probably doesn't need the money. I think Boothroyd would have applied, as would Cotterill but my favourite would be Gus Poyet and I think he would be very keen on the role. saint1977 Posted 13 July, 2009 Share Posted 13 July, 2009 Wouldn`t argue with this. Ferguson would be great and a next step if we were in the CCC but he could have spoken to WBA but didn't because he is very loyal to Peterborough's owner who has backed him well. Don't think he'll leave for another season or so and might get a PL role if he does as well this season as Martinez did for Swansea last season. SaintRichmond Posted 13 July, 2009 Share Posted 13 July, 2009 I don't think Strachan will go from Celtic to league 1 but if he wants the Saints job it's his to turn down would be my view. Other than him I would give the managers job to Aidy Boothroyd with Keegan as Director of Football and Le Tiss as Chairman. Then we'd have the passion back in the club and one of the best coaches who I believe could end up as good as Moyes at Everton. Apparently, they are holding INTERVIEWS for Saints manager's spot !!!! Can anyone REALLY imagine Strachan submitting to an interview for a DIVISION ONE CLUB ??????????? ........ Forget it I think Leibherr's Co have ****ed up BIG TIME ......... They SACKED the Manager we had .... without being SURE that Their choice wanted to come here The Tony Adams rumour will not go away ....... so guess what (IMHO)

But would that be fair to Wotte he was a real pro, if they had conducted interviews for new managers behind wottes back and left wotte with no club with no time to find a new club in the summer. Think it was one of those no win situations, the main thing now is to find the right man for the job, in a sence not to rush in but get him in quick! hugh Posted 13 July, 2009 Share Posted 13 July, 2009 I am baffled why people think Strachan will return. There is just no way he would want to return to a club two divisions lower than when he left it. For that matter one or two need to realise that we are a third tier club, and at the moment, not a very good one. Our saving grace is that we have no debt and a wealthy owner. That is not to say that he will throw money at the club. Why should he? Pearson might just be what we are looking for, but for the life of me I cannot see why he would want to step down either. Coppell would have been good and might be good again, but he looked as it he was on the brink of a nervous break down towards the end of last season. I would be delighted if he were to be DOF though. Hoddle is a spent force. End of. Keegan would be good, but I don't think he would be a good fit with our new owners cautious Swiss outlook. So the ONLY realistic choice from the list is Tisdale. Good though I think he is, there must be other choices out there and don't say that dead loss Tony Adams either!
