you have to register, but they sound pretty resigned to him leaving.

''Yes i agree Lisa but to a team in the Championship. Lambert is a lot better footballer than some people make out and definitely has the talent to make it in the Championship Cant really see why he would want to go to Southampton.''

It's because we are rich ;)

I guess we'll hear more about this tomorrow, i really hope it's true.

They don't seem too happy on the forum, hoping that they'd get more than 800k, think they're assured relegation now, can't believe he's gone to a team in our league...blah blah blah.

It's nice to be a buying club :D

Hopefully this rumour is true, because he's exactly what we need. We were crying out for a target man on Saturday, hopefully we can start scoring some goals now!

He would be perfect, proven in this league, big/strong and isn't too old to make it higher up.

Apparently flash has highlighted him as one to ''watch'' and ''get'' - he has a big dossier on this league and helped Pearson last season with their recruitment/match scouting. Wonder if he's helping us now on a full time basis?

Someone is slightly behind the times on their forum

There is talk of Southampton spending money. But i'm afraid this is a Walter Mitty story made up by a fisherman on Southampton harbour looking at each Red Funnel ship passing by. They are £35 million in debt and only just paid there wages in time last month. Now I thought the Hudds story was a joke but this beats the lot.

Chrisy Boy!

Was there a suggestion he was working for Saints now then ?

Any proof that Marcus Liebherr as paided the £ 30 million to Avivia for funding the ground ?.

or £ 5 million to Barcleys Bank

or £ 2 million to H.M customs

or £ 500,000 each time they went into administration

or £ The final bill for 3 months back dated wages for the players.

I know this German is rich but believe me an estimated £42 million debt isn't chicken's feed.

Another quote from the Rovers web site regarding Lambert , i tried to post a reply but it was blocked ?

I think you have to wait for the admin to personally approve all new accounts - which is pretty annoying tbh as that guy is spouting some inaccurate crap.

Where are you getting those figures from?? Even assuming they were in some sense accurate (though the 30 million still owed for SMS pretty certainly isn't), they are irrelevant. You see, such debts were owed by SLH, and Liebherr did not buy SLH and so assume its debts. Instead he bought SFC and SMS from the administrator for an agreed price (rumoured to have been in the 12-15 million range), and the administrator then wound up SLH, paying off the creditors a pro-rated percentage of what they were owed.

That's been gone over time and again on this forum and in the media, and I'm astonished that anyone still does not get it!

Liebherr got the club fairrly cheap, and can afford to spend a bit on players if he choses. Lambert and Craddock would do nicely to beghin with I'd say ...

Was reading the Beeb's review of the League One season and they picked out that 21 year old captain of Stockport as the player to watch for them. Centre back too! Hope our links with him are true, though bigger clubs are supposedly looking at him. Happy with links to Lambert too!

This Lambert thing better not be a load of bull............im ****ing myself with excitment!

Such pessimism, no doubt reasonable in view of past events !! However, this is the "new" Saints where most if not all is what it seems ! Who next I wonder, Craddock would be a good signing but there are plenty of good players available and I think it is fair to say we are in a better position than most League 1 teams to attract new players. Bah, who needs Bosman signings ;)

Sol Campbell apparently eyeing up interest from Notts County. We should be in there! Skate or no skate, he's got the power and experience to make his mark in a L1 defense. He should be ours if the possibility of dropping down a league or two isn't a problem. A real statement like Dave Watson & co back in THE day

Notts County have said this morning they won't - and they're not interested in him.

This may be a wild shout, but why not go in for him. He won't get 90k a week any more, the clubs that pay that don't want him.

Look - if my information is true - he lives in Sparsholt (Winchester village), so it's time for him to play for his local club.

What's our top salary? 15k? Offer him that. AP/NC do a good job in 'selling the dream' to players, so not try for Sol Campbell? They promised us surprising and exciting signings. This would surprise and excite!

Wouldn't excite me. We moan about players lacking pace and mobility in our side, but Campbell has all the agility of a combine harvester these days. Added to that he'd spent his whole career in the Prem, playing for teams like Arsenal. If he came he it would just be for wages and I doubt he would look remotely interested. It would be like Fowler and Hasslebaink at Cardiff.

I'd take scumball like a shot.

He is well passed his best as shown by the skates happiness to let him go, but he'd have no problem whatsoever at this level.

Having already earned millions you'd have to wonder why he would even want to drop down to the Championship though, never mind League 1 or 2. Never going to happen.

No doubt he's a good player and if he gave 100% then would be great for us but......would he be that committed? To be fair he's always looked like he's given everything in games I've seen so this is a more general "Is it worth spending a lot of money on players with good reputations in higher leagues but who will naturally see us as one last payday?"

There are bargains to be had that won't cost the earth and if they have the passion and ambition then maybe that's what we should be looking at? Take that Tom Craddock fella - decent education at 'Boro and must be desperate to prove himself - he could be the guy who people want to sign for seven figures in two years time. Oh, and I know they play in different positions - I was just using him as an example.

It seems to me that whoever we bring in has got to be part of a set-up that will be in place for some time to come. Sol Campbell has the best years behind him and IMO would not suit an up and coming team like ours at all. We need a "General" who could boss the midfield and direct play, someone like Jimmy Case - But a lot younger!!

Midfielder having medical tomorrow. Been told he is a Danish U21 international, or was. he's roughly 21/22. Don't know what club he's from or how much the fee is.

So on the basis of the other thread it would be Martin Christensen

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Martin_Christensen

He hasn't played much. Loaned out to Lyngby in January 2009 and played zero times. Played zero times for Charlton too. Certainly doesn't sound like a big signing.

Also worth noting that wiki has him down as a midfielder / striker, while soccerbase lists him as a defender:

http://www.soccerbase.com/players_details.sd?playerid=46589

Don't we already have a utility player that doesn't play much from Stoke? AKA Tony Pulis.

Im sure I read an article in the Mail a few months back about Christiansen being ready for the first team at Charlton but because of their financial problems they couldnt play him as it would mean they'd have to make a payment to his old club which could perhaps explain why he hasnt made any appearances for Charlton

has he played for them at all i any of their freindlies? If not then he clearly is not in their plans and will want to offload as they are struggling badly financially.

We should be looking at Simeon Jackson. This lad is a nippy goal scorer and has already opened his account with 4 goals in 2 games this season. He may cost a million or two but he would be an ideal partner for Lambert IMHO

I'm not sure if any of you caught the Ireland vs Australia game that was just on but there are a number of Aussie players who are not getting game time for their clubs.

One in particular I think we should look at is David Carney who has been completely frozen out at Sheffield United. He's currently on trial at Anderlecht but if that's not successful he's going to need find a team by the end of the transfer window. The players have basically been told if they don't get first team football they won't be in the WC squad.

He's a left sided attacking midfielder that has been successfully turned into a left back for the national team. Anybody who saw his strike from 30+ yards in the final minute of the game tonight had to be impressed.
