Have said it before and will say it again. Zak Whitbread is on the transfer list at Millwall by his own request and wants to leave. I know that ideally he's after a move to a Championship side but maybe Pardew could convince him that a move to St. Mary's would be good for his career now we have new found ambition. He was set to move to Peterborough a week or so ago, but that fell through due to his wage demands. I don't see this being a problem for us however, as we'd surely be able to equal the terms that he's currently on at Millwall, if not improve them. I can't see him costing too much either, and we're desperate for defensive reinforcements so we do need to spend a little bit of money in this area.

He put in a transfer request because he wants to play at a higher level. Peterborough aren't exactly cash strapped so he must be holding out for silly wages which we won't paying at this moment in time. Can't see it happening.

I think we should sign Ricky Lambert when rasiak goes which looks hidhly likely, as goes Saga and i thin we should get Simeon Jackson to replace him if he does leave too.

I think with then two and Paterson and White and maybe a loan from a Champ/Prem club that would be us sorted up front.

we will only have to sort out the back line then lol

Baird back on loan to play the holding midfield role and coverfor centreback. Prutton to add some bite in midfield and play on the right. Phil Ifil at right back.

Matt Holland is a possible fit midfield cover. Trundle on loan another.

Eastwood and Tyson to play upfront.

Murty for cover at right back.

very good shout but the failure to match Palace's contract offer to Stern John shows that we are not going to pay more than League1 market value which puts him out of our price range if the Posh can't match his demands. They are relative big spenders.

I'd like to see us match what the Posh did and spend big on a player like Boyd (best non league player out tere at thetime).

Robbie Savage ... what is he up to following his loan to Brighton, an experienced head in midfield if he can stay fit ....

He's back in Derby's first team, a key player for them this season says Nigel Clough.

Judging by the reception he got down at SMS last season I don't think he'd be a popular signing, but he would definitely be a good acquisition to the squad, if he wasn't now in Clough's plans.

Not seen Zak Whitbread play....Allegedly good and wanting bigger club/more money....

BUT with the current climate and Stuart Murdoch ex Milwall staff..he could be persuaded to join us and move up the leagues with us.....IF he is good enough and Murdoch has his ear.....You never know......plus a few others please......More prayers required.

Has anybody else rumours we are talking to Izale Mcleod?

Pardew signing but then he didn't play him (4 starts and 16 sub appearances) so you have to wonder if he has faith in the lad (admittedly there were othjer strikers available to him).

Some free transfers available (and according to wikipedia, not currently on trial anywhere) that might play League One football in the positions we need to fill or need depth...

Michael Mifsud,

Steve Kabba,

Leon Mckenzie,

Danny Mills,

David Noble (seen this guy play and was good, midfielder, 27)

Noe Pamarot,

Ricardo Rocha,

Antoine Sibierski,

Sam Sodje,

Moritz Volz,

Jermaine Wright

Dwight Yorke (currently training with Tranmere)

Zheng Zhi

Personally, Leon McKenzie, Sodje (although dont think he's drop down), and Anotine Sibierski (if we lose Rasiak) would be my preferences.

I would love to pair Sodje up with Jaidi. My Leeds mate said he was awesome for them at the back end of the season and in 10 games built up a real cult following.

The problem is however, he has dodgy knees and can't train (similar to Ledley King) this is why he hasn't been picked up. Obviously the last thing we need is another player with injuries. So how about the following pick ups

Jaidi free

Whitbread 500k

Volz free

McKenzie

Simeon Jackson 500k

Rickie Lambert - 1 mill

Centre Mid ????

Would still like to have Danny Webber and David Connelly up front, both who i beleive are without a club.

Players will start moving soon as they know they run the risk of being clubless, Julian Gray would be good too.

Just thought I'd c+p my entry on a diff forum when asked questions about your respective team for the various season - wondered what people thought/agreed/disagreed

Happy with players in? **** no, Dan Hardings a good championship left-back but he's been the one and only signing so far. We need players and fast, especially as Rasiak and Saganowski understandably want to leave. Its looking possible that we'll be signing Lee Trundle and Rahdi Jaidi too who would both make good additions and of course we've had Murty on trial for a few weeks, but he still hasn't signed. So far we've signed only one player to add to a squad that was deservedly relegated and has had several players leave to boot. We're in big trouble the way things stand.

