Haven't been his biggest fan in the past, though he was awful at times in the Champ and Prem....But have to say that is a hell of a coup. He was easily the player of the year last year.

but nich said he had signed for West Ham, it is not like him to be wrong! ;)

Seriously though the news get's better and better, Kelvin has done the club proud.

Great news, as it must have been a temptation to go to a Premiership team and earn much more than he did here. But perhaps he has a nice house down here, family and children settled with friends and he has made a decision based on the quality of life he has in this area.

He quite likely remembers clearly the derision he got at Sunderland in the Premiership, when things hadn't gone well for him with a very leaky defence in front of him, but despite some stick early on when he came here, he worked hard and proved the doubters wrong. As a result, he has become a bit of a cult hero to us and this decision is likely to enhance that reputation.

Ultimately, he might have decided that he gets paid enough to be comfortable financially and likes it down here. He obviously enjoys his football and might have considered that he would prefer to play every game here rather than warming the bench as the reserve keeper. With our new owner, exciting times are ahead and he might yet enjoy the ride back up to the Premiership over the next three or four years.

A big thanks, anyway, Kelvin

Thats a statement of intent as I'm betting he didn't come cheap, would love to see Stern put pen to paper in the next day or two and really want to see young fish signed up.

Fantastic news. Read what he says about holding himself responsible for our position. Total, total respect to the guy.

Yes indeed, well said. Good man. We need more players with that sense of responsibility.

where did he go..?

Don't think he's gone anywhere. His contract is up, but as far as I'm aware he hasn't joined anyone else. I'd be happy for him to sign a new deal.

You Fecking Star

Fantastic news and just proves yet another b*llsh*tter adding to the rumours about Davis going to West Ham, some claiming he was at the Totton game when he's not been in attendance, etc.

Brilliant news. I can't cope with this and wonder how other Saints fan may struggle with this bizarre shift of fortune. That's more good news in 2 days than we've had in the last 10-15 years!

Great news that KD has signed.

But ... Davis, Bialkowski, Foreacast, Poke ... we can't keep 4 goalkeepers. One will have to be moved on. But which one?

Forecast for me, although i doubt Bialkowski will want to play 2nd fiddle in L1 so it may be him that leaves.

Excellent, I think this will be key for getting a good defense together this season. I think he's matured into a great team player and as keepers can play on into their 40s he can become the core for our return to the Premiership!!! Any news on JPS???

West Ham target another keeper

Zola has wasted little time in inquiring about a cover keeper for Robert Green, now that his first choice Kelvin Davis has snubbed West Ham.

Zola, desperate to get a number 2 keeper for his England No1 will try to persuade Portsmouth's aging David James to return to the club where he had success in the past.

I understand that James is signing for them now.

He has been there since 10 am, but Zola's attempts to sign Calamity has hit a major sticking point.

James has dropped the pen 14 times..

he is my new favourite player...

I had my doubts when he first signed but lasy season he was a star

easily the best keeper in league 1...by a long long way

+1. I too wasn't his biggest fan in his first season and tbf he did have quite a number of ropey games - but I would blame that more on Burley for not dropping him and giving Bart a go earlier when he was on form. But easily our best player for probably the last two seasons, not just last. Well done Kelvin - you've certainly won me over, and especially for your loyalty. Fair play to you sir :)

Yesterday was Christmas Day, today is Boxing day and your favourite Auntie has just popped in with another great present.

Thank you Kelvin (and whoever had a word in your ear)

Good post,I agree.

It's unbeleivable he wants to stay, I doubt anyone would have begrudged him a move to the Prem, especially as he had been training at WHU.

So for him to stay is just fantastic. Probably player of the season already.
