Danny gabbidon? Now this must be a joke. On his day i rate him as one of the best centre backs in the league. However he is very injury prone. Maybe him and sir alan pardew have links! I wish!

Who signed him for West Ham ?

Someone wrote on the echo forum that Saints will buy this bloke for £2mill

http://www.whufc.com/page/PlayerProfilesDetail/0,,12562~10126,00.html

Only a rumour but still worth posting ?

He may potential be 5th or 6th in the pecking order for CBs at West Ham this year, seeing their squad, but it would still be a massive coup if we signed him ahead of some lower Prem or CCC clubs.

This really would show intent and lift the bar for the rest of the squad!

Can't see it though......

Can't start a new thread so I shall post this here. We've signed a young chelsea midfield on loan.

No idea who. It's not Cork. We'll find out tomorrow. Maybe Liam Bridcutt who I believe was on loan at Watford last season. He would be my guess. But like I said, i'm not actually sure.

I'm ITK. And we shall find out more tomorrow.

Well done, nice to have a few posts re potential signings that do have substance !

Saints boss Alan Pardew to swoop for want away Colchester midfielder Johnie Jackson - The People

Good player! He was influential for colchester last year - hasn't played yet this year though (i guess he's injured/ or wants out ??)

Goal scoring/attacking midfielder who knows this league = perfect.

heard from two seperate people (one from liverpool and the other from down here) that lee carsley is on his way to us.

Great signing IF true

Exactly what we need the league game at SMS last season he was immense just sat in front of their deence all match long. Saw him play a few times for Everton and he was always excellent for them too. If true would be great hopefully

Skacel and Pele are still unattached. We could do with them in our midfield right now. ;)

Skacel remains unattached because he never performed at Saints.. and for that his punishment is oblivion.. if he had performed someone would have snatched him up ages ago. He clearly is one of the least effective signings we have had (and boy have we had a few...discussed on a previous thread many years ago). Got what he deserved?

All I'm gonna say is, Rasiak scored 15 goals by Christmas with Skacel on the wing. :-k

Are the two people connected to football in anyway?

Seems odd, maybe we ''tried'' to get him..and were told to jog on? He played quite well for brum today tbf.

Could this add weight as a possibility?

Lambert said: “I have always wanted Johnnie (Jackson) to stay and give it a go at Colchester, but his agent came to me and said that he wanted to leave.

“That's his choice, not mine. Johnnie has said that he wants to play in central midfield, but I can't guarantee him a place in that position.

I find it bizzare that Jackson is not guaranteed football at Colchester? He was their player of the season in the championship.......and wasn't too bad for them last season either.

Something else must have gone on behind the scenes, he's good enough to start in most teams in this league. Still - i hope we can benefit from that

Not knowing much about Colchester I wondered that perhaps he may often played out of position?

Don't know if I'm reading more into Lamberts comment but maybe Jackson doesn't want to play out of position where he doesn't feel as comfortable knowing himself he he is far better in a CM position?

I'd take Pele over any of our defenders and any of our defensive midfielders.

Skacel is better than Holmes - our only left midfielder. Simple.

Centre backs are what we need though. Two of them immediately. A big bloke to win headers and a fast big bloke to win headers and to mark the fast strikers.

Yes, and are we not richer than Notts C?

Moot point ...... what I am saying is, the owners of Notts County Will throw money at getting them Promoted to the Prem ....... I think they are more High Profile than Markus

I'm not saying theirs is the best way .... they are going for the Quick Fix scenario

After all that we have been through, I prefer the "Slow but Sure" method ...but it is , nevertheless very frustrating, because I firmly believe that if we had had another Two additions to the squad by now, we WOULD have been in with a shout of the play offs

The major downside is the -10 ( now -9) ........ A lot of Quality Div 1 players WILL be put off by that ... Big Time ..... which is the major Legacy of The Pinnacle SHAM ... or was it SKAM ????

So lets be optimistic and realistic on new signings. On a positive spin, the loss has highlighted our weaknesses which is good in the long run.

