Think if we manage to get the want-away Rasiak and Saga off the wage bill before the transfer window closes we should look at buying or loaning Joe Garner from Forest. With all their strikers (DMG, Earnshaw, Adebola, Dexter, Tyson) I can't see him getting much of a look in, and has looked good when I have seen him (great goal against us I remember) and had a very decent record for Carlisle at this level.

Would be a good shout IMO!

I can't believe that Moritz Volz hasn't been signed by anyone. He is training with Fulham at the moment but is a free agent. He would be ideal to me as our right sided midfielder, good going forwarded and getting crosses in and would also know how to support Murty defensively.

If we signed him and Jonathan Fortune I would feel we would have the squad to help us move up the table and would satisfy me until January.

.

My suspicion is that he has there is either a perceived ,or actual, problem with his ego ie thinks he warrants a higher £ than his skill level.

Personally I think he would be a good addition, frequently take the place of the ageing and injury prone Murty as much as to work with him on the right.

I don't disagree with your suggestion, but I heard him on BBC Radio 5 Live the week before the Football league season kicked off and he came across as a very articulate, modest, pleasant guy.

From that I would have assumed he was not egotistical like many players, and would have been prepared to drop down to League 1 just to get games.

It would appear that he is training with Fulham at the moment to GAIN fitness, so maybe he has had an injury problem that clubs are waiting to see if he recovers from before looking at signing him.

I too heard that and agree with your conclusion about him,but as I say in my original post the 'problem' may be perceived rather than actual.

Wasn't he a column writer in a broadsheet,or had a blog which gave him an element of "status",perhaps enhancing the fear about his ego etc ?

Go back to my conclusion on it though,he would be a good addition in my view.

Interesting quote from AP at the foot of the OS article.

"Across the whole country there will be a lot of movement over the next seven days and we have to make sure that we'll right on the button so that we don't lose a player to another Division One club or Championship side."

Maybe he should have added Notts County to that? But it seems we're prepared to outbid CCC clubs, going by that statement.

Notts County found a loophole with regards to

Campbell and the wage cap - SSN seems to think that you can break the wage cap in League Two IF the wages are given as part of a donation from a wealthy benefactor. Which means, I think, if the rich bloke pulls ouf of Notts County before Campbell's contract expires, they're fooked.

In terms of our club, I'm looking forward to deadline day next Tuesday. We sure as hell better sign someone that day as I'll be glued to SSN ALL DAY! ( until 5pm when the window closes...)

Can't believe Notts County have given a 34 year old a 5 year contract.Absolutely crazy by them and one I'm sure they will end up regretting.Delighted we didn't sign Campbell if he wanted a 5 year deal

i think the five year deal is a way to get round the wage cap. I bet he will retire in a couple of years but will still be paid contract

Sounds about right. On the BBC website he is quoted as saying "I will play for three years and then we'll see what happens." (or words to that effect) Struck me as strange, why sign a 5 year contract when you're only planning on playing for 3.

Jeffers transfer-listed by Owls

Sheffield Wednesday manager Brian Laws has placed former England striker Francis Jeffers on the transfer list.

Jeffers, 29, was sent off for a head-butt during his side's 2-0 Carling Cup defeat by Port Vale on Tuesday.

Laws told the club website: "His conduct was totally unacceptable and something this club will not tolerate.

"We have therefore enforced the heaviest punishment available with immediate effect and transfer listed the player."

Even in League One?

Even in League 1. I remember watching him at Everton almost 10 years to the day as he ripped us apart in a 4-1 defeat at Goodison and he is still only 29 but has done nothing for many years except draw a wage. I know a couple of Sheff Wed fans and he is regarded as being an injury prone waste of space and Saints have had enough of those in the last 3 years already.

After seeing what Notts Country have done with the contract offer to Campbell at 34 years old, I can't see why Saints now can't offer a decent and attractive contract to 32 year old Henri Camara. He's just the type of player who can turn things round for us operating out on either wings and linking up with our other strikers. What the hell is holding us back for such signings?

We're not stupid like Notts County. While I don't know the terms of the deal, his contract must be for a hell of a lot of money for anyone outside the Premiership, and as such, if their rich owner pulls out of the team next summer, they have a 36 year old with a very expensive 4 year contract to do something with.

Granted, it'd be nice to bring in one or two high profile names, but they come at a cost and, quite frequently, aren't willing to put in 100% for their wages.

Notts County: a disaster waiting to happen IMHO

IMHO Camara would not be a good bet in this league. When he played for us you needed an extra man to cover his complete lack of defensive responsibility. He seemed to flatly refuse to come back over the halfway line. Great going forward against Everton, great goal against Norwich and Brum, but a luxury that we cannot afford in L1. I remember Le Saux being exasperated with him when he tracked somebody back to the halfway line then just stopped and let him carry on, leaving Le Saux to deal with a 2 on 1....plus the way he has refused to play for teams he has helped relegate doesn't say much for his attitude.....sorry, rambling now.
