I was sent this yesterday:-

Mobile Phone directory - Your mobile number will be made available

All,

You may already have heard about this but early next week all UK mobiles will be on a directory which will mean that anyone will be able to access the numbers. It’s easy to unsubscribe but it must be done before the beginning of next week to make sure that you are ex directory. You may want to suggest it to all your friends and family who have UK mobiles or they could be swamped by unsolicited messages and calls. Removal is recommended by the BBC - see link below.

To remove your number click on the link below, you need your mobile phone with you to do this as they text you a code

1, http://www.118800.co.uk/

2, Click on ‘Ex Directory’ at top right hand side of page, from there it’s straight forward.

Who sent you this - was it the 118800 mob, or was it a circular? as I understand it, I think the service has to ask you to accept the call and connect you without handing your number out. I wouldn't be surprised if they were using this 'ExDirectory' mullarkey to harvest numbers!!

It just came from a friend. Just I'm just interested to hear peoples views or experience of this.

This was on the radio 1 (I think) a few weeks ago, they do have a directory of numbers. It is for real. I didn't go ex directory as I didn't come up on the search, so was concerned that they may harvest my number in the process. IF you are on the list though I would go ex directory!

Read the following BBC item! Tis Kosher
