Bailey Posted 8 July, 2009 Posted 8 July, 2009 Have been told that Davis is set to sign a new contract and stay at Saints. He's been holding out for our takeover and now it has gone through he's looking to commit his future to us. Should be confirmed by the end of the week. Fingers crossed.

CityRanger Posted 8 July, 2009 Posted 8 July, 2009 Quality! Hopefully the idea of playing every week rather than possibly being a no.2 at the 'Ammers has swung it. Hope he has as good a season as last year. Large piece in the jigsaw of a promotion bid filled!
trousers Posted 8 July, 2009 Posted 8 July, 2009 How much more f***ing good news is this Liebherr character expecting us to absorb today....give me 2 years of bad news any day...!
trousers Posted 8 July, 2009 Posted 8 July, 2009 BTW, Is it tomorrow we get the news about Keegan or Friday?
Patrick Bateman Posted 8 July, 2009 Posted 8 July, 2009 How much more f***ing good news is this Liebherr character expecting us to absorb today....give me 2 years of bad news any day...! LOL! I'm loving today!!!! 08/07/09 ... defining moment in SFC history, hopefully!!
Bailey Posted 8 July, 2009 Author Posted 8 July, 2009 by who? Source? From someone within the club, but obviously can't name them! They've given me information in the past that has turned out to be correct so no reason to doubt them on this occasion. I really hope it's true. Fingers crossed.
petts Posted 8 July, 2009 Posted 8 July, 2009 BTW, Is it tomorrow we get the news about Keegan or Friday? Friday or course! Haven't you learnt anything from this. Tuesday is take over day, Friday is new manager day! doh! ;-)
trousers Posted 8 July, 2009 Posted 8 July, 2009 LOL! I'm loving today!!!! 08/07/09 ... defining moment in SFC history, hopefully!! Almost has a nice symmetry that date....if only we were American...
trousers Posted 8 July, 2009 Posted 8 July, 2009 Friday or course! Haven't you learnt anything from this. Tuesday is take over day, Friday is new manager day! doh! ;-) Sorry, my bad. I'd always assumed it 'twas other way around....knew I'd been doing something wrong this last 20 months!

Fingers crossed too then, but I'll believe it when I see it.
gonzo Posted 8 July, 2009 Posted 8 July, 2009 It could well be true. Otherwise he would have already signed on the line at the Hammers, surely? I hope it is true.
Bailey Posted 8 July, 2009 Author Posted 8 July, 2009 Fingers crossed too then, but I'll believe it when I see it. Agreed. I'm not getting too excited until I see official confirmation on the OS!

