Been reading about this Seb Carole lad on the Sky Sports free transfer page, looks a decent option, apparantly a nippy winger ?? Any thoughts ?? Anyone know what he is like ?? Maybe worth a trial IMO, either him or that Cambel-Ryce.

Seb Carole

We had him on trial in the 05/06 pre-season. Redknapp turned him down and he went to Brighton.

I'd love Henri Camara, Alex Pearce, Alan Bennett, Sam Sodje, Jerome Thomas, Ricky Lambert, Billy Sharp...In fact most of the names mentioned on here are good!

I really hope (and expect, after the last few sentences in the OS Stern John article) to hear something good in the next few days!

No thanks.

Yes to the others, although I think Camara and Thomas may be out of our reach, especially as Hull are desperate to sign anyone so long as they fit into a pair of football boots!

Anyone with knowledge of Mathews at Salisbury? caused Saints problems as a big lump...Last night scored 3 in a 3-1 win against Exeter....Only pre season friendlies but sounds like he could be a handful and scores goals....Write up in Exeter paper against strong Exeter side.....Not seen him play myself...

Robbie Mathews?

I still think we might just be able to keep Rasiak, think Saga will go though.

If money is available then we should make a bid for Ricky Lambert & Billy Sharp.

I see Peteborough are after Zak Whitbread from Millwall, he'd be a great signing at CB.

Is this the bloke who used to play for Eastleigh?

If so he was highly rated at one time and earmarked for a trial with Saints during WGS time.

He had a trial at Bristol Rovers but nothing came of it.We assumed because of offers at Saints but WGS left and it appeared that the player had fallen off the radar altogether.

To score 3 against Saints and Exeter and cause all sorts of problems, suggests this lad is no mug...I will be very surprised if Tisdale is not inviting him down to train...Pure guess....UNLESS there is something else missing like..background, attitude, etc etc..I am sure someone knows more..

Many big lumbering strikers have been picked up from lower/non league and made a career , especially at our level.....Horsfield, Parkin x two etc etc..

Just a thought, as he scored two lots of hatricks and sounded more than a hanfful from reports......Exeter have McALLISTER in this role....Saints need this type....IF he is good enough...

I don't think he's that young and he's not fast or mobile enough for League one. Good consistent striker at the level he's at though.

Cheers, Sid....Maybe he is on a good streak in these pre season friendlies...To be fair he has still done very well in these two games...Hope he continues to do well as Salisbury need everything they can get at the mo.

Personally I had no recollection of seeing him play and thought he might be a longshot as the reports described him as a big lump causing lots of problems.

Parkin, Howard and the like often described in the same vain....Let us hope that

Pardew has his own strikers at the ready soon...otherwise it may be Raz, Saga and Pat etc.

if weve got 300k to spend my mate reuben reid has told me he would move to saints as he is a bristol lad so the distance for him to go back and forward for family isnt so far. be a good buy personally for this level

How about Josh Thompson to fill the vacent centre back position. 18 years old and 6"4 and interesting Premiership clubs. They unlike us won't be able to offer first team football.

This is exactly the sort of player we should be busting a gut to sign IMO.

£250,000 is the rumoured price.

I've decided that signings are like Heroin. We're all waiting impatiently for the next hit! I see Peterborough couldn't afford Zak Whitbread's wages. Can we?

Posted

Why only 300k to spend? surely we can splash as much cash around as we Herr Liebherr likes?

Anyone know what his weekly wage limit for one player would be roughly? I wouldn't expect him to be willing to pay more than 12 a week for any one player although I heard Rasiaks on 15 yet hopefully won't be sold - anyone ITK/can make a genuinely educated better guess than mine?

Vincent Pericard is on a free...

...ahem, I'll just, err, get me coat.

If he is free and we could get him on a pay as play he MAY be ok. But lets try other options first.

David Connolly anyone?

I would agree with someone like Connolly or Eastwood, Fleetwood, Macken up front.

Coppinger from Doncaster for Right Mid field attacker. Would supply Rasiak or any replacement striker so much and score a few himself.

Nicky Bailey from Charlton midfield and Hoolahan for Left side from Norwich.

And i suppose you carry ML's check book do you ??

Just a bit of fun.......Football clubs do not listen to the great demands of the fans.....We all secretly want Ronaldo and Messi....Two better centre backs you will never see.

both player of the season for their respective clubs and excellent potential signings, but why on earth would either club sell them to a rival League 1 side, and just as importantly why would either player - having shown they could do the business in the CCC - want a horizontal move?

he's that rich he can employ someone to carry his cheque book?

Because we is The Mighty Saints and we are on the way back to the big league.....Then again maybe not.....As usual Chez..you is the top man.;)

Any players at Eastleigh or Dorchester worth chasing?....Mathews at Salisbury.:D.....I agree..ottery get some perspective For crying out loud....Sorry Chez.

Sometimes players see potential/money and want to be part of the rise to greater things..At least I didn't mention Rooney or Gerrard.

`Charlton need the money' should have been your response!

OR Parkinson is still a great Saints fan and a friend of Pards and will do us a big favour.:smt060

Norwich have just signed 12 players and when they train at Exeter I will kidnap Hoolahan and put him on the wing disguised as Holmes.:D

Messi and Ronaldo will need more planning.

he will only cost 300k, not that we only have 300k to spend!

he did have his differences in the past but 19goals in league 2 last season with rotherham wasnt a bad return, still young, and derby have shown an interest too! definately better than paterson imo.

Jonjo Shelvey

Danny Webber

Lambert

Jonathon Fortune

Freddy Eastwood

Nathan Tyson

Moritz Voltz

Julian Gray

Just any old signing would make me happy right now

Shelvey is talked in terms of £3m. That is not an `any old' signing. Again why would he leave Charlton for us?

Webber is a good choice. Tyson could get a CCC move if you ask me. Gray is tosh.

Perhaps, but what an ambitious signing it would be ?? We can assure him 1st team football, we have done well with bringing up youth so thats a bonus, Charlton are firmly in the poo at the moment. I am clutching with this one but pardew ?? He may have had dealings.

As for webber, i would love.

Tyson, why not make enquiries, not heard anything regarding him.

And gray, he would prob DAJ at this level. Though i think the harding/fish connection could do well, and Holmes if fit.

yeah but they now have adebola, DMG, blackstock

their manager has said several times that he wants 7 attakers. If Tyson goes it will be to another CCC side.

Have said it before and will say it again. Zak Whitbread is on the transfer list at Millwall by his own request and wants to leave. I know that ideally he's after a move to a Championship side but maybe Pardew could convince him that a move to St. Mary's would be good for his career now we have new found ambition. He was set to move to Peterborough a week or so ago, but that fell through due to his wage demands. I don't see this being a problem for us however, as we'd surely be able to equal the terms that he's currently on at Millwall, if not improve them. I can't see him costing too much either, and we're desperate for defensive reinforcements so we do need to spend a little bit of money in this area.
