Wow. That's come out the blue. Right decision I feel though. Full credit to him for his conduct during what has been a difficult time for our club. I wish him all the very best in his future employment.

If true..Good luck and thank you Wotte...BUT true intent now being shown by new owners and staff.....NEW Manager/Coach soon as.......MLT/Keegan/Shearer/Tisdale or the like to run football....SOD IT...All of them in...

I'm glad as I'd like a fresh start, but feel sympathetic for the guy and he has left with the respect of all Saints fans and his integrity wholly intact. Thanks Mark.

I must admit I do feel a little sorry for him, but as he still had a year's contract he will get paid off.

I agree.

I have nothing but complete and utter respect for the man. He's worked his socks off all summer looking at players, watching next seasons oppo and planning the pre-season preparations.

When he had an opportunity to leave us, he stuck around - and i will always be greatfull for that.

all the best wotte...

Feel very sorry for him, great dignity and loyalty was shown to Saints by Wotte. But I don't think he was the right man for the job long term. Good Luck to him in future ventures and I hope the Egypt based job is still open for him

wow didnt expect that

..but think its the right decision

I hope at least they offered him some type of role before showing him the door, he deserved that at least, and why give him a years contract and blow him out within a week? They must have someone lined up already, as this has happened at the speed of light.

Shame for him. Shame for us if it means no Saejis too. Hope they have someone decent lined up. More importantly, I hope they listen to existing staff about the current squad and players like Saejis. Will Svensson stay?

Shame for us??

Sure. Bloke with no experience who allowed us to sink like a stone and oversaw an approach that saw us win one game in 20 at home for the first half of the season.

Let's give him the freedom of the fecking city!!!!!!!!!!

Svensson to be the new manager!

Just said it on SSN (reports coming out of Southampton suggest....). Only just showed him shaking hands with Kelvin on his return to training this morning. I have to say I'm shocked and thought they had decided to keep him in the short-term. The Echo report doesn't suggest they've got anyone lined up, which makes the decision even stranger. Who's going to take training and prepare the squad for Bournemouth and Cheltenham?

Bye.

Totally agree. I think we owe him a lot, but there's no sentiment in football. I hope MW gets a good job elsewhere soon. Must have somebody in mind so close to the start of the season.

Can't help thinking this is potentially a bad thing for a number of reasons:

1) new season is nearly upon us and we've transferred one set of uncertainties for another

2) After Wotte has acted with real dignity this appears, at first glance, to be a real stab in the back

Quite. I don't quite get the gooeyness about Wotte.

In his position I would have "been loyal" to Saints as well - he's never going to get a better job anywhere else. Not that much of a self sacrifice.

Good luck in the Egyptian second division, Mark. Send us a postcard.

I'm loving how fast things are moving... Davis signed up, now Wotte removed. Great stuff.

Now for Steve Coppell or someone of his calibre... that'd make this a perfect week (esp if the Pompey deal falls through).

Maybe, i kind of feel like that.

but on the other hand, Wotte wasn't a great success here and if he was kept on it would be kind of ''under review''.

Makes sense for the new guys to try and find the guy they believe can be with us for the long term, no more of these short season jobs - he did say rapid changes...

Bloody hell. Not the best manager but I thought he'd be the right choice for a season since he at least knows the players and has been planning for the new season. I hope they've got someone lined up as we can't afford to miss any more of pre-season.

I guess it's back to F5ing again until we get a new guy in.

I've forgotten more about football than the bloke knows AND I haven't taken two clubs into adminstration. Christ, I'm more deserving of a pay-off than he is.

If this was the old days we would have given him cash in a briefcase and then arranged for him to be knocked over the head and mugged on the way home!!!

More good news for Saints.

Don't know why everyone feels sorry for him? He's done an average job and done well in his press conferences. It's sad for anyone to lose their job, but I'm sure he'll be picked up elsewhere. He was off set to work in Egypt t'other day!

Fully agree.

Can only be that the Swiss have already got someone lined up. Really hope it's not Shearer. Souness?

Mark, good luck to you. You behaved impeccably throughout all of this. You're a gent, but football is football, and I'm afraid we now have new ambitions and horizons.

I echo those sentiments.
