Wotte has parted company with Saints

Thank god the correct decision has been made, and so swiftly too. There is no room for sentiment in our position. Wotte seems a nice bloke, but a poor manager. And as for this loyalty he's supposedly shown us, was that the turning down a lower league job in Egypt? I mean for goodness sake, it was hardly a step up.

Bloody hell these new guys don't mess about do they. They obviously knew Wotte would not be kept on and must have someone lined up or a bloody good idea about who they want!!

Personally i believe this is the right choice. Feel sorry for him and he must be gutted because his lunchtime interview at Staplewood showed he did not even have an inclining this was coming!

How long before the new manager is announced then...the rate these new guys are going then i would not be surprised to see the new manager unveiled within the next 72 hours :)

You're not Mark Fry by any chance are you? ;)

A bit of a surprise but TBH these guys will not mess about. Yes MW was a decent guy but he would never of been able to deliver and business (Football or otherwise) is all about delivering.

Good luck to Mark but he probably knew that he wasn't ever going to be the right man to take this club forward.

The acid test now for the new regime will be who they appoint - get it right and we could well be on our way on the long climb - get it wrong and we will need to put a year on any target that has been spoken about.

I agree.

I have nothing but complete and utter respect for the man. He's worked his socks off all summer looking at players, watching next seasons oppo and planning the pre-season preparations.

When he had an opportunity to leave us, he stuck around - and i will always be greatfull for that.

all the best wotte...

I agree

I'm glad as I'd like a fresh start' date=' but feel sympathetic for the guy and he has left with the respect of all Saints fans and his integrity wholly intact. Thanks Mark.[/quote']

Blimey I agree with you totally !! He deserves every credit for the way he conducted himself and I only wish him well for the future.

I have to say that this has saddened me.

Personally, I thought Wotte had handled himself in an incredibly dignified and professional manner during this whole saga, and that he had earned his chance to show what he could do without the restrictions that had been imposed on him previously (not to mention taking over a team where dressing room morale was already shot to pieces).

Still, we have a new owner and no doubt he will have his own ideas who he wants to take us forward.

Still, thanks Mark Wotte. You've had an incredibly tough job these last few months, and I wish you well with whatever comes your way next.

:rolleyes:FFS It's been 1 hour and 20 minutes since Wotte was sacked. How long are we to be kept waiting to hear who the new manager is - I can't take this infernal WAITING... :smt073

F5 Buttons for sale! I'll let you know soon when they are ready.:)

Fantastic news. Once again, ML and team have acted swiftly and decisively to sort out the wrongs of the past and to put the club back on the right track. Wotte staying would have been cementing the disaster and indeed repeating it in L1. As I said yesterday, it was best that either he went immediately or he was given full long-term backing and the former was the best decision for Saints by a country mile.

Just really loving the vibe that I'm getting from the new regime.

Feel very sorry for him, great dignity and loyalty was shown to Saints by Wotte. But I don't think he was the right man for the job long term. Good Luck to him in future ventures and I hope the Egypt based job is still open for him

Exactly my sentiments, I wish him well- and am really looking forward to seeing who the new manager will be.

My favourite line from the statement is this "Our search will be conducted in a systematic and professional manner. We will find the right candidate, who will fulfil the criteria necessary to move the Club forward."

No messing about saying we've spoken to manager a, and manager b etc. It will be done in private, and done right.

Can't help thinking this is potentially a bad thing for a number of reasons:

1) new season is nearly upon us and we've transferred one set of uncertainties for another

2) After Wotte has acted with real dignity this appears, at first glance, to be a real stab in the back

ok then .........2

Well im impressed how quickly things are starting to happen.

Getting rid of Wotte is a good move because lets face it his tactics and ideas concerning players were not going to get us out of this league.

Lets hope the new manager knows his stuff.

But they got is IN this league!

Boy I bet there is a tide of unease spreading through the club at present. It may mean the end for Killer as well

I hope not. They need to keep some semblance of what this club used to be, and Killer epitomises that imo.

Thanks MW - unfortunately loyalty has cost the club a lot in the past - Messrs Grey and Wigley spring to mind - so it's 'not personal' as our Michael Corleone lookalike CE might say. Ignore the spiteful, nasty comments above - there can be nothing lower than kicking someone who has just lost their livelihood - just take note that the vast majority of fans respect the dignity and effort that you have shown. Good luck for the future.

Very very good post, why should the new owner be stuck with Wotte because of sentiment? Very loyal but we must move on.

Does the Echo know the definition of the word EXCLUSIVE?? For the last 3 days, the top Saints story on their web-site (including this one) has carried the icon "Saints Exclusive" but unless I'm having allusinations, Saints takeover, Davis signing and Wotte's sacking has been all over the UK sports media.

I hope Phil , Mr 100%, from Dubai does not get overlooked for Saints new boss.....Some of the forum team even refer to him as big PHIL.....Knowing our luck...Mr Phil also has his UEFA Pro licence..already....Apparently you can get anything down the market.

yep he is Mr 100% but his team wouldnt run through brick walls for him like my team of winners would for their team. Different quality the away team, classy and held the moral high ground. I expect you to be in the underhand camp Ottery. A bit of money always seems to turn your head Lol

I've forgotten more about football than the bloke knows AND I haven't taken two clubs into adminstration. Christ, I'm more deserving of a pay-off than he is.

If this was the old days we would have given him cash in a briefcase and then arranged for him to be knocked over the head and mugged on the way home!!!

I know this was a while ago but just wanted to know,

Is it the manager that takes a club into administration or the board?

Good luck to Wotte. The new lot must have someone in mind as I wouldnt have thought they will do more than a week in the selection process to give the new guy a good shout at next season.

Wonder if KD had any idea in this? Not that he should but sometimes players get frozen out by certain managers. He could have signed up knowing he will be number 1 and find out the next manager thinks he is pants and benches him.

I just know quality when I see it.:smt007.....By the way you appear to have a similar

football coaching badge as Wigley, Gray, Branfoot, JP, Wotte and L..e :D

Bring on Sir Bobby Robson:)

Blimey..what a couple of days we are having eh !!

Club rescued from going under and out of business..

KD decides to stay with us rather than play in the premiership

manager sacked..

To be fair to MW was in a no win situation and the signs have been there for months..but good luck to the bloke.

Life goes back to the never a dull moment and exciting times of supporting the Saints.

I feel very sorry for Mark Wotte. He has stuck by this club during the darkest days in it's history. I hope he gets a decent pay off and finds another post soon.

Now for the future. In a way, Wotte's departure looks like a signal of intent by the new management. I only hope that they consider the next appointment carefully and do not make the same mistakes as the Lowe regime did in disastrous selections.

I am not surprised or saddened by thi decision. although I do feel sorry for Wotte. He has shown tremendous loyalty over the last few weeks when others would have walked. Wish him all the best.

Now where can I get new F5 buttons from?

Funnily enough it isnt their coaching that let them down it was therr man management skills. I believe in good team spirit and if you were privilaged to have been in our dressing room you would have seen it building. Smashing bunch.

I would have thought Phil is more suited to the boardroom underhand politics and dealings.
