Guest Dark Sotonic Mills Posted 12 July, 2009 Posted 12 July, 2009 Please vote again. I have culled the unpopular choices and added Pearson.
Spades Posted 12 July, 2009 Posted 12 July, 2009 strachan is clear winner atm with 100% edit: not anymore
Bailey Posted 12 July, 2009 Posted 12 July, 2009 Strachan is still my first choice, although I don't believe it will happen for a second. Just too good to be true.
Guest Dark Sotonic Mills Posted 12 July, 2009 Posted 12 July, 2009 no poll... The thread is visible whilst the poll table is being compiled.
PaulSaint Posted 12 July, 2009 Posted 12 July, 2009 Voted Keegan as I dont think returning managers ever work, he also has promotion experience from City & Fulham & he can work with billionaire owners. Oh he also played for us, can attract big names & lives down here - He's perfect IMHO!
Thedelldays Posted 12 July, 2009 Posted 12 July, 2009 :smt039 clear to all that what you know about football you could write on the back of a stamp with crayons
hypochondriac Posted 12 July, 2009 Posted 12 July, 2009 I would be happy for any of them except tisdale and glen
Mole Posted 12 July, 2009 Posted 12 July, 2009 The thread is visible whilst the poll table is being compiled. Are you sure about that?
Mole Posted 12 July, 2009 Posted 12 July, 2009 clear to all that what you know about football you could write on the back of a stamp with crayons I remember how Strachans last stint with us was going belly up just before he left. The magic had gone. It was looking like Coventry all over again.
Katalinic Posted 12 July, 2009 Posted 12 July, 2009 clear to all that what you know about football you could write on the back of a stamp with crayons Well its all about opinions....didn't you say a couple of days ago that Peter Taylor would be a good option? Best see if you can borrow the crayons....
Thedelldays Posted 12 July, 2009 Posted 12 July, 2009 I remember how Strachans last stint with us was going belly up just before he left. The magic had gone. It was looking like Coventry all over again. lol:rolleyes:
PercyR Posted 12 July, 2009 Posted 12 July, 2009 Strachan is still my first choice, although I don't believe it will happen for a second. Just too good to be true. why not?...
Thedelldays Posted 12 July, 2009 Posted 12 July, 2009 Great response. he took us to 4th in the table....it then came out that he was going to leave and it understandably went stale...but before it came out he was leaving there was talk of possible (laughable now i know) champions league chance
Mole Posted 12 July, 2009 Posted 12 July, 2009 he took us to 4th in the table....it then came out that he was going to leave and it understandably went stale...but before it came out he was leaving there was talk of possible (laughable now i know) champions league chance Nah, it went stale after Chris Marden left. Strachan got out just in the nick of time. He saw the writing on the wall after his Coventry experience.
Thedelldays Posted 12 July, 2009 Posted 12 July, 2009 Nah, it went stale after Chris Marden left. Strachan got out just in the nick of time. He saw the writing on the wall after his Coventry experience. so he never pushed us up to 4th in the table just before letting the cat out of the bag he wanted to leave..?
saintbletch Posted 12 July, 2009 Posted 12 July, 2009 You should have added Adams to show the depth of support he would enjoy (or not).
Bailey Posted 12 July, 2009 Posted 12 July, 2009 why not?... I just can't see Strachan wanting to come back to Saints. Don't get me wrong, I hope he does and I'd be over the moon if it happened, but realistically, can you see him going from Champions League football with Celtic to -10 in League One with Saints?
oxfordshire_saint Posted 12 July, 2009 Posted 12 July, 2009 I've heard some whisperings of Dan Petrescu being in the frame. By all accounts, he seems to be doing pretty well back in his homeland: http://english.hotnews.ro/stiri-top_news-5815687-dan-petrescus-unirea-urziceni-wins-romanian-championship.htm
Block 5 Posted 12 July, 2009 Posted 12 July, 2009 Pearson with more votes than Coppell or Keegan? WTF?
Mole Posted 12 July, 2009 Posted 12 July, 2009 so he never pushed us up to 4th in the table just before letting the cat out of the bag he wanted to leave..? I can't remember. I don't think so. I think we were more mid table and sliding.
Forester Posted 12 July, 2009 Posted 12 July, 2009 Pearson with more votes than Coppell or Keegan? WTF? Pearson has just led Leicester to win the title of the division we are now playing in
4737_carlin Posted 12 July, 2009 Posted 12 July, 2009 Where is Curbishley and why have you got judas hoddle on it ?
