Poll: Would you be happy for Pearson to be our manager?

The Club was going one way when Pearson took over and the momentum needed halting before it could be turned around and some semblance introduced that allowed for us to get out of trouble. I don't disagree with you quoting 'facts' but there were circumstances involved that the likes of yourself and TDD conveniently ignore because it doesn't suit your line of thinking.

I responded to a poster who didn't post the correct facts which I did, pity you couldn't respond on his post but the reason you didn't is because it doesn't fit in with your line of thinking. FWIW I would have Pearson back and I enjoyed his 'sergeant major' approach, it reminded me of big Lawrie. I remember at S****horpe when he ordered the players over to the travelling fans which shows how much he respects us. Yes he took over at difficult times and did well to keep us up but if you are going to try and slate me please also slate the other poster who didn't give the facts.

I'd take Pearson back - I think he is a good manager.

However judged by their records at Saints alone I'd take Wotte back over Pearson. During Pearson's time with Saints he demonstrated no more than Wotte. He kept us up by the skin of our teeth with a much better better side than Wotte was relegated with - and took over in a much better position. Wotte had two hands tied behind his back by Lowe, dwindling crowds and a team full of youth players and cast offs, Pearson had most of a side that had been in the play offs the previous season. Their record on bringing in loans is about the same despite the extra constraints placed on Wotte compared to Pearson.

Pearson

P 13 W 3 D 7 L 3 = 16 points from 13 games = 1.23 points per game = 56-57 points per season (safe)

Wotte

P 18 W 4 D 7 L 7 = 19 points from 18 games = 1.06 points per game = 48-49 points per season (relegation)

The rest of your post falls to pieces after these facts.

Noooooo! Christ, wishing Pearson back is like winning the lottery and buying a Kia because it was the car you were struggling to afford before you bought your ticket.

If we were in the Premiership I'd agree, but we're in L1 on -10 points.

Personally I would love him to come back and finish what he started..

Agree. Except the club he would be coming back to would not be the one he left (sorry-was kicked out of). Just a shadow of its former self, when he was here (and we were on our uppers then).

He would be a brave man to return, but if anyone can pick up the pieces he can.

(It is extraordinary how much of our beloved club has been destroyed.)

Pearson was a nice guy who said the right things and brought hope, but his results were very questionable. In points per game he was no better than Poortvliet in spite of the fact that he had a squad of experienced players, whilst P only had boys from the academy. Wotte did better than both in spite of the boys now being shell shocked and the club going into Administration and slammed with -10 before the campaign was over. He didn't inspire me, but he deserves a better reputation.

I can't fathom what the enthusiasm for NP is, but I think he is a realistic prospect.

One can only assume you have nicked Red and White Army's dinlo calculator which adds or takes away points on a whim:D

Poortvliet didn't even manage a point a game, Wotte just over a point per game with Pearson bettering both of them (whether you include Plymouth away or not).

Hopefully the League will use your dinlo calculator when they do the League tables come next May and give us some of your special points you seem to have awarded the Revolutionary Coaching Set Up:smt044

Maybe we have to ask an independent expert to do the sums, since that's not how my figures worked out. In any case I think we agree that JP didn't do a good job. MW did a rather better one in very difficult circumstances. Hopefully the next manager will do better than both, and maybe enthuse us a bit on the way.

There was nothing "revolutionary" about the set-up. It was cheap, and was another one of RL's attempts to show that he was right and how clever he was to produce diamonds out of very ordinary stones. (Wigley, Gray, Sturrock, Tin Man, etc. etc.)

The only thing different with the system was 4-3-3. It's played by many top teams outside the UK, but it requires very good players. JP had a boy's brigade.

Just signed a new contract hasn't he?

yea - A 4 year one, but not sure how much contracts really mean in the current game, call me sceptical but contracts now seem more like insurance packages to make sure you get enough compensation when a player or manager leaves rather then a guarantee for your employee. I agree about DF though, seems unlikely but there has been a few peeps mention it and would be very happy if it did happen.
