IamLeGod Posted 13 August, 2009 Share Posted 13 August, 2009 Solent reporting that Pardew believes that Rasiak will be leaving due to a bid from an unnamed club. Pardew also hoping to sign a player before the week-end. Shame about Rasiak but I suppose inevitable really! Have said before believe him and saga should go, we need players that are interested and want to be here which they clearly don't! Have also said before we should clearly sign David Beckham, he's unhappy at Galaxy and has said he's looking for a move back to Europe, if we can consider Poulsen and Campbell why shoul dwe not consider Becks? Looked class for England...
revolution saint Posted 13 August, 2009 Share Posted 13 August, 2009 Rasiak is a loss but if he doesn't want to be here then I don't want him either. The same goes for Saga but we'll need another striker as it's asking a lot to expect Lambert and patterson to play every game, remain injury free and maintain form. WealdSaint Posted 13 August, 2009 Share Posted 13 August, 2009 Polish mate in my office tells me that the manager of Poland has said that Rasiak & Saga will still be considered for Poland if they stay with Saints. However, I think one or both of them will be off
SuperMikey Posted 13 August, 2009 Share Posted 13 August, 2009 Shame about Rasiak, but I don't blame him for leaving after the way he was treated last season. I have a hunch that the 'unnamed club' could be Watford, because they've been showing interest in him for a long time. As Buzzin' Orn said, Will Hoskins CDAJFU, so maybe we could incorporate him into the deal somehow? What we really need is some pace up front, and Simeon Jackson is definately the guy for that. Whether Gillingham will let him leave to a league rival however, is another thing entirely.

doughnutman Posted 13 August, 2009 Share Posted 13 August, 2009 That simeon jackson i believe is destined for life outside of league 1, which is a shame as i believe he could do well. Our priority however is a pacey creative winger, a hulking beast of a center half y'know one that breathes fire, and a box to box midfielder I believe Tottenham were scouting him in their league cup game
Chez Posted 13 August, 2009 Share Posted 13 August, 2009 I believe Tottenham were scouting him in their league cup game funny how Gillingham leaked that information into the press. Can't help but add a few pennies to the price tag.
MerceSaint28 Posted 13 August, 2009 Share Posted 13 August, 2009 He would be a great signing. Would probably command about £1.5 mill, if we could stretch. I would personally be in favour of getting rid of the Polish chuckle brothers and getting in Jackson and Craddock. Dream scenario - Jackson Craddock Jaidi JP Saejis or Sodje (despite the fact he has a chronic knee injury, hence why nobody has touched him) CM??? RM??? Dream scenario - Jackson Craddock Jaidi JP Saejis or Sodje (despite the fact he has a chronic knee injury, hence why nobody has touched him) CM??? RM??? Chuckle brothers? Obviously didn't see Rasiak's performance when he come off the bench on Tuesday then. Anyway, as just posted on the 'JPS' thread, I'd love us to get both Jaidi & JPS which would sort us out at the back. Having Thomas & Jaidi as first choice with Perry & JPS as cover would give us 4 great options for CB at this level. Murty at RB with James as cover & Harding at LB with Mills as cover, defence sorted. In midfield need a right winger badly, Thomson has shown promise but probably not ready to be a starter just yet, can offer good cover though & James can play there too but he isn't an out & out winger. No names really been mentioned as a possible signing for this position tho. We seem to be well covered in CM, Lallana, Schnerderlin, Gillett & Wotton can all play there, a bit more quality than the later would be nice tho. Left mid we have Holmes, Mills & Gobern whilst Lallana also started there on Tues night so sorted there. The striker Craddock seems to be banging in the goals for Luton, would probably come here & not mind being back up either so bring him in. If we are to sell both Rasiak & Saga then Simeon Jackson would be an awesome signing to go alongside Lambert IMO, still i feel that atleast 1 of the Poles might stay so just Craddock in & we'll be fine for options up front. So in summary... IN: 2 CB's (Jaidi & JPS would be nice) RM DM with quality to replace Wotton ST (Craddock) Out: Lancashire Molyneux Saganowski Squad: Davis (Bialkowski, Forecast) Murty (James) - Jaidi (JPS) - Thomas (Perry) - Harding (Mills) ??? (Thomson) - Schnerderlin (Gillett) - Lallana (Wotton) - Holmes (Gobern) Lambert (Craddock) - Rasiak (Paterson) Edited 13 August, 2009 by saints_is_the_south
S-Clarke Posted 13 August, 2009 Share Posted 13 August, 2009 Heard earlier that we've accepted a bid for Greg as he's 'expressed'' an interest to go - not sure how true it is. I really hope he stays...rather him that Saga imo.
Red And White Barmy Army Posted 13 August, 2009 Share Posted 13 August, 2009 i don't think we need a new DM cos we have schneiderlan and wotton as back-up. I change my mind every day atm but now i really feel we have our CMs and LM sorted. I'm still reserving judgement about Thompson - if Pardew thinks he's good enough to be our regular RM then i think he will stay, but just being an OK back-up for Lloyd James won't be enough - Lloyd won't drive at the opposition defence and widen the play as much as we need to in this league (bearing in mind we're one of the best teams here we should be looking to use our wingers to run at defenders and use the width). 2 CBs is a must IMO. I think having Jaidi, Perry and Thomas as 3/4 of our CBs is very risky. They are all injury prone/old and we could easily face 6 or 7 games this season having to put lancashire in. JPS, Thomas, Perry and one other decent L1 CB would be my dream scenario. Up front, assuming we lose Rasiak and Saganowski, we need to replace both of these. Lambert should be our regular striker with Patto as his back-up. We need a regular 2nd striker and a back-up for him. In summary, 2 new CBs (inc JPS but not Jaidi), an attacking minded right winger and 2 new strikers, unless we hold on to Rasiak and Saga (Craddock and one other would be good). Anything short of 5 new players in the next 3 weeks and we will directly lose points as a result before January.

