swannymere Posted 12 July, 2009 Posted 12 July, 2009 Short piece in one of the red tops stating that he maybe coming back due to fall out with Milan, we can only hope it's true!
Wes Tender Posted 12 July, 2009 Posted 12 July, 2009 I'd love it. Just what we need, a manager that shouts at the players, is disciplined, will get them fit, earn their respect, knows the division and how to get out of it. Isn't that right, Nineteen Canteen?

lordswoodsaints Posted 12 July, 2009 Posted 12 July, 2009 Short piece in one of the red tops stating that he maybe coming back due to fall out with Milan, we can only hope it's true! That means he will return to leicester in a year a la redknapp
surrey1saint Posted 12 July, 2009 Posted 12 July, 2009 I'd be happy with that,if we can't have Strachan.
Gingeletiss Posted 12 July, 2009 Posted 12 July, 2009 That would be the best news since.................Ah!!!..Um!!!.........the takeover. Cripes, if that happend, Poopy failed to get their dodgey buyer, then this could be the July to end all July's............
Saint Billy Posted 12 July, 2009 Posted 12 July, 2009 http://www.people.co.uk/sport/football/tm_headline=jim-s-ready-to-fix-it-for-saints&method=full&objectid=21513425&siteid=93463-name_page.html Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink
Wes Tender Posted 12 July, 2009 Posted 12 July, 2009 Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink  Another Dutchman with no experience of the lower British leagues. No thanks.
Mole Posted 12 July, 2009 Posted 12 July, 2009 There is no man better for the job than Big Nigel Pearson. He's such a good manager and knows L1 and the players needed. Mr Liebherr it'd be money well invested.

aintforever Posted 12 July, 2009 Posted 12 July, 2009 According to the people who slated Pearson, anyone can get a team with money promoted from League 1. So surely it doesn't matter who we appoint as manager, we will get into the play-offs regardless.

Mole Posted 12 July, 2009 Posted 12 July, 2009 Not with the -10 as well. We all know what a **** Milan is to work for - this story may have legs. Pearson was loved down here and he may think he has unfinished business to attend to...
ladysaint Posted 12 July, 2009 Posted 12 July, 2009 He would be my number one choice, and would love to see it happen but doubt it will.
aintforever Posted 12 July, 2009 Posted 12 July, 2009 Not with the -10 as well. Take 10 points of Leicester last year and they still would have finished comfortably in the playoffs. So according to some on here we can hire any monkey and the playoffs will be a certainty. Or maybe Pearson is actually a good manager?
Matthew Le God Posted 12 July, 2009 Posted 12 July, 2009 Not with the -10 as well. Take 10 points off Leicester and they would come 3rd. 1 point away from 2nd and automatic promotion. Leicester didn't have a billionaire backing them either to make things easier
austsaint Posted 12 July, 2009 Posted 12 July, 2009 You'd hear me cheering from Brisbane if Nigel get's a recall.
Toadhall Saint Posted 12 July, 2009 Posted 12 July, 2009 There were rumors about NP coming back about a month ago while the Pinnacle fiasco was on going. Now in my mind NP does have unfinished work here.

sotonjoe Posted 12 July, 2009 Posted 12 July, 2009 What on earth did Pearson do to become the messiah?!!?!?!?
Toadhall Saint Posted 12 July, 2009 Posted 12 July, 2009 What on earth did Pearson do to become the messiah?!!?!?!? He's not the messiah, he's a very naughty boy!
Matthew Le God Posted 12 July, 2009 Posted 12 July, 2009 I think Andy Oldknow was working at Leicester last season.
SO16_Saint Posted 12 July, 2009 Posted 12 July, 2009 http://www.people.co.uk/sport/football/tm_headline=jim-s-ready-to-fix-it-for-saints&method=full&objectid=21513425&siteid=93463-name_page.html wouldnt read too much in to that article, they called Mark Wotte, Matt FFS.
Mole Posted 12 July, 2009 Posted 12 July, 2009 What on earth did Pearson do to become the messiah?!!?!?!? He was loyal and has the qualities to be great manager. If Mr Liebherr has a long term plan then NP ticks all the boxes to be like a Curbishley for Charlton or a Burley for Ipswich. We need a manager who's on the up, not a manager that's had his day. Pearson is a manager that could be a long term appointment.
sotonjoe Posted 12 July, 2009 Posted 12 July, 2009 He's not the messiah, he's a very naughty boy! heh ... my thoughts exactly.

