Does anybody have Andy Oldknow's e-mail address? He needs to realise the grave consequences of appointing Tony Adams. I certainly will not renew if our new manager is Adams.

Oh, do leave it out.

Your e-mail will not make the blindest difference.

Let the new management get on with their job.

I realise an e-mail isn't going to do much, I was just going to put a link on it to this and other forums showing the outrage that would follow if he was appointed.

You mean, similar outrage to when Strachan was appointed?

I think that you'll find that there is a difference between scepticism and disappointment that followed WGS's original appointment and the strength of feeling that has been generated by the suggestion that Tony Adams is being considered.

Apart from any other consideration, WGS had not managed and failed at Skatesmouth, opening us up to ridicule that our super-duper mega wealthy new owner had to resort to hiring Pompey's rejects.

The last *****ing skate to manage the saints got us relegated and in this mess and i will heckle the donkey at every game if he gets the job. no to the drunk skate.

Good grief, don't some people EVER learn from mistakes?

We've spent the past 10 years or so demanding this, boycotting that AND WHERE HAS IT ACTUALLY GOT US ON THE PITCH!?

It's THEIR club now, it is THEIR money that is at risk from the decisions that THEY take. It is not some bloke doing a job and hoping for some stock options in a PLC.

They made the decision to buy us - that seems to be a good one

They made a decision to sell the ST's really quickly - that seems to be a good one

They made a decision to take their time to build the right structure - that seems to be a good one

They made a decision to keep KD - that seems to be a good one

They made a decision to release Wotte - that seems to be a good one

You know, even IF it is Tony Adams, I am sure it will be done for the RIGHT reasons to do with what needs to be done with the squad on the pitch, not because of sentiments or feelings. You don't get to be a billionaire by making BAD decisions, even if at the time others may think they are.

I agree with this. I don't want Tony Adams. Like many others I would love WGS to come back to the club, I just don't think it's going to happen. If TA was to be become manager I would be very disappointed but it would make no difference to my support for the club. I realise this makes me mental, wibble wibble

so..would appointing TA be a good decision on the basis Markus has made a fortune in a completely different field..?

FFS, TDD....

He's a smart enough cookie and rich enough to get the brains he needs for any field where he isnt an expert.

This is a totally different type of person we are dealing with compared to Lowe's big-time Charlie amateur outfit.

Well said Phil. I was elated over the takeover, the departure of Wotte and new contract for Kelvin Davis. Then the usual psychopaths appear and create hysteria that is beyond all belief. I am coming to believe that SFC is supported by inmates from a lunatic asylum.

Tony Adams is so desperate for a job that he has touted himself for nearly every position that comes up. Recently he bluffed the Scottish dailies into believing he was on the short list for the Celtic job. It got so bad the club issued a statement saying his calibre was even under consideration.

We also have Skate infiltrators on the message boards who are lapping up this kind of rumour mongering and the resulting hysteria. On top of that you'll have one or two disgruntled bidders for the club only too happy to muck stir, ensure that there are few season tickets sales etc...

I'm slowly coming around to believing we have to make a clean break from the past and that also means ditching the likes of the Saints Trust, and this message board. We need to get back to roots, to have admins that are admins and not those who stir up the mistrust and hysteria. All this type of 606 rumour hysteria must be banned and decent forum football chat restored.

Why NOT?

Just what ARE the selection criteria?

What is the Job Title?

What is the reporting structure?

What is the salary package?

What is the budget for player acquisitions and salaries?

What is the playing strategy?

What is the situation with the backroom staff?

We have NO idea what the criteria are, as Art indicates, there are a lot of people on here who seem to think it is all very well to hide behind a keyboard and continue to make emotional demands and orders to everyone else in the world and to call for boycotts and the like.

Utter cr*p.

Tony Adams has a track record of lower league football management and larger club support staff work. That is a factual point and there will be evidence to support that.

Tony Adams was a successful footballer playing at the highest level

Tony Adams had highly public personal issues

Tony Adams failed as a manager at the highest level

Tony Adams appears to have a lack of support amongst the customer (fan) base

(Badger - I'm with you of course but it will take a while for ML to really understand the difference between fans and customers - so to make a BUSINESS case right now you have to use what he would understand while leading the explanation of the difference mate!)

Now making a rational post that Adams is not suitable, or that in our opinion he is damaged goods or even IMHO is not competent to do the job - that is fine, but this wave of emotive one-liners and boycott statements and aggression is just trolling at it's worst.

We DID that before with Hoddle

If the selection/interview team truly believe that Tony Adams IS the best manager for us then maybe they know just a few more details than we do.

I won't go off and celebrate his appointment, in fact I'll be unhappy BUT i will not go off on a divisive rant about it before it has even happened

Personally, I actually have every confidence that he will not get past that interview no matter what political strings he wants to pull, simply because the new team are showing high levels of WISDOM instead of WUMDOM or self-benefit than we have had in the past.

I cannot believe the ridiculous negative posting that's started already before the new set up have spoken or a balls been kicked. It's pathetic and quite disturbing. Threats not to get a season ticket and so on.....

I suspect the same people getting so worked up over Tony Adams were the same ones outraged at WGS's appointment. Let them get on with the job and comment AFTER an appoinment, and AFTER we've played a few games......

T

Indeed - his record as manager of Wycombe Wanderers

Adams became in November 2003. They were relegated that season. Although the club were top of the table in August 2004, a loss of form saw them fall down the table (not untypical of Wycombe!). He resigned in November 2004, citing personal reasons.

Games 53 Won 12 Drew 21 Lost 20 Win % 22.64

I'd be amazed if if he were even under consideration because:

- his lower league record is poor - I've got WW fans as friends as they considered him to be tactically inept

- the Skate connection

- his record at the Skates

- his complete lack of charisma and ability of motivate

- the judgment of the new owner to date has been sound.

I'm afraid I tend to agree with you. Aside from the posts that should get deleted and aren't I recently sent a pm to the admin ( as they ask ) after someone posted a message that was clearly a personal attack on me and this poster having his own agenda. What response did I get ? Nothing which simply is not good enough so one has to wonder why have the facility to report someone/something when you get no response after doing so.

Well said, that has to be the best posts i have seen here in a long time. To many people live there support for this club through this message board and yeah its great if you cant visit SMS regulary and its a great way of staying in touch but it stopped being an enjoyable debating / banter forum a long time ago.

These people have just rescued us from extintion or a bunch of developer type chancers who would of made Lowe Crouch Wilde look like the three wise men and here we are criticising at the first opportunity. I for one dont think TA will be the next manager of this club but i for one couldnt believe we employed WGS so damaged was his reputation at Coventry and he turned into one of the best managers we've ever had.

what's wrong with Tony Adams? He's no Skate, he's an Arsenal legend and he was a great player. Stop ****ing moaning.

If we are discussing TA then agreed he is an Arsenal legend, read his book and you will realise what an incredible journey this man has been on and considering how so many young footballers crash and burn his most remarkable achievement is not measured by the trophys and medals but in the way he has ressurected his life in such a positive way. I wouldn't want him as are our manager because i found his post match interviews and press comments cringe worthy last season and if that persona is transfered into a no nonsense league 1 dressing room with a sprinkling of seasoned professional then i do not think he would be good for this club. I believe that could be reason why he was so respected as a number 2 but unable to transfer that respect as a manager either at Wycombe following Theo Foley and down the road following the unmentionable person.
