saint-crinny Posted 19 July, 2009 Share Posted 19 July, 2009 Seen a lot if Aldershot in last two seasons as they got promoted from Blue Sq Prem to League 2. Kirk Hudson is a pacy winger/striker with good eye for goal and would be cheap - they are desperate for money. They have also had Scott Davies - central midfielder - on loan from Reading for both seasons. Scored a load of goals in BSP and got another 15 last season in League 2. Good value for a few screamers. Back at Reading now but not quite good enough to start for them and I think they will be looking to loan him out again - probably to a League 1 club this time - and we are obviously local. Not that either would DAJFU at the moment. Whats Darren Moore doing these days anyone because HCDAJFU? Think he's playing for Barnsley in the CCC. Unlikely to drop down a division. Agree he would be a great signing for us though. Why do people mention the likes of Camara? I'm not sure he would even consider the Championship, let alone league 1! A bit more realism needed perhaps.

MerceSaint28 Posted 20 July, 2009 Share Posted 20 July, 2009 Yeah we really need to make some moves pretty soon. Without sounding like a small impatient child and with 2 weeks until the season starts, Pards needs to get a detailed analysis from Henderson about what we need and get cracking this week. Really we need to be signing the best players available and look to mesh them into the team. For a start our squad is thread bare and trying to play a 46 game season, plus 3 cups on top requires serious squad depth. Providing Euell and John sign, this would feel like 2 new signings. We really lack any influential players in the team, leaders are needed. I feel a player like Graham Kavanagh would be good to bring some steel into the team and allow players like Schneiderlin to play. We also lack creation from the middle of the park, Quashie would be very good but i feel he will want a championship club. Obviously competition on the wings is a must as Thomson is not yet strong enough and may be worth another loan at Bournemouth and Holmes is very injury prone. We could also do with boosting our attack and getting in some steel at the back, here are some suggestions Centre back - Sam Sodje free Patrick Kisnorbo free Godwin Antwi free Zak Whitbread 250k Jack Hobbs loan Right back - Phil Ifil 250k Graham Murty free Left back - Dan Harding free Michael Ball free Rene Steer free Matt Richards Centre Midfield - Amaury Bischoff free Graham Kavanagh 100k Nigel Quashie loan Matthew Holland free Claus Jorgenson free Right Midfield - Paul Ifill free John Oster free Striker - James Scowcroft free Rui Fonte free David Connelly free Collins John free Steve Kabba free Leroy Lita free Michael Mifsud free Stefan Moore free Vincent Pericard free Sibierski free Lambert £1mill Siemeon Jackson - £500k Just goes to show the talent available on free's. We could get our squad together by paying absolutely nothing. I think there are some very realistic targets there and more importantly better than what we already have. Thoughts people ??? Alanh Posted 20 July, 2009 Share Posted 20 July, 2009 I'm not convinced that we want Euell at all. He could not control a ball to save his life last year and just because he is playing in a divison lower this season I doubt he will have improved that aspect of his game. I think we need either Stern or Rasiak, not both, so signing him depends on whether we sell Rasiak or not. We certainly need pace up front so I'd go for someone like Lita if he would drop to L1 and we can afford his wages. Steve Kabba might even be a decent option but I don't know how old he is or if he has any pace now. I think we are OK on the right wing with James being my first choice, but agree we need a left sided player to be first choice ahead of Holmes. We definitely need back up for central defence if Thomas and Perry are first choice. It is odds on that Thomas won't get to the end of August before he misses a game through injury. WATERSIDEIFASAINT Posted 20 July, 2009 Share Posted 20 July, 2009 Have any of the free transfer forwards got any pace? That is what we seriously need upfront assuming we keep John,Patterson and maybe Saga.I would personally bring in Lambert and Connelly upfront if we can't get Lita which I think is very unlikely as Sheff Unt fans think he is signing for them. Kandol,Varney,Gray & Mcleod have all been bought by Pardew and one of them could easily be a target?Varney scored loads of goals for Crewe at this level and is not getting in the Derby team.Maybe worth a look at. We need a very nippy winger who can actually cross a ball(premiership loan maybe) and a central midfielder who can control the game. Also a right back and commanding central defender. 4/5 signings and keeping Murty,Mills and John and we should have a team capable of reaching the play offs. We could then add loans if Lallana,Schneiderlin,Holmes etc don't regain their confidence and start proving themselves or if we get crucial injuries

saintsmike25 Posted 20 July, 2009 Share Posted 20 July, 2009 I was reading up on Glenn Hoddles academy and they seem to be beating good division two sides & the occasional La Liga side. Surely if we could get a scout look at one or two of these players they'd be able to play in this league. With the added assurance they've been working hard at the technical side of their game at the academy and training non-stop. Recently a few of the players have been snapped up by Spanish sides and the work is paying off. I've heard good things about James Simmonds and Michael Noone. Based on that I think we still need a decent big CB, a fast RW, a tough CAM and another proven experienced striker (i.e. with 15 goals in him). That's only 4 more players and many could be free per above list. Midfield positions are probably the most important though as without service the strikers will all struggle. Out of that lot, one of the keepers is probably off. James is more likely to feature in midfield (where he should be) but I'd anticipate Pulis and Molyneux are going and White will probably be loaned out again to gain sharpness after that nasty injury last term. Saga may be off as well.

saints_is_the_south Posted 21 July, 2009 Share Posted 21 July, 2009 (edited) The rumour about Max Gradel on 606 is probably BS but he'd be a great signing, just what we need for right wing. If we could get him then we could line up something like this: ---------------------------------Davis (Poke)------------------------- James (Murty)----Thomas (Lancashire)----Whitbread (Perry)---Harding (Mills) Gradel (Thomson)---Lallana (Schneiderlin)---Gillett (Wotton)---Holmes (?) --------------------Rasiak (Paterson)-------Saganowski (John)--------- So sign Gradel & we'd still need imo a left winger to compete with Holmes & a center back, if we can get rid of Lancashire then we can get 2 CB's in. Also if Saga goes then another ST. I see Zak Whitbread from Millwall is available, he'd be a very good signing at CB. Can play full back or in the middle. He played against Steve Fletcher against Bournemouth as centre half and blotted him out of the game so much they had to take Fletcher off.Now in this league we will need players who can cope against big men.He is not of massive build but reminds me of Paul parker, quick , athletic and a spring in his jump, add to that he is comfortable on the ball.i do know he turned down a PL side as he wanted first team football at this stage in his career. If any club scouts do ever read this he may well be worht a look.