And then if you could explain why he would want to take a step down to join us that would be great.
Toadhall Saint Posted 12 July, 2009 Posted 12 July, 2009 heh ... my thoughts exactly. Couldn't resist!
Turkish Posted 12 July, 2009 Posted 12 July, 2009 What on earth did Pearson do to become the messiah?!!?!?!? Quite right, yes he did an okay job for us and has done well at Leciester in a divison that the manager of Romsey Town could guide out of (apparantly) but compare his record to Wottes and its pretty similar and it could be argued Wotte took over a worse team, in a greater decline and had no money to bring in experienced loans unlike Pearson (Daily, Luketti, That striker cant remember his name who was abolsute pony) . Dont quite see people saying the new regime have sacked our Messiah do we!
Running Man Posted 12 July, 2009 Posted 12 July, 2009 We all know what a **** Milan is to work for - this story may have legs. Pearson was loved down here and he may think he has unfinished business to attend to... If he has fallen out with Mad Milan, Saint would be a very attractive option for him. I'm sure he'd also love re-joining up with AO who must be the life and soul of every party (just joking). My top three would be: Nigel Pearson Alan Curbishley - if he still has the hunger Mark Stimson - definitely an up and coming manager who will have the Gills near the top this season I think any of them would do well for us.
Gingeletiss Posted 12 July, 2009 Posted 12 July, 2009 Please explain how NP has proven that he is potentially a great manager. And then if you could explain why he would want to take a step down to join us that would be great. Gut feeling....remember what they were like......I think ( I said this last season), that he is a future England manager, and we should snap him up long term. IMHO of course

Turkish Posted 12 July, 2009 Posted 12 July, 2009 Sour Grapes eh Rupert. Stick to pig farming and hockey. Not at all, for your information i liked Pearson, this he is/would be a good long term choice and wouldn't be disapointed to see him back, just making the point that a few on here seem to have rose tinted glasses when it comes to him and ignore the facts. Such as the fact that Wotte did a comparable job in more difficult circumstances.
Mole Posted 12 July, 2009 Posted 12 July, 2009 a few on here seem to have rose tinted glasses when it comes to him and ignore the facts. Such as the fact that Wotte did a comparable job in more difficult circumstances. How is survival and relegation comparable?
saintjinksie Posted 12 July, 2009 Posted 12 July, 2009 Another Dutchman with no experience of the lower British leagues. No thanks. the ex chelsea players arent doing too bad, Di matteo and Zola. Not that Im suggesting we appoint Hasselbaink.
sotonjoe Posted 12 July, 2009 Posted 12 July, 2009 Gut feeling....remember what they were like......I think ( I said this last season), that he is a future England manager, and we should snap him up long term. IMHO of course heh ... gut feeling fair enough. i wouldn't be adverse to taking a punt on him again. However, I'd be a little embarrassed by the cyber-dancing in the streets that his appointment would apparently provoke!
Matty's Caddy Posted 12 July, 2009 Posted 12 July, 2009 He's not the messiah, he's a very naughty boy! LMAO!!!
Shroppie Posted 12 July, 2009 Posted 12 July, 2009 Trouble is, considering the "newspaper" it's in, chance of being anywhere near accurate are infinitessimal.
Turkish Posted 12 July, 2009 Posted 12 July, 2009 Wotte P w D L Pts Avergage PPG 18 4 7 7 19 1.05 Pearson P W D L Pts Average PPG 14 3 7 4 16 1.14 So if Pearson had continued at the average PPG he would have managed 18 games and achieve 20 points. One more than Wotte when Wotte had tougher circumstances to work in. Administration, worse team, relegation confirmed by 10 point deduction, dont forget he also tried to bring in some experience loan signings (which Pearson was able to do) but was unable to due to the financial constraints. We weren't relegated because of Wotte, we were relegated because of the boards gamble on the kids and the 6 or so months of crap before Wotte came in under JP. When the board did finally agree the kids experiement wasn't working it was to little to late but JP isnt blameless either as his tactics were poor and it was clear a few weeks into the season that one up front was never going to work, especially at home. Wotte and Pearsons records are very very similar, fact.

um pahars Posted 12 July, 2009 Posted 12 July, 2009 Such as the fact that Wotte did a comparable job in more difficult circumstances. Comparable, apart from the fact that as a part of the Revolutinary Coaching Set Up he delivered less than a point a game. And then comparable, apart from presiding over relegation and delivering a points per game return that if replicated over a full season would have seen us relegated. Pearson was no superstar, but Wotte failed to even match those "low" standards.
SW5 SAINT Posted 12 July, 2009 Posted 12 July, 2009 Everybody seems to have missed the fact that that article was basically all about Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink coming here!!!

Bailey Posted 12 July, 2009 Posted 12 July, 2009 Would love to have Pearson back here, but can't see it happening. Then again, I couldn't see us being taken over by a billionaire a few weeks back. You never know in football.
alpine_saint Posted 12 July, 2009 Posted 12 July, 2009 My top three : Pearson Keegan Strachan I have to say, Pearson is exactly what we need. I do hope Milan has put his foot in his mouth again.
eelpie Posted 12 July, 2009 Posted 12 July, 2009 Please explain how NP has proven that he is potentially a great manager. And then if you could explain why he would want to take a step down to join us that would be great. Well, he does like it in Southampton and didn't want to leave.