Joesaint Posted 12 July, 2009 Posted 12 July, 2009 Strachan was not given great support at all and got the team available playing really well, with the right support Strachan would be best by a long way for me. Didnt know Dan Petrescu went into coaching, that could be interesting.
Papa Shango Posted 12 July, 2009 Posted 12 July, 2009 My order of preference from those in the poll 1. Strachan 2. Keegan 3. Coppell 4. Pearson 5. Tisdale 6. Hoddle

By all accounts, he seems to be doing pretty well back in his homeland: http://english.hotnews.ro/stiri-top_news-5815687-dan-petrescus-unirea-urziceni-wins-romanian-championship.htm I mentioned him the other day in another thread. Would be an excellent choice I reckon.
ottery st mary Posted 12 July, 2009 Posted 12 July, 2009 Pearson is top Coach/Manager.......Will he be released from Leicester..Doubt it. Could we get Strachan, Keegan, Shearer, Coppell or O'Driscoll..I believe they would all do a good job for Saints.......I am even warming to the idea of an outsider like Howe of Bournemouth, Scott of Brentford or Knill at Bury....who has Mike on here, as a very big supporter. Knowing Saints it will be none of the above and we will have a very big pleasant surprise on Monday/Tuesday.
Running Man Posted 12 July, 2009 Posted 12 July, 2009 Where is Curbishley and why have you got judas hoddle on it ? Curbishley would seem to be quite a realistic possibility to me. I'd be surprised if he wasn't interviewed. Why isn't he in the poll?
Papa Shango Posted 12 July, 2009 Posted 12 July, 2009 Curbishley has said he only wants to manage in the Premiership.
smarmy Posted 12 July, 2009 Posted 12 July, 2009 Tony Adams pr plant! Nah, I just don't think Keegan or Hoddle are remotely realistic, Strachan was very successful here, but the football was actually quite tedious. The jokes were good, but Celtic seems to have sucked the life out of him. Just think it would be a bad move for him. Pearson would be OK, but won't come, and is overrated. Don't know much about Tisdale. Coppell is just SO BORING. I can't stand him. Same goes for Curbishley. To be honest, any of them would be fine, and if the money is there, we will "walk this league" anyway. I'd just like someone with a bit of flair or something.

WATERSIDEIFASAINT Posted 12 July, 2009 Posted 12 July, 2009 We all know the majority of fans want WGS.It probably wont happen so why not do a poll without people like Strachan,Keegan,Pearson, Hoddle & Pearson who are all unlikely imho. Why not have a poll with Boothroyd,Sanchez,Tisdale,Coppell,Poyet,Wise,Pardew and Adams.More realistic and we can then show just how unpopular Tony Adams would still be even with these candidates
miserableoldgit Posted 12 July, 2009 Posted 12 July, 2009 Please vote again. I have culled the unpopular choices and added Pearson. I did suggest this in the original thread. Is Darren Ferguson not worth a punt and inclusion in the poll?
thorpie the sinner Posted 12 July, 2009 Posted 12 July, 2009 I think its fair to say TSW wants WGS to be the new manager!!!!!!! Nicola? Andy? Markus?
St Marco Posted 12 July, 2009 Posted 12 July, 2009 I would be happy with any of them to be honest. First choice would be Strachan then Pearson. Hoddle and Tisdale i would not be as happy about but im sure both could do well for us given the right backing.
darren Posted 12 July, 2009 Posted 12 July, 2009 clear to all that what you know about football you could write on the back of a stamp with crayons
Scudamore Posted 12 July, 2009 Posted 12 July, 2009 I didn't vote Strachan on the last one as i really didn't think it vaguely likely... As time has gone by and it looks like it could happen then he is plainly the best option if possible...
Running Man Posted 12 July, 2009 Posted 12 July, 2009 Curbishley has said he only wants to manage in the Premiership. OK we obviously don't need an unwilling candidate. Can't see too many Premiership clubs going for him though.
Hopkins Posted 12 July, 2009 Posted 12 July, 2009 Want to try realistic targets? Strachan. Coppell. Pearson. Keegan. Hoddle. Never going to happen.
Papa Shango Posted 12 July, 2009 Posted 12 July, 2009 Nah, it went stale after Chris Marden left. Strachan got out just in the nick of time. He saw the writing on the wall after his Coventry experience. Marsden was poor in his last few months here. Even after Strachan announced he was leaving it wasn't all bad. Anyone remember playing Man United away, Saturday lunchtime game? One of Strachan's last games, we lost 3-2 but could have easily won on another day. We played so well.
