adethorne Posted 15 August, 2009 Posted 15 August, 2009 Went to ground today, no tickets left but told 400 will be delivered by courier for 9am monday. But i don't understand logic because that is still about 500 short of full allocation. Also as i live near swindon i have been informed that irrespective of seat number on ticket it will be free seating if we are 500 or more seats unsold which because of the lack of time and no sales on day at at swindon there will be. There will be a large police presence in town centre
saint_bert Posted 16 August, 2009 Posted 16 August, 2009 Hope not otherwise me + 2 others won't be getting in! Tea on moniter moment!!!
saint_bert Posted 16 August, 2009 Posted 16 August, 2009 Whats the pub of choice then?? What time are most people going up? were getting the 1 o clock from Soton central!
Griffo Posted 16 August, 2009 Posted 16 August, 2009 I would like to ask if everyone could make an effort to stand for the 90 minutes .
yamms_schmitz Posted 16 August, 2009 Posted 16 August, 2009 Pub of choice is a wetherspoons in town called the groves company Inn. It is more or less on the way from the train station to the ground. From the pub just walk down Fleming way and 2 mins later you are at the ground. It is Steak night on Tuesday, so a few pints and a nice steak without breaking the bank. The Groves Company Inn 22–23 Fleet Street Swindon SN1 1RQ

Griffo Posted 16 August, 2009 Posted 16 August, 2009 Did you go yesterday Griffo?? Was there not many standing? I didn't go yesterday for certain reasons, but pictures I have seen show that not many of our support was stood yesterday.

RedAndWhite91 Posted 16 August, 2009 Posted 16 August, 2009 I would like to ask if everyone could make an effort to stand for the 90 minutes . I agree with this. Please, everyone, stand up!!
saint_stevo Posted 16 August, 2009 Posted 16 August, 2009 im a cripple, i will be sat and sour if the person in front is blocking my view
bungle Posted 17 August, 2009 Posted 17 August, 2009 I am going to go to the Glue Pot I think. Certainly not going to a sh*tty Wetherspoons, especially if it going to be filled with people in colours.
stevegrant Posted 17 August, 2009 Posted 17 August, 2009 I didn't go yesterday for certain reasons, but pictures I have seen show that not many of our support was stood yesterday. There were plenty standing in the first half an hour or so but I think people just couldn't be arsed after that as it was all pretty depressing.
The Fat Controller Posted 17 August, 2009 Posted 17 August, 2009 I doubt that the police will let use Weatherspoons to be honest as they never normally do. We will probably be directed to a pub called The Grove which is the opposite side of magic roudabout past the fire station. Wilts Old bill normally round up large numbers of away fans and escort them from the rail station to the County Ground

Saint Samuel Posted 17 August, 2009 Posted 17 August, 2009 If you're looking for a pub near the ground, apparently The Merlin is good, on Broad Road, just off the Magic Roundabout. I'm meeting some Swindon fans in there before the game, they say its home and away friendly.
The Fat Controller Posted 17 August, 2009 Posted 17 August, 2009 just posted link to this pub on the main forum

saints_is_the_south Posted 17 August, 2009 Posted 17 August, 2009 so, to summarise, which pub? Granty/The9, expect a text http://www.jdwetherspoon.co.uk/pubs/pub-details.php?PubNumber=1986 As long as they let us in which 'The Fat Controller' reckons they might not. According to him the police will lead us all to a pub called the Merlin - http://www.beerintheevening.com/pubs/s/37/3784/Merlin/Swindon

Block 5 Posted 17 August, 2009 Posted 17 August, 2009 There were plenty standing in the first half an hour or so but I think people just couldn't be arsed after that as it was all pretty depressing. After 20 minutes I felt like lying down.

saints_is_the_south Posted 18 August, 2009 Posted 18 August, 2009 head gasket just gone on my car so I will either have a ticket going - collection near Southampton train station - or I need a lift to the game - anyone help me? Get the train? Can't cost much more than the fuel there & back will.
BTW Saint Posted 18 August, 2009 Posted 18 August, 2009 Marcus Saint Thanks. Have emailed contact details BTW. Sorted.
Thorpe-le-Saint Posted 18 August, 2009 Posted 18 August, 2009 Desperately need a spare ticket for tonight. Would be extremely grateful, can pick up in Soton or in Swindon. MANY THANKS in advance!
RedAndWhite91 Posted 18 August, 2009 Posted 18 August, 2009 Get the train? Can't cost much more than the fuel there & back will. Recently got a train from Winchester to Chippenham. Chippenham is the next stop 15 minutes after the Swindon stop and I had to change at Reading. It cost £35 for an off-peak return. So I reckon it would be around that price.
Chez Posted 18 August, 2009 Posted 18 August, 2009 Get the train? Can't cost much more than the fuel there & back will. £49 single. Hmmmmmmmmmm
Mouldy Coat Posted 18 August, 2009 Posted 18 August, 2009 Hi Chez, would like your ticket if possible please. Unfortunately though I have a full car. I guess you will try and get a lift first, but if not, will pick ticket up from you. Thanks
scott_saints Posted 18 August, 2009 Posted 18 August, 2009 £49 single. Hmmmmmmmmmm Group of 4 adults worked out £16 each for a return for us, by going on "off peak" trains.
saint_bert Posted 18 August, 2009 Posted 18 August, 2009 We are going via Basingstoke and Reading. Takes a while but worked out 13 quid return
scott_saints Posted 18 August, 2009 Posted 18 August, 2009 Same here. 2 hours to get there. 2 and a half to get back....but it's cheap as chips and more crate drinking time
ladysaint Posted 18 August, 2009 Posted 18 August, 2009 £49 single. Hmmmmmmmmmm Have seat spare in minibus tonight if you are interested, though we are not leaving until about 4 ish.

Chez Posted 18 August, 2009 Posted 18 August, 2009 Have seat spare in minibus tonight if you are interested, though we are not leaving until about 4 ish. thanks for the offer but I'm afraid I'm going to struggle to get out of work early enough for your minibus. Flippin car. Still waiting for the garage to confirm the head gasket issue as I guess there is a small chance its not that and I can make my own way there.
Chez Posted 18 August, 2009 Posted 18 August, 2009 Hi Chez, would like your ticket if possible please. Unfortunately though I have a full car. I guess you will try and get a lift first, but if not, will pick ticket up from you. Thanks I'll get back to you ASAP.
