Although bookies have stopped taking money on it it seems

"The Bookies have stopped taking bets on this market as it seems like the deed has been done and the new Southampton manager is going to be Gordon Strachan. Gordon has recently parted with Celtic and this looks another tough assignment for the Scot but no better man. All of this comes in the wake of the new buyout of the club and it seems that things could be getting better for the southern club.

Sky Bet's Mike Triffitt said: "Strachan is the only candidate that customers have wanted to back since news broke of Wotte's sacking yesterday. "We took a steady stream of decent bets from the Southampton area at odds against last night and this morning we had several requests for four-figure bets at 8/13. We are close to suspending the market as, if the money is to be believed, Strachan will be making a return to St Mary's."

Please dont let this goon near our club....not after all we've been through.

I wouldn't go that far. I think as an out and out manager he would be a disaster and definitely do not want him as 'the boss' but he did do a good job down the road as a number 2 to Redkrapp. Reading between the lines, it looks like we will have a continental style set up with a head coach and general manager/DoF. I could see Adams (HC) working under a Keegan or Strachan (GM) working, although he wouldn't be my first choice for that either, TBH.

you are right, those interviews were far beyond clueless, he was a laughing stock - skates were embarrassed by him.

Yes, but the problem is not his lack of knowledge or insight about football. It's the personal baggage that leads him to say all those strange things. It seems to me he just can't handle the pressure of being a manager. He seemed to be fearing the sack from the day he replaced Redknapp, and then spent a lot of time trying to come up with reasons why he should and would not be sacked, and as is his wont, he did it all in public. AFAIC, being clueless is different from being incompetent in some respect. The danger is that whoever interviews the candidates might be so impressed with Adams's knowledge as to overlook his deficiencies. That is probably why there are people in football who would still back him to become a manager even though all evidence implies he's very unlikely to succeed.

If he were to be appointed, it would be like killing 25000 fans with one stone. Hard to imagine a less popular appointment. If the shortlist of Adams, Adams, Coppell is true, I have to assume it would take a lot to persuade Coppell to join the club so soon after he left Reading. After that it would be a toss-up between the two Adamses, and one of them took on a managing job about a month ago...

Not going to happen.
