VectisSaint Posted 10 July, 2009 Share Posted 10 July, 2009 I may have mentioned this once or twice before but the fact that Wotte "didn't see this coming" tells me all I need to know about his judgment as a manager IMHO of course I'm not sorry he's gone, but having just been given a new 1 year rolling contract what would have given him the impression he was about to be sacked. the question is, who gave him that contract, presumably it was the Football Club board, Jones and the Eastenders related guy with Fry's permission. Bit shoddy, but he really was not the right guy. But we need someone in sharpish, critica part of the season, all else hangs on pre-season
RedAndWhite91 Posted 10 July, 2009 Share Posted 10 July, 2009 http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/saints/news/4485143.Wotte__speechless__after_losing_his_job/ I wonder where he got the idea he was going to be the manager. From the First statement issued I thought changes were likely "I believe we have a superb opportunity to rebuild this great Club. Clearly, this will require resources, planning, hard work and patience. We will assemble a strong management team at every level of the Club. We will act rapidly, but also plan for the long term, because I am here for the long term. The strong management team at every level caught my eye initially So why did Wotte think he had the job then? Perhaps the fact that a week previously he had just signed a new contract? It was on SSN last night, about how unexpected it was, you should try and see it. I do feel sorry for him but I can see where Liebherr is coming from wanting a clean sweep, as this is the beginning of a new era after all. (although getting a years wages for 7 days work isn't a bad cushion, especially when he will obviously walk into another job due to his repertoire...let me know if I start sounding too much like SaintRobbie though....) Mr X Posted 10 July, 2009 Share Posted 10 July, 2009 You're starting to sound like Joda from Star Wars mmmm..the force...poor in Wotte... it is. The dog actually looks embarrassed to be seen in that! (can dogs even get embarrassed?)

There was no way Wotte was going to stay more than a few months, he'd have been sacked by December anyway given his footballing prowess. Jones, Fry and ultimately Lowe as previous boardmembers gave him the contract. I guess they thought they'd keep their man in place for a bit or knew Markus would haveto pay him off and therefore were setting him up for a nice golden handshake for his loyalty to the Club, or do I mean Lowe? Who cares anyway. He's got a nice bunch of notes in his back pocket and I hope we dont see him or the likes of him here again in a managerial role. Nineteen Canteen Posted 10 July, 2009 Share Posted 10 July, 2009 Oldknow deserves a chance, in fact a major chance. He also secured the SISU deal. Clearly this is a man who can get things done. But he is not the decision maker, that lies with Nicola thingy. Not interested if his style makes him unpopular - if he's arotweiler behind the scenes and we're successful I dont care. Secondly, I was really really pleased last night. Decisive move in removing Wotte signals ambitous intent. Like it. Plus Wotte was crap on the pitch. Simples. Lastly, is this passing comment by Wotte the act of a dignified man? Better off without him in so many ways. He sounds as bitter as his good friend Mr Lowe. Nicola Thingy? Says all we need to know about some fan's respect of our new owner and his team. Grave pity that Wotte's dignity is not reflected by those he showed nothing but professionalism and respect for their feelings and desires as fans of this club. I have decided it's not the sacking that has tarnished things for me but the reaction of many alleged fans on this forum. I wonder how many will be trotting up to put their money where their mouth is. BTW, Dragonov, excellent post and I share your concerns whilst welcoming the investment and hopefully stability that this will deliver. However, we are clearly dealing with some ruthless and driven individual's IMO and if support is not reciprocated by the fans, we may be cropping up on RightMove. Scummer Posted 10 July, 2009 Share Posted 10 July, 2009 Nicola Thingy? Says all we need to know about some fan's respect of our new owner and his team. Because of course, you have no history of deliberately misnaming and insulting officers of the club do you.......

St Marco Posted 10 July, 2009 Share Posted 10 July, 2009 I don't feel sorry for him one bit. The business he is in is a results business, if he thinks he would be safe with getting us relegated and winning just 5 of his 24 games. How he can seriously expect to be kept on at a proffesional club in England especially now with the resources it has just defies belief. The truth is he did not deserve to be kept on, he had not earned it. His comment about sacking everyone at the club to me just shows how bitter he really is. Was always going to fire him but gave the nod to Fry to extend the contract so Wotte could get a decent payoff as a reward for his loyalty. sidthesquid Posted 10 July, 2009 Share Posted 10 July, 2009 I still dont understand why Harry seems to be a good manager everywhere else than at SFC. He was a disaster or perhaps the players were rubbish Agent Harry was on the take from his old mate Milan - brown envelopes after every defeat. (All allegedly, of course...) How else do you explain that abject and pathetic display at Fartton Park?
Wes Tender Posted 10 July, 2009 Share Posted 10 July, 2009 And as I mentioned previously, Poortvliet felt betrayed when Wotte took over from him too. What comes around, goes around, or is it the other way about?
VectisSaint Posted 10 July, 2009 Share Posted 10 July, 2009 Nicola Thingy? Says all we need to know about some fan's respect of our new owner and his team. LOL at 19C moaning about people not respecting names of board members. Pot kettle and black spring instantly to mind, even though I do agree with the sentiment. I was annoyed yesterday that people still couldn't get it right about the spelling of Liebherr's first name.