Saint Fan CaM Posted 13 August, 2009 Share Posted 13 August, 2009 I've said it before - I'll say it again. We need a decent strong, attack-minded, midfield general - a box to box type player to partner Schneiderlin and who can replace Wotton (who is nowhere near the level we need to get out of this division, let alone compete in the CCC). Add to that a good solid experienced CB and providing Rasiak stays then we're sorted. If Rasiak and Saga go then we need another striker - a Billy Sharp type player with some pace to run at defenders. So in short... AM ; CB ; ST .......done. Luxury signing - a left or right winger that can consistently get to the by-line. The tall black lad playing with Millwall on the left would be a great addition - he was fast and had good presence. Gorgiesaint Posted 13 August, 2009 Share Posted 13 August, 2009 Bobo Balde, hasnt been offered a contract at Wolves after being released from Celtic in the summer There's probably a very good reason for that - sorry L1 or not, Balde is an accident waiting to happen. He is quite possibly the clumsiest defender I have ever seen. He was only kept on at Celtic cos he refused to go anywhere else & sat on his £40-50k pw contract. They've been trying to get rid of him for at least 2 years.

chrisobee Posted 14 August, 2009 Share Posted 14 August, 2009 He'd be crap and lightweight in either position' date=' Chris.[/quote'] Not sure I agree with that, the few times I've seen him he looked pretty good and only last weekend Chelsea Reserves blew a 2 goal lead after he was substituted at half time and I believe he set up at least one of the goals. Might not mean a lot but other than Cork who it is apparently not coming the only other likely candidate I know of is Fabio Borini but he's more of a striker. What I mean is, having seen him last year in the CCC he was ropey - and I don't see that improving much even with us being a league lower. To be honest though until any player arrives and settles into the team who can really judge, so whoever it is (hopefully we are actually getting a Chelsea player after all this!)
