Wotte has parted company with Saints

Our new regime is looking at this with a business head rather than with a political or sentimental head. Very refreshing IMHO.

I am delighted we have new owners and will support them. I do believe if a c certain person had done the same we would not be so forgiving. As I say footballing wise it is probably correct

OMG here we go again another thread on whose going to be the next manager, one thing you can say about being a Saints Fan is that its never boring there is always something to talk about. Good luck to MW and good ridence I say he was never good for our club but respect his loyalty, Bring on some one with a passion for our club thas what we need now . Bring back Gordon Strachan now that would really make my day

Why, if he was offered a contract and the money is right, and the new owners want him, no reason for him not to come back

a new manager will have never heard of him and would probably want someone far better!!!...apart from his wonder goal and the odd decent header he wasn't that wonderful!!!!

I am totally shocked this is a man who has shown an exceptional amount of loyalty towards our beloved club (something we haven`t seen much of in recent years). I wish Mr Wotte all the best for the future and hope the job in Egypt is still open and available for him! ByeBye Mr. Wotte you`ve been a star and thankyou for all you`ve done.........

Having said all that i honestly believe that from the clubs point of view a change of manager is PROBABLY the right move. Lets just hope for a BIG name (KK for example) who has got the skills to take our great club onwards and upwards.

I still feel that maybe MW`s loyalty could have been rewarded with his returning to his old role with the academy tho. Sad for Mr Wotte but (so long as the new man is the right man) happy for the great SFC!

Never a dull moment at this club is there !

Mark Wotte had a decent chance to show what he could do when he took over from Poortvliet and to be brutally honest there was not much evidence the team were responding to him . Mr Liebherr said yesterday he was going to put place in a top class management structure at the club and it looks like he's a man of his word .

I'd expect an announcement regarding our next manager within the next few days as someone is in all probability already lined up - If I was a betting man I've have a few quid on us getting an established foreign manager with a solid record of success behind him .

The message is perfectly clear , shape up or ship out .

But he had little time and no money!

But he could of got the players up for it, and in the end we went down with a whimper (even before the -10)with no passion, I wouldnt of minded going down with a fight but it wasnt there and you have to put that down to motivation of the players!

You don't invest the money that markus L has and leave the most important job to someone with his experience, history or previous results.

However loyal Woote was in the pre season, this was his biggest ever gig and i doubt he will ever manage at this level again.

He does go with our thanks and best wishes, but the reality (especially now) is that we can do much better.

Best regards to Wotte , i suppose that means Svennson will be next to go as well , shame if that happens to . Im sure there is a super plan ready to go to the next level .You cant put a price on a good manager to get us out of this division , i would expect a fairly big name the young players will look up to , and the old heads will also respect , being a player of Kevin Davis's stature and playing career it must be hard to get the motivation required by a manager who has achieved nothing as a player or manager . I think you might see a venables or some one of that ilke, a motivator with a presence

That person employed tweedle dumb and tweedle fecking dumber!

At last we might have someone who knows football Nick!

After all, first decision persuade our best player to stay!!!!!

Second decision, fire an incompetent manager rather than EMPLOY one.

So far, they're the best owners we've ever had!

A new manager would already have been approached.

These guys know what they are doing.

This is the RIGHT time to lose Wotte.

NOT a month or 2 into the season.

I expect a higher profile manager will be announced next week...... WGS, KK, AB etc.

Finally common sense prevailed in the end then. If you got a guy who has got 4 of his 6 proffesional teams relegated and none of them promoted then what does that say? If you had money would you feel confident handing it to him?

The guy seemed nice enough but if we did not go into admin he would of been fired anyway, it was rumoured ages ago the players don't respect him and other people in the game do not either, didn't Jan call him a **** or something?

My view is he was hanging around because he knew he would not get a better offer anywhere else, he talked on two occasions about not expecting to be here in the summer and having to find new employment, shock horror it finally happened.

We have saved ourself the future of people waiting for him to slip up to say i told you so again. The fan base would never be 100% confident in his leadership due to what we saw last season.

A whole new start is what was the right thing to do, he was being kept on for emotional reasons, when millions and millions are at stake you simply cannot allow that to happen, you need the best guy you can possibly get to help look after your business, Mark Wotte was never that guy and never going to be that guy.

So goodluck to him, i hope he can get a role somewhere in the club, maybe a youth coach. But first team coach he should not be anywhere near.

