New manager Speculation thread

Finger - pulse - the - on.

Rearrange this well known phrase. The last Lowe-dite leaves us 19.

I think I'll hang around whilst the anti-Liebherr group strike up their tunes and start to moan about his choice for manager. We have been told we have a budget available for a League 1 club no point spending for a level we have yet to prove we can achieve collectively - fans and club.

Wotte is our man, anyone else will drain the budget for players, so please start to accept where we are - saved and about to embark on a period of consolidation.

lol... 19... you're a gag mate.

Day 1 sign Davis, day 2 sack Wotte.............. 10 out of 10 so far.

Keegan , Dowie, Le Tiss, or Svensson, will not be appointed.

I think you will find Coppel, Curbishley or Boothroyd will be more the type of candidate.

I would put money on the appointment being made before wednesday.

Totally agree!

Big time manager to attract big time players. Correlates exactly with the wishes of our new owner as communicated by his COO. Some funds will be available in keeping with our league status. That's our current status not where some of you think we should be.

Attend a few games and prove your commitment to the club and perhaps he'll be encouraged to spend a little of what he has earned next year in keeping with his father's doctorine. In the meantime get behind Wotte your speculation is tedious and insulting to Markus and his team who have bailed out your club. A tad discouraging for them don't you think to see some of the comments from fans allegedly grateful for having their club saved from extinction. I wonder if they think its just the ungracious lunatic fringe at work again. ;)

One thing is for sure judging by the last few weeks their cards will be kept close to their chest and they will watch with interest how the fans react to the takeover as the dust settles on the deal. We should pray they don't venture here.

Premiership football with Tisdale really? We will be moving too quick for managers like Tisdale or Widdrington.

Sorry mate but i think you maybe forgetting which league we're in.

2 years absolute minimum to get to the premier league. Given the expereince he has of the lower league's (2/3Years is it?), that gives him minimum 4 years as a professional manager.

How much experience did David Moyes have when he took over at Everton, 4years or thereabouts I believe.

As you could guess I've jumped off the fence and believe that a new manager like Tisdale is the way to go, and if I'm wrong and he doesn't 'make the grade' at least we'll know that, rather than debating the point. If the stories are to be believed his development as a manager is being closely watched by some, with more than just a passing fancy.

Oldknow stated earlier today, i believe, that we will not be spending loads to fight this season, so why not take the 'risk' plenty of others have made it, Ferguson, Wenger, and so on, they all needed a break at some point.

Lets, for a second, just look back at other attempts, Dodd, Gray, Wigley. Did anybosdy really think they would make it as manager's, no didn't think so. Tisdale is a guy that has at least proved some level of ability at a mangerial level, it just remains to be seen whether he is able to move on forward from where he is.

Thanks (Murdock dons tin hat)....

Know I don't know how much cash they have Robbie but I got a fair idea from Mr Oldknow how much they intend to spend and I think in line with those comments you need to reign your neck just a little bit.

Wotte is our man, not my words, I didn't give him the contract but willing to support him because he has been recruited by the man who saved this club.

Just because Mr Liebherr is worth c£2.5bn he does not have to spend it or listen to excitable and unrealistic individuals like yourself. We are no longer a PLC Robbie, so no shareholder revolt to overthrow the evil dictator.

So perhaps the best way to encourage Mr Liebherr is not to question his decisions 1 day in to his reign. We are in private owenership now and he can do pretty much what he likes as he is worth 'billions' and to lose £13m because fans start to upset him would be a mere bagatelle and he would be able to sell to who he likes even the lowest bidder. ;) All aboard the brave new era Robbie and bring your whinging mates with you once they have accepted Mark Wotte as manager.

Well hopefully the Times is way off the mark.

Getting Adams (Tony or Micky) in would be an unmitigated disaster as they have both shown they are crap managers.

Hopefully a good and upcoming manager like Paul Tisdale: not a drama queen (and poor manager) like Keegan.

Guess we'll find out soon enough...........

Well can't say I was expecting that! I was just warming up as well.

I have no idea who should be manager but it seems there will be a few with their heads down if a 'clean break from the past' is Markus's objective.

If he does listen to fans and reads what gets said on the Echo forum then it could be a rocky ride. I pray it's not Pearson, Keegan or Strachan you never know we may get Tony Adams :D

one things for sure ... the managerial appointment ( and length of contract ) will speak volumes about the rate of intent to progress.

I personally would hope that keegan is offerered the job ..it seems that strachan wants at least a years time out before considering getting back into football

Wotte is not the manager 19... he's been sacked mate.

I have also made several posts acknowledging the need to create a constructive fans group to counter Mr Liebherr's influence - BUT CONSTRUCTIVELY and from distance. Our last group was a little too close to our last boards for credibility.

Wotte's history, like Lowe.

Love the thought of WGS, He got us to fourth and wanted to step it up further with a great list of players that Lowe laughed at.

Give strachan the chance to buy what he wants as he sure has the pedigree to get his team playing the right way.

Now I know this may be laughed off but I have been told today by someone who I used to work with at the club that Strachan was at training ground today between the time training finished and the Wotte sacking announcement. This person actually spoke to Strachan and asked what he was doing there. Strachans response was that the physio Mo Gimpel was looking at his leg! Yes, I know sounds far fetched but this person is not an ITK blagger and doesn't make up nonesense for effect. Has anyone else heard this?

It's got to be someone like Cotterill. We need a manager that can get us out of this division. That knows how to manage players and get the best out of them. He can get them fit and instill discipline and that's what we need at this level.

Matt Le Tiss begged Strachen to consider coming back, but he said he wanted a year away from the game, he did think about it though, I wonder if this new guys money and ambition have made him have a rethink?