Not the best source I know - but the Sun is saying the same: http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/football/2524989/Thats-Kel-of-a-snub.html Happy days if true though.
Big Bad Bob Posted 8 July, 2009 Posted 8 July, 2009 LOL! I'm loving today!!!! 08/07/09 ... defining moment in SFC history, hopefully!! Almost has a nice symmetry that date....if only we were American... It'll happen next month on the 7th August and at 12:34 and 56 on that date, if you write it down it will be 12:34:56 7/8/9 Now that is symmetrical!!
NickG Posted 8 July, 2009 Posted 8 July, 2009 (edited) That's Kel of a snub! see link above - forgot rule on pasting! Edited 8 July, 2009 by NickG
trousers Posted 8 July, 2009 Posted 8 July, 2009 That's Kel of a snub! KELVIN DAVIS has rejected a move to West Ham for regular football at Southampton. The keeper, 32, trained with the Hammers this week and was offered a two-year deal to be understudy to England star Rob Green. But Davis yesterday opted to stay at the relegated Saints and spearhead their bid to bounce back into the Championship. He signed a new three-year deal after snubbing the Premiership offer. Former England Under-21 star Davis, voted player of the season last campaign by teammates and fans, prefers League One action rather than sitting on the bench at West Ham Legend status assured! Welcome 'back' Kelv!
SaintDonkey Posted 8 July, 2009 Posted 8 July, 2009 Aww **** yes. I love today! (now technically yesterday)
trousers Posted 8 July, 2009 Posted 8 July, 2009 Aww **** yes. I love today! (now technically yesterday) Bugger, is it really that late?
rick1976.4.38 Posted 8 July, 2009 Posted 8 July, 2009 super,super kelv,super kelvin davis.great news,onwards and upwards,coyr
chrisobee Posted 8 July, 2009 Posted 8 July, 2009 Bugger, is it really that late? Who cares, this feelgood factor will last and last. Well at least until our 1st game !!
St Landrew Posted 8 July, 2009 Posted 8 July, 2009 Aww **** yes. I love today! (now technically yesterday) Tomorrow [now technically today] may be almost as good..!
Sussex Saint Posted 8 July, 2009 Posted 8 July, 2009 If he stays then I can't imagine a better end to the whole sorry saga.. Yikes, is that the time. Who cares. It's been a brilliant day all round.. COYR.
farawaysaint Posted 8 July, 2009 Posted 8 July, 2009 The modern day MLT? As soon as he stays for a few more years and manages to keep us in the prem single-handedly with brilliant midfield goals I might just agree with you
CityRanger Posted 8 July, 2009 Posted 8 July, 2009 Must be true. Sun Reporter is pal of KD's dad. For once I'm ITK!
Saint Bones Posted 9 July, 2009 Posted 9 July, 2009 Hope this turns out to be true Seems to be a great day for the club.
St Landrew Posted 9 July, 2009 Posted 9 July, 2009 The modern day MLT? If true, then there is a similarity. Matty had a contract signed with his boyhood favourite club Spurs, which he pleaded to be released from because, when push came to shove, he found he could not leave Saints. Kelvin Davis may be doing it for other reasons, but fair play to him. Plenty of ex-players have said what a gorgeous area it is to live in. The New Forest and the southern region, that is, not necessarily Southampton itself. Quite a turnaround for a goalkeeper once so vilified by Saints fans.
SaintBobby Posted 9 July, 2009 Posted 9 July, 2009 Awesome if true. Kelvin definitely on verge of legend status...
harvey Posted 9 July, 2009 Posted 9 July, 2009 http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/4482287.EXCLUSIVE__Davis_staying_at_Saints/
EastleighSoulBoy Posted 9 July, 2009 Posted 9 July, 2009 Friday or course! Haven't you learnt anything from this. Tuesday is take over day, Friday is new manager day! doh! ;-) Were we officially taken over yesterday? Which was a. . err . . Wednesday?
CHAPEL END CHARLIE Posted 9 July, 2009 Posted 9 July, 2009 http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/4482287.EXCLUSIVE__Davis_staying_at_Saints/ Smashing news!!!! and (semi) offical as well
Saintleigh Posted 9 July, 2009 Posted 9 July, 2009 Absolute legend - even had a B&HAFC fan at work yesterday gloating that he was going to WHU! MLT for "senior" role by the end of the week? In the words of Yazz - "The only way is up"
JustMike Posted 9 July, 2009 Posted 9 July, 2009 yes KD wooo hoooo :-) good this week get any better :-) super kelvin davis
Spades Posted 9 July, 2009 Posted 9 July, 2009 Brilliant news! Now get Stern tied into a new contract, and Murty signed up. MLT into a position and everything is looking fantatstic
BARCELONASAINT Posted 9 July, 2009 Posted 9 July, 2009 Life just gets better and better after months of crap. Welcome back KD
doggface Posted 9 July, 2009 Posted 9 July, 2009 What Unbelievable loyalty has this man shown to sfc. Fantastic news & most important signing. What a turnaround as well in the popularity stakes over the last year!
Gravesend Saint Posted 9 July, 2009 Posted 9 July, 2009 The good news just keeps on coming Roll on Millwall, let's get this show on the road!
NickG Posted 9 July, 2009 Posted 9 July, 2009 Solent reporting also signed three year contract last night
Dicko Posted 9 July, 2009 Posted 9 July, 2009 Robert Green could have got injured For Davis to turn down a Premier League opportunity, in order to remain with a team 10 points clear at the bottom of L1, is an amazing piece of loyalty
Spades Posted 9 July, 2009 Posted 9 July, 2009 So Davis signing for us will almost definately signal an exit for one (maybe two) of our other keepers. I can see Poke heading back to Torquay... cant see Forecast getting a new team... Maybe Bart can get a lower Championship team or mid table League 1 team?
NickG Posted 9 July, 2009 Posted 9 July, 2009 great player for us great guy great with young fans offered to deferr his pay straight away last season turned down permiership for 3rd tier with us IMHO greatest Saint since MLT. Thanks Kelvin, Spirit of Southampton (am I getting bit excited and emotional!!??)

I can see Poke heading back to Torquay... cant see Forecast getting a new team... Maybe Bart can get a lower Championship team or mid table League 1 team? Keep at least 2 - Bart + one of the others. Can't see KD being fit 100% of the time and Bart is a little injury prone. Need some deep(ish) cover for the No1 shirt.
Nexstar Posted 9 July, 2009 Posted 9 July, 2009 YES! One of the best signings we could have made this summer