The news get's better and better

I agree.

I have nothing but complete and utter respect for the man. He's worked his socks off all summer looking at players, watching next seasons oppo and planning the pre-season preparations.

When he had an opportunity to leave us, he stuck around - and i will always be greatfull for that.

all the best wotte...

I agree - i hope he got a golden handshake as he turned down the chance to work in Eygypt.

He had a year and was brought in BECAUSE we had no money - that was supposed to be his forte - achieving success with very little resource

Trousers. Wotte's been sacked. I am now giving you an electronic hug and a non-homosexual kiss in celebration for talking sense over the last 48 hours.

A wise long term decision for the club taken at exactly the right time.

Wotte was not the right man for the job, yes he acted with dignity and professionalism, but he was only appointed in the first place as their was no ther choice financially or personnel wise due to the mess the previous regime got us into.

He was not universally backed by the fans for "Footballing Reasons" so well done to the transition team.

Many appoinments need to be made with a long term view, we have had too many bandages and sticking plaster remedies. this shows somebody is thinking and planning.

Their trainset, their plans, their money. First call is spot on, makes me even happier than I was before this news.

From a human perspective, football managers come and go, yes it is sad, no he did nothing wrong, and conducted himself well.

Mind you, Nickh or myself could have done that as could many on here. Bon Voyage Mr Wotte.

I'm appalled, is this the reward for loyalty?

No. But then I think all this "loyalty" stuff is so overplayed in this case - he merely stayed with us, getting paid, over the summer (dignified as he was while doing so). But he also took us down last year and unfortunately clearly wasn't up to the job. That's the reason he's been sacked.

Agree with your post Phil. He was just not good enough. I will say no more than that!

I am one of them who have been defending Wotte and I was certain that he wouldn't have been given a contract without the new owner having giving it the nod. I thought he needed support and respect rather than a constant chipping from the sideline, which is a newish and dreadful trait of supporters.

The sacking is a loud and clear expression of intent from Markus. Whoever is coming in is the next clear expression, after which we will have a fair idea of what the future holds. I am impressed by the way things are done now that the sale is complete, in an honourable way without rumours or tip-offs.

Whoever will be our next manager I will give him (it can't be a her, can it?) my full support, and I hope that every Saints fan will do the same.

Mixed feelings - my heart says that he should have been rewarded for getting on with his job and stabilising the ship despite the distractions; my head says that some fresh thinking footballing-wise was necessary (I actually prefered the football played by JP). Probably helps that MLT and flash gordon were drawing up lists of possible candidates.

Good luck Mark! Although I think this is the best decision for the club I do thi he has been fantastic over the last few weeks and his loyalty, when he could have accepted a very well paid job in Eqypt, should be commended. Thank you and best wishes

He was on sky sports news 3 minutes ago, saying he signed a new contract last week, make of that what you will.

Yes with the consent of the last board - Jones and Lowe etc... on Fry's advice.

Not with the new board.

I like these guys, I'm with LG3C decisively sacking an incompetent manager and kept our best player in 24 hrs... best owners we have had for MANY years!

I do not think a debate on his football managerial merits is warranted at this time but I would like to acknowledge his coaching skills which is why we acquired him in the first place. Having had the genuine pleasure of meeting and chatting with him a couple of times I would like to thank him for his efforts and loyalty and wish him well for the future.

Really disappointed by the decision, and it has put a small downer on recent events for me. Important we get the right person in, and so that means Boothroyd, Coppell and Keegan need not apply.

Well I'm glad you're not drawing up the short-list and conducting the interviews then!!!

Wote and Poortvleit both came acroos as decent chaps.. but this is up there with the news of the takeover!!

Let`s start a new era with a Change from top to bottom... We need a manager who can attract decent names/players and be respected by them. Also, a manager who knows the English game. E.G. League 1 and The Championship isn`t for the faint hearted!!

Bloody hell these new guys don't mess about do they. They obviously knew Wotte would not be kept on and must have someone lined up or a bloody good idea about who they want!!

Personally i believe this is the right choice. Feel sorry for him and he must be gutted because his lunchtime interview at Staplewood showed he did not even have an inclining this was coming!

How long before the new manager is announced then...the rate these new guys are going then i would not be surprised to see the new manager unveiled within the next 72 hours :)
