fantastic news that KD is staying......great to see that there are some players that put their own happiness and loyalty to us before cash!!!!....:smt023

when it was reported that Kelvin was going i really did think that that was a signal that Saints were dying.....seeing this today just makes me realise that we are at the dawn of a bright new era for our great club...........COYFR!!!!!!!!! :smt041

Great news

Top bloke

That's proper loyalty

Let's hope he has a word with young Adam Lallana about looking to the long term and not the next 5 minutes!

I look forward to Kelvin rising majestically like a gazzelle on the African plains to take crosses in League 1.........although perhaps that's asking for miracles on top of loyalty :-)

With Kelvin staying does this mean the player of the year hoodoo has finally gone. (in other words there isn't a year that has gone that I remember our player of the season still being here after his award for a very long time). Infact can someone remeber the last winner to stay?

Not for the first time, I'll form a minority of 1.

Nice bloke, but very dodgy keeper (even last season, when he was much better than in the previous couple of years).

I'm very unexcited by his re-signing.

Blimey mate. Did you go to any games last season? Yes he was a bit dodgy when he first came , but once he got his confidence back he got better and better, and last season it was only his keeping that stopped us being completely humiliated, let alone relegated.

K.

Loyalty is priceless - Kelvin you have our utmost respect. Herr Liebherr obviously undersatnds somethings about our club a lot better in 5 minutes in charge than others who had years... Brilliant news.

To those 'unexited by his resigning - please remember what divison we are in FFS - We are NOT going to attract World class players - but keeping hold of a very good and loyaly commiteed and experienced keeper is a bloody good thing and sends a very strong and positive message to staff and players alike. Kelin may not be a World Class Keeper, but his attitude is certainly FIRST class - top man

Thank you Kelvin for your amazing loyalty. You have set a wonderful example to all the younger players that money isn't everything. The fact that we have kept our player of the season and club captain shows a huge intent and I would like to thank Markus for more brilliant news. I am so happy right now. :)

Sums it up for me TBH.

Great news. Now if we can keep John and Rasiak (they would destroy defences in this league), get 1 or maybe 2 combative midfielders for a bit of steel in the middle and a good battling centre half then I think we'll have a shout at the playoffs.

Now that our financial situation has dramatically changed I wonder if we won't be seeing more wavering players stay, just a shame it came too late for Surman and Dave McG but thats life I guess.

I've just heard this news this news this morning and I am really, really touched that a player who is without a doubt too good for this division, would show so much loyalty to the club.

If there is anybody on this site who doubts what a massive show of commitment this is, they should ask themselves if they'd be willing to make the same sacrifices.

We are a 3rd division club starting on minus 10 points, the players have not been paid on time for the past two months.

I'm sure KD was being offered more money to play for a premiership team, even if he was not going to be first choice, he would be getting more money for doing less (footballers are no different from the rest of us)

Well done Kelvin. YOU have restored my faith in the spirit of Southampton.

Great news and sends a first positive message out from the new regime. It could cost £2-3m to replace him so it is like getting a high quality free transfer. Hopefully Lallana will take the mature option and develop his game with us and hopefully some good players coming in as well.

Might have had something do with him openly admitting he didnt want to uproot his family more than just loyalty to the club, even still though i'm happy to have him here still as he performed well last season.