Happy with players out? Again, **** no. McGoldrick, Euell, BWP and John have all headed off to pastures new leaving our forward line threadbare with only Saga and Rasiak available up front (neither of whom want to be here) Our only options are two kids Matt Paterson (who looks ok tbf) and Jamie White. In midfield we've lost Skacel and Surman from our left side and have lost Jan-Paul Saeijs who looked a great prospect at centre back.

All in all we're severely ****ed until we sign some players, the euphoria of the takeover and ejection of Lowe and then getting in the new manager has numbed the fact that our squad is hideously weak.

Where do you think you'll finish this season? A frustrating season at low mid-table threatens unless we get our **** together fast. However if we CAN convince Rasiak and Saga to stay, sign players like Jaidi, Murty and possibly Lee Trundle and hopefully get a good start under our belt , and really build our season up as a promotion push despite everything, then play-offs is a possibilty - i don't think we can really make a judgement till the halfway stage with our squad being in transition, as well as the -10.

Darren Byfield has just signed for Oldham on a free.

Think he was mentioned earlier in the thread. Thought he could have been decent for us - is proven at this level.

Damn, we miss out on Jamelia! We could always sign Will Haining and get Michelle Marsh! (Come to think of it, he's a CB, experienced, not too old and available on a free! Sign him up AP!) Then Marsh would be reunited with Lucy Pinder and we'd have a secksy St Mary's!

On the topic of Brentford, now they've added Kabba I think they've done very well this transfer window. Wouldn't be suprised if they were the team to do the successive promotions this season...

Hey, my names Matt, I work for Play Radio at St Marys stadium (the old radio Hampshire). I'm in charge of running the sport on a Saturday and Southampton Football Club are a part of what I'm aiming to do over the next season. It was mentioned to me that previously there used to be a sport phone in show so I got together with Bairdy and The Colonel and they agreed to record a weekly sport podcast with me. Download it FOR FREE by clicking the link below or by going to playradio.co.uk/podcast. We talk sport in general with a focus on local clubs like Southampton & Eastleigh.

Fingers crossed for the next season, good luck to The Saints and I hope you enjoy The Boot Room!

Saga 99% stay.He reject the offer from Greek side Larissa. That's from his website.

Saints ask for him 500.000 GBP.Now with new owner in place with no pressure to play for lower wages he will stay.

If he's committed to staying (albeit because he doesn't have to take a pay cut) and he really gets himself motivated, this could be excellent news. Might also explain why there's been no real news about us trying to buy a striker.

If he puts some real heart into his performances then I'd welcome him staying but so far I think he's really underperformed for us.

If they roll their sleeves up Raz + Saga could go through this division like a knife through butter.

We should get Noble' date=' Webber will end up at Palace imo.[/quote']

Don't think Palace can sign people anymore.

Crystal Palace have been banned from signing players due to a dispute over unpaid bonuses and signing-on fees from last season.

Palace have been hit with the embargo from the Football League, which comes as a huge embarrassment for Neil Warnock’s team as they prepare for the launch of the new Championship season.

Warnock’s side are due to complete their pre-season programme tonight against non-League Whyteleafe and start their League campaign on Saturday against Plymouth at Selhurst Park.

Jordan said: ‘This summer has been difficult for Palace and therefore for me. We had a poor season and attendances were down. I have stepped in to bankroll the club to the tune of £5million between May 20 and July 31.

‘I don’t have a board of investors pumping money in. Most clubs would have gone into

administration but ours hasn’t because I stood up and made payments to hold the squad together.

‘Most Palace fans will find it perplexing having finished 15th, but there are bonuses due and severance payments outstanding to ex-players. This doesn’t apply to the existing squad. Everyone at the club has been paid.’

John Oster, James Scowcroft, Paul Ifill and Shefki Kuqi are among those understood to be owed money.

Jordan claimed the embargo was not a direct result of the missing payments and that it would have no impact his transfer policy with Darren Ambrose, Stern John and Freddie Sears added to the squad.