Off the back of that i still feel we need

2 centre halves

1 centre Mid

2 strikers assuming at least one of the Poish chuckle brothers leave

so how is this

Jaidi - free, assuming work permit comes in otherwise Sodje

JPS - Free

J.Jackson - 250k

RM ???

Craddock - 250k

B.Sharp - 850k

Six players, do we have time??

One defeat and thats it? Season over? No chance of the play offs?

**** me. The expectations are unreal on this board. People seriously thinking that one defeat to the favourites of the league with one of the best players in the league scoring twice against us means its over and we are in a relegation battle.

they are taking it slowly and methodically!! That might speed up now!

Don't be silly.

The owner is Swiss. You ever seen a Swiss watch suddenly speed up? Only if it was 1) a cheap fake or 2) busted

I AGREE we need major surgery to the squad. But if anyone ever read that story of the bloke who lost both hands having a transplant - the surgery was months ago, but it will be a year before anything works properly

So it won't ALL happen in the next 10 days, and it will depend on who is actually available, wants to come AND will fit in with the style AP wants to play and the remainder of the squad.

It's reality peeps, not a computer game

Far from it ...... If you are honest with yourself, and especially if you are a Neutral .... there is no way you would say Saints are anywhere near ready to mount a Promotion push ... that is the Reality of our situation

That does NOT mean I am not a Supporter .... it means I realise that after all the Kr*p we've put up with for the last Twelve years ..... our rise back to where we belong is going to take TIME ...... ie the FIVE YEAR PLAN

PS ... where did I mention a Relegation battle ????

Hi just looked at the above its says

On the 8th June 2009, Icelandic CB Holding which is 70% owned by Straumur-Burdaras bank and 30% owned by Icelandic based banks Byr and MP[55] took over Hansa Holding, which only had West Ham United as their asset and filed for bankruptcy protection. Straumur was one of Hansa Holding's largest creditors. Straumur appointed one of their directors, Andrew Bernhardt, as the new chairman.

Is that their holding co. going into admin?? Be interesting to see what the Prem do with them !!!

You said that if we had had 2 more signings by this point we would have been in with a play off contention. Why has one defeat moved us away from play off contention? Why if we get 2 new players now are we still out of play off contention?

One defeat does not stop us from fighting for the play offs this season. Maybe expectations is not the word I was looking for, but you are suggesting that we are out of contention for the play offs when infact we are not. It is way to early for that.

We are going to get beat this season, the over reaction on this board is unreal. Over reaction. Thats the word I should have used, not expectation.

Where the signing of Jaidi is concerned we don't need to be in any hurry. Ramadan starts this week for a month and he'll be of no use till it's over in 1 months time. Frees can be signed at any time even out of the transfer window.

I accept your view, but we do have to act a bit quicker than you are suggesting for 2 reasons - we're on -9 and need to start winning matches plus the window closes in 2 weeks time. Would you be as happy if this squad has not been significantly strengthened? I believe it will be - and pretty quickly.

This Swiss watch analogy is strange it has nothing to do with winning football matches does it? The approach you are suggesting would make more sense if we were trying to improve a good side but we are a poor side in need of major strengthening in my opinion. I might add that the 4 new signings are very encouraging! More of the same I say!

OK, putting it bluntly .... as at Today .... I do not think our Squad is Strong enough to mount a Promotion push .... simple as that ... do YOU honestly believe we can, with the players we currently have, bearing in mind we have two Poles who don't want to be here ???

Of course one defeat doesn't stop us "fighting for the play offs" .... but please don't try to tell me that AP has anything like a strong enough Team to do it .........He needs to replace, he will replace ..... which takes TIME

IMHO, by the time he gets another two players, we will be circa 18 points from sixth ........ THAT would be a BIG ask for any team

I don't think I am "over reacting" .... I think I'm being REALISTIC ...... it does NOT however mean I am any LESS a Supporter though ....... I WANT us to win the FA Cup this season ... REALITY tells me we won't

You have to realise and accept our current LIMITATIONS
