Bookies odds on next Southampton manager

I think the only reason Tony Adams went to favourite was because his agent was spreading sh*t to the media saying he was set to be manager of Southampton to get noticed just like he did with the Celtic job. And this made people put bets on.

Just Paul Merson been drinking too much again I suspect!

To be honest the betting means nothing. The odds are determined by how popular a selection is and how much money has been placed on each selection. We can see that no-body knows who its going to be because the odds have been changing so much on many different selections. As soon as sky hear from a reliable source who its going to be they will suspend betting completely.

Have to be honest that is yet another thing I have mentioned on this thread many times lol

I wish it were possible to have a "sticky" post which everyone had to read before posting to save me repeating:

1) As above the market means nothing in this case a there is no real "form" guide and Neil is dead right it is determined simply by bets placed so the original "book" would have been based on factors such as ex managers, ex players etc, etc. Post 211 refers !

"Yep but Coppell is now listed at 3/1. Pardew is 12/1. Essentially the bookies have as little idea as we have and are simply reacting to bets being placed. The new manager could still as yet be unlisted !!"

2) Betting is suspended between 9pm and 10pm as Sky don't want to monitor it overnight. As with his morning though it might be slightly earlier though invariably not before SaintStevo says he can't find it ;) Eg post 384

"Yes, as I have posted at least twice already. Do please at least make it appear you are trying to keep up Stevo. Everything with you seems to be in slow mo like the 16/1 winner you posted AFTER the race

Book re-opens at 10am ! "

3) Skybet are the only firm taking bets as far as I know.

4) Nothing that appears in any tabloid is likely to be true unless we already know it has happened.

Right that should now guarantee we get an announcement as to the new manager very soon !!

having done £100 on woods i am a bit skint....

(£50 @ 2/1 and another £50 just on @ 5/2)

Anything to do with our potential new manager :smt102

Think you should have taken the 13/5 with Betfred or PP. Not that it matters if he doesn't win !! Think you'll be out with the begging bowl on Monday !

Tiger Woods for Southampton Manager... HCDAJFU!

An indication of how daft & reactionary Sky's prices are, would be proven by some idiot having £10 on Tiger

Within minutes, T Woods would appear on the book at 25/1

Darren Ferguson - how far can he realistically take Peterborough Utd?

He's probably asking himself the same question & 2 successive promotions into the CCC is almost certainly the limit

At Saints, the possibilities for Premier League football are far greater

So that's why he signed a 4-year contract with a club who has a wealth backer and Hull and Burnley aren't really in the EPL.

The longer there is no appointment the more I think they are waiting for Strachan's return

I agree. There would seem little logic in unnecessary delay at this late stage - and if there was a reason ie new man at another club - the reasons would be known. This combined with resigning KD, not resigning BWP could make you think the wheels are in motion already - albeit from afar, maybe sunny Spain. Of course the same reason could apply for another prospective manager.

Finally the issuing of a denial either from AO or WGS would end all of the speculation re his possible return - you could say the silence is deafening....

It must be Strachan. There's just so much evidence and rumour pointing towards him - compared with virtually nothing in support of anyone else

It does not mean that as Strachan is the favorite he will become the manager it just means lots of people are betting on him being manager

Yes you may well be right but I am not really sure that is the right decision to get us from the bottom of Div 1 to the Premiership but with loads of money perhaps it will be OK

The new manager will be announced at the ajax game, so ive been told. Source: i cant say, but she works at the club.
"she" - well that narrows it down.

Let us hope that the announcement over the tannoy does not result in astonished/disappointed silence, apart from the sound of the wind and tumble weed rolling across the pitch.

the evidence being......

Well yeah i am talking more in hope than anything, but every supposed ITK comment has been with regards to WGS. He's the only person we know to have been at the training ground - and if this was only for his knee problem why hasnt he come out and said that? thirdly we know how outspoken he is so why refuse to comment on the speculation?

What have we heard rumour wise with regards to the likes of Ferguson, Tisdale and Pearson? Very little in comparison to all the stuff about WGS

I just feel its gonna happen

Then again i bet on us to get automatic promotion last year so what do I know:D

Pearson's staying at Leicester, so the Daily Echo understands.

This is interesting though, suggests that the club must at least have spoken to Leicester. Any quotes MB or just another "the echo understands that NP...etc"?

Strachan will bring us 4 years of stodge, then he'll walk out .

Let's have someone with a future FFS.
